It was pretty entertaining to see how the 15 "anonymous" NHL players ranked all sorts of things, up until Carolina tied with Calgary for 2nd place in the "Never Trade Me To...." question, including the comment:

Said one player: "Carolina's an awful (place). There's nothing to do."

And Irbe gets the only "good" mention - in the coolest mask section.

BTW, I think this is pretty old - just don't remember seeing it. Judging from the URL, maybe January?

I guess there is nothing to do in "Carolina"......since it doesn't exist. It's NORTH Carolina people, NORTH Carolina!

If I'm reading the URL right, the article came out on January 20th of this year.

As for that anonymous player that said "(NORTH, as SHC astutely noted. http://smilies.networkessence.net/s/otn/wink/thumb.gif) Carolina's an awful place...", wanna bet that was Keith Primeau? Definitely had to be a former Cane...grrrrr to them. Oh well, I bet the Laffs fans (Afterall, it was the Toronto Star that conducted the survey.) got their jollies from that comment...notice the Caniacs didn't even get mentioned as being among the best fans.

The Bulin Wall can win a playoff series, if the Bolts qualify.

Well, that quote makes it obvious it was BEFORE this year's playoffs.

I wouldn't necessarily say that. It might be more likely to be players that are only here for a night at the Embassy Suites in Cary. Not like you can walk out the door to find nice dining or anything.

Seems to me that every Cane that's been here (and left) has said nothing but good things. No question a player with a young family would find it great. If Jeff O'Neill (and Bates pre-trade) can be happy here, I think even the single guys have been able to find their fun.

In any event, it's only 15 players out of about 700.

Ok, maybe I shouldn't have said a former Cane said the quote in question, because for all we know, it could have been someone like Fedorov...he almost did get traded to here. Wouldn't surprise me if a big shot like him or Primeau (Whom my former Cane comment was mostly referring to...) said that. But who knows? Like you said, it's only less than a twentieth of the NHL...

The guy that said that probably couldn't get a hooker at 2 AM or something.

He just didn't know where to look...

But what do small-market cities like Columbus and Calgary have to do that we don't?

Raleigh is cool! :spin:

How'd you find that link nccanes? I found it early last night on the Nashville Predator's Fanhome board...

I found it on another board, but not the Preds (never been there). I think maybe Thrashers? I was really bored last night (obviously).

You and me. I went on a roundabout tour of the team forums last night...
The Preds fans were mad that the Gaylord Ent. Center was listed as one of the worst arenas...

Don't these players ever read those darn magazines that rank Raleigh as the #1 place in the country to live?? :D

Osgood is #3 on the Most Underrated Goaltender list... but he's also #2 on the Most OVERrated Goaltender list? Consistency, people...

re: Never Trade Me To... well, Paul Maurice is coach for life, ya' know? Egads!

What about our friend Hairspray?
From Super-Hair.net (http://www.super-hair.net/top10.html):

http://www.super-hair.net/fraser2.jpg KERRY FRASER. National Hockey League referee who calls games without a helmet. He says women have stopped him to ask how he keeps his thick hair (much more full than our picture) from moving.

Ya know, it's funny. I had Kerry fraser as a coach for summer hockey for about 3 years and he was probably one of the most level headed, and easy to get along with people I have ever met. I learned a ton from him over those 3 years. It was he who was the ref for the Miracle in Molson, and before the incredible comeback our guys made in the third period of that game, I actually found myself YELLING at thim through the screen! Now, much like most of you, I'm sure you've felt the urge to do the same for many reasons, but that was one night I found that the student finally found a reason to yell at his teacher ;).
