The Boston Herald reports that the Bruins have agreed to terms with veteran NHL forward Sandy McCarthy.
McCarthy played the last three seasons with the New York Rangers.
McCarthy's agent, Art Breeze, and a source with the club confirmed the news to the paper on Tuesday. An official announcement is expected to be issued in the next few days.
"We concluded a deal in Toronto a couple days ago," Breeze told the Herald. "The bottom line is Sandy McCarthy has agreed to terms with the Bruins."
McCarthy, an unrestricted free agent, became expendable over the summer when the Rangers signed enforcer Chris Simon. He made $1.3 million last season with 15 points and 81 penalty minutes in 82 games.
