political forum

well, this isn't a bug but I didn't see a suggestion box on my way in ;)

On one of our websites that uses the same software as this board, we have a political forum that you cannot get into unless you specifically "sign up" up for it. The descrpition you see from the forum is:

"Warning! Heated political forum. Enter At Own Risk!!! (Seriously)"

I'd love to have one here since many of us like talking politics, and I love hearing all the different point of views... At our site (which is just for local friends) many people never wanted access and now don't have to see our political chatter in the forums they do frequent. I think it is truly a win-win situation.

Just an idea.

But heavy moderation will need to be in place. It could get tough in there if left neglected.

oh, I would definitely moderate anytime necessary. I appreciate all points of view but have no tolerance for personal slams. I'll also admit to being quick on delete as far as hatred views go (i.e., anti gay, jew, black, purple, etc)

yeah, I like having a closed-door forum that you can't just walk into.

that way if you have someone who just ain't working out in there... take their permissions away... no big deal. :)

php is good like that. and having a level-headed poli-forum is always a good thing, imo. :)

Well it's a private forum. It doesn't show unless you're allowed access, so by design it wouldn't show those threads on the front page.

I could see it before I was allowed access, thats How I knew about it, I came in this forum to ask what happpend to it and found this thread...

I got a PM from someone else earlier today that was having the same problem. I can still see it on my end, but not sure why. To my knowledge, nobody has been banned.. I put a note into Caniac about it earlier.. did you guys PM him and ask for access initially? Maybe he changed the security on it?
