Help me Defeat ALS!

As most of you know, one of our well loved regulars has been living with ALS for several years now. She is amazingly brave and I am in awe of how she handles it and herself. I will be doing the Walk to Defeat ALS in her honor. Please consider walking with me or supporting me in raising money against this terrible disease that we know so little about.

Shell, it's Alicia's mother. What a wonderful thing you are doing in Alicia's honor. I know that she is so thrilled that you are doing this. She has never had anyone walk in her honor before even though she is in her 9th year of fighting this disease. For everyone's information not only does this organization spend monies for research, but they also provide education about the disease, which is especially helpful for the newly diagnosed. When Alicia was first diagnosed, we learned more about ALS through the internet than we did from her doctors. Alicia gets a direct benefit from your donations. The local chapter (Jim "Catfish" Hunter Chapter based in Raleigh) provides grants for things like equipment (Alicia's motorized wheelchair is on loan from them), respite monies (we have used this quite a bit for relief for the caregiver - me! :)) transportation, etc. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to PM me.
