New server

Just so everyone knows, the constant slowness and time outs will soon be a thing of the past.

I have set up a new server, and have everything pretty much installed and working. I've got some more tweaks to do, so there's probably another week or so of working on it in the evenings to make sure everything is just right.

I'll move the current DB's one evening and we'll be up and running on a server of our own and on a completely different network by the next morning.

I did bump up the message storage for Premium Members. It's now at 1000.

In other news, I will moving the site over to the new server this weekend. Actually, it's already there, I've just been testing everything every which way to make sure it all works properly. So over the weekend I'll disable posting to the messageboard here and move the DB over to the new server and then change the DNS to point to the new.

It should be a quick change, but since I'm changing DNS entries, you may have a day or two of swapping back and forth from the new to the old and back as the change propagates to the various DNS servers out there.

I'll post when I'll be throwing that switch ahead of time so you'll know.

It's done. There's some bugs to be worked out. The DNS is switching back and forth so in about a day or so it'll settle on the new server.

I'm on Bellsouth, assume loads of others are too? Tried lots of things (clearing cache, cookies, history, different links, different entry points, refresh, from the front, from the back, etc. and just kept getting the same boards with the boards are down message up top. very annoying!
