So, we're 7-1-2 for March-- nice record, really.... or not good enough, Puck_it? ;) (it's POPD*, in case you didn't note it on your calendar!)

You know... I was thinking about heading to a sports bar or something to watch this one, since I don't have Center Ice, but.... I just realized that Florida isn't televising it, either. So, it's radio night, everyone!! Pop some popcorn, pull your comfy chair up to the old RCA, and have a fireside listen w/Chuck & the letter K.

CL, there's at least a rumor that the game will be broadcast on Center Ice, albeit a rather crude production from the in-arena cameras and radio crews (I think E or someone may have posted this in one of the other threads).

I've said it once, I'll say it again: The Versus exclusive needs to go. It's a joke. And it sure doesn't serve the fan. It serves only one interest and that's marginally boosting the ratings of a network the league probably shouldn't be on in the first place.

Over our 8-game home winning streak, our average attendance is 18,238, with two of the games being sell-outs (18,680 is sold-out).

We should be proud of that. :)

We were just out for lunch on this bee-you-ti-ful day and we talked about how satisified the team must be with back to back wins and 3 straight in 4 nights, getting a day off, sleep in, enjoy your family for a bit and then head to the airport knowing you'll land in an even warmer climate after a short trip. I imagine it's good to be a Carolina Hurricane today.....as it is to be their fan! :)

That's what i'm assuming is gonna happen as that's what TNOC did when Cullen left the game. Eaves can move up with Brindy/Samsonov and then we can insert Ryan on the 4th with Helminen/Conboy.

Sucks to lose Cullen, but for once I like the depth we have.

It'll be interesting to see which Florida team we get. Do we get the Florida teams from years past where they fall at the closest sign of pressure or do they overcome that disaster Saturday night and play the game of their lives.

I wonder if a stream will be available for those of us without centre ice.

After the comments on 99.9 postgame and the caller saying he saw the game listed on his channel guide, I checked ours, it's there- but seriously- the in house feed? Woa. I think we'll mute, and play Chuck K. because if you've not listened to Randy Moller and his 'interesting' commentary, you'll wanna slit your wrists quickly as he's pretty bad, but thinks he's 'entertaining'. I'll be interested in seeing what the in-house feed will be like. :lol:

An impressive home winning streak has put the Carolina Hurricanes in position for their first playoff appearance since their run to the Stanley Cup in 2006.

A timely road victory Monday night would go a long way toward them achieving that goal.

A win in Miami would give the Hurricanes a seven-point lead in the Eastern Conference over the Florida Panthers, who are desperately trying to reverse a late-season stumble and end a nine-year playoff drought.

The Hurricanes (39-28-7) have been one of the league's hottest teams during the past month, averaging more than four goals while going 11-3-2 since Feb. 19.

Their home winning streak reached eight with a 4-1 victory over Washington on Saturday night, as they scored three times in the third period and Cam Ward stopped 31 shots. Coach Paul Maurice's club plays five of its last eight at home.

While Carolina hasn't been as good on the road, going 0-1-2 on its most recent trip, it will have added incentive to win Monday. The ninth-place Panthers (35-27-10) trail their Southeast Division rival by five points, but have two games in hand.

"We're not secure yet, plus we want to play like we're building toward something," Carolina's Erik Cole told the team's official Web site. "We want to be playing a certain way heading into the playoffs."

Cole has contributed to the Hurricanes' offensive outburst with two goals and eight assists in nine games since being reacquired from Edmonton. He spent his first six seasons with Carolina.

Veteran Rod Brind'Amour has also stepped up for the Hurricanes with five goals and five assists in his last eight contests, including a goal Saturday. Defensemen Joni Pitkanen, Anton Babchuk and Joe Corvo also scored against the Capitals.

"Our defense has had a huge impact on how we play," Maurice said. "You are seeing some offensive creativity."

The Panthers are badly in need of some scoring as they try to reach the postseason for the first time since the 1999-2000 season. They've scored one or no goals three times in their last six games, going 1-3-2 to fall out of playoff position.

Florida led 1-0 for most of the game against visiting Columbus on Saturday, but the Blue Jackets scored three times in the final three minutes for a 3-1 victory.

"I really thought we did a lot of things well tonight, other than win," Panthers coach Pete DeBoer said. "I don't have an answer. We're not putting up any white flags, there's a lot of hockey left."

The Panthers can move back into eighth place on Monday as they trail Montreal by one point. Both teams have 10 games remaining.

In the final meeting between Carolina and Florida, the Hurricanes will be looking to even a season series that has favored the Panthers. Florida hasn't had offensive problems this season against Carolina, scoring three goals or more in four of the five matchups and winning three of them. Carolina has lost both games in Miami.

The most recent meeting was the ugliest for the Hurricanes, who lost 5-0 at home Feb. 12. Ward was pulled after giving up four goals on 13 shots, the third time in 13 career starts against Florida that he has been chased.

The Panthers' Tomas Vokoun has been considerably better versus Carolina. He stopped 42 shots in that contest and is 3-0-1 with a 1.48 goals-against average in his last four starts against the Hurricanes.

Monday's game between Carolina and Florida will not be on local television because of the weekly Monday night Versus broadcast exclusive period. But important games deserve important attention.

So the NHL packages NHL Center Ice (television) and Game Center Live (online) have coordinated with the Panthers in-game crew to transmit scoreboard video production and the team's radio call from Randy Moller (http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8449662) and Bill Lindsay (http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8458617) on NHL Center Ice and Game Center Live. That's good news for Hurricanes and Panthers fans who are rooting for their clubs to make the playoffs. Plus, it's good news for all hockey fans who are watching the seesaw battles for the last two to four spots in each conference's playoff pictures.

And even movie buffs might want to tune into the special game production. Moeller, the Panthers’ radio announcer is known for his clever and often hilarious use of movie script lines as part of a Florida goal call.

Carolina has notched 85 points and ranks sixth in the Eastern Conference. A win tonight places the Hurricanes into fifth place, one point ahead of Pittsburgh.

If Florida can pull out a home victory, it would take over the eighth and final spot with 82 in the Eastern Conference, leapfrogging one point ahead of Montreal.

We were trying hard to sync Chuck with this video feed, however, you lose the sync up when they show mutliple replays and don't come back to the 'live" action. So we had to let it go.

dont get me wrong...I dont like throwing the attendance barb out there, as they Canes have had their own share of problems...but come on...a team that is in the thick of the playoff hunt, the game is not on tv locally and the lower bowl is half empty...plus these two announcers sound like this is their first hockey game

We watched and rewound that whole sequence and HEL-LO, clearly they are stoned. 9 guys? call them like they see it? Dude- we didn't even have 5 guys on the ice. "all" the players were coming off, not in the play or legs already over the boards to go back on the bench. We were missing our two D- and by the time Rod gained, I see a pair of legs coming over - It appeared to be Pitkanen. So technically, had we not scored, we coulda seen the Panthers go the other way, and the Canes not have all 5 guys on the flippin' ice.

I told ya'll these are some serious toolboxes. I used to turn off Mischkin when XM does their morning scoreboard, now I turn this dude off cause honestly, he's terrible. and is he even a hockey guy? He can't seem to tell a no-look pass from a slapshot, his play by play skills? stinky at best.

George Richards is doing a (barely) live blog and this was his comment about the too many man. He's full of BS because we saw ourselves when a Leaf skate kept the puck in the zone and they scored.

Florida has gotten jobbed on a pair of non-calls, and the last one really cost them. Just before the Carolina goal, the puck hit Eric Staal's skate as he was coming off, so there were seven players on the ice. The puck hit Staal off the Carolina bench setting up a 3-on-2 chance for the Hurricanes and they score. The officials also missed a too-many-men call just before they called Jokinen for hooking.
