jumping the gun I realize, but I am already starting to plan my draft for next season's fantasy hockey. I will run an LGC league again.

The following people are automatically guaranteed if they want to be in:
(since they were on it last season and stayed with it). (Team names may be different from handles, but I have the email addresses too)

That means we'll have at least 5 open spots. I will always help and/or explain things when needed, but don't even consider joining unless you know you can/will be active for a whole season.

For those who are considering joining, would you prefer a head to head league or rotisserie? Or one of each?

Last year we did a head-to-head and that was a lot of fun.. I join several leagues though and always have at least one of each. Let me know if you still have questions after reading that. :D

I like head to head to a lot. However, if you have inactive teams it REALLY sucks.

I will BEG of you. do not even consider getting in if you can't be active. There is nothing worse than a team with a lot of good players logging in once every 3 months (if even that).

actually, the best thing to do, is to check the box that allows the commish to edit your team if necessary. so, if something happens, it can be dealt with. teams that don't allow commish editing, and never show up... you can't do anything about.

I think I will make that a rule this time (to let commish edit).. obviously I am not going to screw with anyone's team unfairly.

Personally, I log on every day and set my lines.. I think once a week is about the bare minimum..

For those of you new to fantasy hockey, the draft is key to your success. I do not do a live draft as it is too hard to make sure everyone can be there at the same time, and because their system has a tendency to crash. I don't want anyone getting screwed because of a computer mishap. So you will actually go in and rank the players you want in the order that you want. I use the random number generator to assign who gets the first pick, second pick, etc. The computer will go through your list and give you your highest available pick.

For example, say Guyute gets 1st pick and I have 2nd pick. My first two picks are Darcy Tucker and Scott Stevens. If guyute picks Tie Domi first then I get Darcy. If Guyute picks Darcy, I will get Scott. Make sense? Yahoo does pre-rank all of the players and you can use their rankings but I personally disagree with them lol. I tend to go overboard with my draft but I think normal people tend to rank their top 25 and then take Yahoo's ranks for the rest. One more note, you don't want to rank people by position. If I rank my top ten goalies at the top, then I am going to have a worse problem than Detroit does.

I'm not so much concerned as making sure to make the point.. I think I will do a head to head again.. it was fun last year with people from this forum (congrats again to Lets Go Canes and Mo Big Red!). The 5 people who didn't play will not be allowed to join. I will send out invites to the people listed above and then open it to all by posting the roster ID and password here. It will be first come first served until it is full (wish there was room for all, but since it is a deep roster there wouldn't be enough players to go around). Last year they opened it up on 8/19 so I am expecting it anytime now :)

I did my first fantasy hockey last year (family league on Yahoo). I came in a very close second; pretty good considering I had no scoring at all. That was because of my draft list - I rated too many defensemen too high and ended up with great D-men (Blake, Aucoin, Redden, Jovo) and no good forwards. This year - live draft!! (Much easier with only 8 people.) We do rotisserie, which I am much more a fan of; hockey doesn't lend itself to HTH as well as something like football.

I would love to join in with you guys but I can only handle one league at a time, so I'll pass this year. Have fun!

Thanks so much Jillsdad!!! I have been meaning to post a reminder and kept forgetting.. yes, I'll set the draft to ready on Wednesday. From there it will take yahoo anywhere from 1 to 48 hours to run the draft and then we can all see who we got :) Guess I better go edit my own draft order since I set it before I knew my draft rank.

We currently only have 7 on the rotisserie league, which is low but should be fine.

We currently have 9 people in the 2nd head to head.. we need an even number so some of y'all need to sign up!!! Otherwise, I am forcing guyute too LOL.

I need help! I'm pulling a Coach Mo....I got killed in the first week so I'm totally panicking and retooling all my "lines". :spin: There has got to be a strategy secret or 2 that I'm missing out on....but I'm sure I'll figure it out about 2 days before the end of the season.

well, the best strategy is just knowing your players.

if there are enough games that you're having to make choices of who to put in, then choose carefully. inevitably you're going to sit someone who has a 3 point night, while the guy you put in over him is a -4. it happens. but you want as few of those as possible. hehe

if I'm in one of your leagues, I'll take a look at your team and offer up any suggestions you want. I'm bored today...

I havn't commented yet, BUT Mo did raise the CUP in the playoffs last year. As much as he is irritated that he finished 2nd last year, I'm irritated I didn't hoist the FHL Cup. At least I won the regular season , but this year I need the Cup!
