Well, I dunno how you all feel about domestic violence....but its pretty much intolerable...and Chris Brown is taking it out on the beautiful Rihanna....what a way to overshadow the Grammy's tonight CB.

I heard on the radio this morning that not only was Rihanna bruised and cut, but that she had some teeth knocked out. Also, the NBA has canceled Chris Brown's appearance at the all-star game.
As someone who was (a very long time ago) in an abusive relationship, this is something that I hope she is able to come through a stronger person.

TMZ and Perezhilton somehow obtained Rihanna's photo from after the alleged attack...its not pretty.....i'll add the link...click to see if you wish...
Poor Rihanna...I hope she can get through this a stronger woman, and leave this abusive and obviously unhealthy relationship.

This is why I do what I do everyday for my shelter. I hope this is high profile enough that more people get the message. I hate it for Rihanna though. Such a strong persona on stage, I hope she continues to use that for her own strength and the good of all survivors. The statistic is 1 in 4 women. Probably more than that if you ask from my personal experience in my office. Chris Brown probably demons to deal with as well since this is a family cycle, not an isolated experience. Chris Brown's next song should be titled, "Love shouldn't hurt."

Chris Brown's next song should be titled, "Love shouldn't hurt."
And he should have to sing it in the shower of the California State Prison.

Sad thing is, from all reports, Rihanna and he are spending time together again :(

I understand that the victim going back to the abuser is depressingly common, but I am completely disgusted by it, if the rumors are true. It's one thing if you're Wanda up the holler, with five kids, no job and no easy way out. Rihanna doesn't really have those limitations -- at the very least, money is certainly not a limitation. Plus, the fact that she is a role model (oh, shut it, Charles Barkley, it's true, no matter how much you try to disclaim the responsibility) ... what a HORRIBLE message to send to her female and male fans.
I know it's not fair for me to judge because I've never been in such a relationship, but the route she seems to be taking is one I sure wish she hadn't.

KB, you hit the nail and it's ok- it is hard to understand. When you are young and don't realize there is and will always be more to life then is right in front of you it is very hard to see beyond where you are right now. Speaking from my own experiance (and people who know me today are blown away when I tell them my horror story), you think that if you stick with them and love them enough you can change them. What I eventually come to realize is that if he loved me he wouldn't do what he did and needed help that I couldn't give him (which he never sought). The only solution was to walk away.
Unfortunately, like you said, there are some women (and men) who are not financially and/or emotionally able to do it. That is why orgs like Apoliner's are so important; they save lives with what they do.
