Wow x's 2. I'm not an NFL fan in the sense I have to watch it every Sunday, but I married one, so it's an unwritten rule in the marriage vows that I follow -.

My father was stationed @ NAS Alameda (just outside of Oakland,CA) when I was a child, and clearly remember when he coached the Raiders. One of our neighbors was a cousin of Otis Sistrunk one of Madden's players.

So from that little memory I have always tuned in to watch John Madden when he was on MNF. He always made football interesting to me, a true layperson who doesn't follow enough to know all the intricacies of football, he simplified it for me, and helped me understand the logic on how the games are played/called.

He also reminded me of my late father in law who never flew anywhere, and drove everywhere, including to Socal when I became engaged to his son. :lol:That whole tricked out winnebago thing always made me chuckle.

Great career- great that he's going on his terms.

I'm a fan. Mr. LTD, not so much.

I like his earthy, physical, bruising, get your nose dirty appreciation of the game.

And in my earlier days, I used to emulate his "CBS Chalkboard" when I taught my IT classes.

Not a fan. I think he finally retired because Brett Favre's retirement looks permanent this time. Who would he talk about now??
