I presume you all got the tweet that said the 2009 Preseason Sched was released and the tinyurl just pointed you to the main ch.com page....with no preseason sched?

Or am I missing something?

I got the tweet, but for some reason, anytime I link directly to the Hurricanes web pages from my Blackberry I just get the front splash screen and can't proceed anywhere past it.

So to get around it I programmed in the "index" page as a bookmark to try to bypass the splash screen.

Regardless, I'm on my main computer right now and can't find the preseason schedule anywhere on the website.

I thought it was coming out on Monday with the regular season to come out on Wednesday.

Glad to see I wasn't the only one losing my mind.

So first I was disappointed cause I thought for sure that buzz was gonna tell me Ruutu signed. Then I saw the pre-season schedule is out, then I got nothing all around.

They also posted it on the Canesvision-hd blog: http://canesvision-hd.blogspot.com/

LMAO fortunately I saw E's post before I saw the tweet. At this point in time I wish they'd just stop tweeting until we get *THE* tweet.

So here ya go (http://hurricanes.nhl.com/team/app?articleid=436730&page=NewsPage&service=page):

The secret to finding this stuff on the website immediately after a tweet is to click on the "News" section and it's usually there. It takes a while for it to hit the front page on the website.

I swear they used to directly link to whatever the hell they were actually tweeting about. Don't know if it's on purpose or bad tweetiquette (lol) or plain stupid, but it's annoying.

Thanks for the tip c-girl!

edit: so has anyone done the math? does this mean full sths are paying for the both (and only) 2 home preseason games and getting no freebie?

Maybe there will be a 'freebie' intersquad scrimmage game? (Though that is generally a freebie to everyone not just STHers.)

Our preseason is a joke of course we're paying in full for the two games- the "Thank you Fans" thing is passe you know, it's been 4 years since the non-season from hell, no need to bring good will to the fans or anything.

Oh, and the whole rigamaroll just trying to find crap on the Canes website is just another flipping joke.

As E posted, it's horrid Tweetiquette to send sh** out and not have the freakin' attachment lead to anything but your stupid splash page. :ticked: Why should we have to dig around to find this stuff if they're tweeting about it with a flippin' link? Oh, probably because there are no interns around. :roll. Lack of technology savvy.

On the flip side, I follow several NHL teams just because, and the Kings, Sharks and Bruins seem to have their sh** together in Twitterland, hell even the Lightning, although they are a bit overeager, have Twitpics and all kinds of stuff they'll tweet of this rookie camp complete with the play-by-play (e.g "the 1st group of campers on the ice, fantasy campers will take the ice later") and on and on. We'll be lucky if they even write anything up on the webpage about this camp next week.

The interns have been busy stuffing envelopes.

Don't we normally get 6 games too? I guess since the River Rats are playing the Phantoms in/around Sept. 24-26, they have to get those fellows back to Albany.

Personally I think the Preseason games should be FREE to STHs. But that just makes way too much damn sense. I get its mostly STHs who show, cause frankly I wouldn't pay full price if I didn't have to for a preseason game, but still. All the money we fork over, 2 free games should be included.

Yeah, that whole free thing just ain't gonna happen.

So the good news about all this preseason sked stuff is that TRAINING CAMP opens in two months.

I just thought about something schedule wise, well maybe I've been thinking about it, lol--- puck_it maybe you remember, and I'm too lazy to go look it up. So back in 05-06, we started the season like that first week in October, because it was an Olympic Year. I imagine we are probably going to have to do the same thing, since there is going to be this 10-14 day shutdown and in Olympic years, the schedule is crammed and mashed together because they have to get the games played. I recall a bunch of weird schedule situations for all the teams that year.

It may be just preseason but TEN WEEKS from today we have a hockey game, people! And two weeks after that, the season starts. :D

Since I have my 05-06 magnet schedule handy, I'll help you out... ;)

We opened that season on the road in Tampa on 10/5. The Olympic break ran from 2/13 to 2/27 and our first game back was 3/1. The regular season ended on 4/18. So compared to the 08-09 season, we started 5 days early and ended 1 week later. We had 15 back to backs that season. We also had games closer together. There were only 4 instances of 3 days between games and 2 of them were in the first 2 weeks of the season and only 1 was as long as 4 days. In 08-09 we had 7 such breaks, including the 4 days off from 3/29 to 4/1 and the ridiculous 6 day break from 1/21 to 1/26.

^ Bingo andy. I knew it was some crazy mess and you had it at the fingertips. I packed away our magnet schedule with all the SC Season stuff so thanks for looking it up.

A friend of mine sent me this link--- if we're to believe Howard Berger, who indicates he has a copy/draft of the 09-10 schedule, which indicates that the Leafs & Habs open the season on 10/1 (http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Howard-Berger/LeafsHabs-In-2009-10-Season-Opener/3/22066). (if you can get past the blathering girl on "HockeyBuzz TV" yapping away as soon as you click on the link)

10/1? Wow.

Well we know the Canes won't have a home game on 10/3 due to U2, so I guess that shoots the old "Sat night Opener" out the window.

SoCal - what will you do if the Canes play AWAY on the 3rd!?

^^So if the Habs/Leafs open on 10/1 and our release is saying

The 2009-10 NHL regular season will open on Friday, Oct. 2.

Wonder if Opening Night is 10/2 for us.

I really don't care the date as long as the first game of the regular season is at home. I hate playing the first game on the road. I know I've already waited months, but I don't want to wait another 2-3 days

Guess it's time to haul this out:

http://www.ncstatefair.org/images/NCSF09Logo.jpg

Guess that means that we could have more home games than usual before they fold up and head out of town for the duration.

Are the Euro games taking place at the end of Sept?

Can't find all the games, but the Blackhawks/Panthers series is 10/2-3 in Helsinki.

Guess because the whole season needed to start early and camps don't open until 9/15, they couldn't do the lead in for those any earlier. Seems like they'll get lost in the shuffle.

Of course - I'll be in year 2 of my post-Center Ice life, so I doubt I'd watch anyway!

Oh, you know how we think.;) We had already been talkin' about "what if" last night, because your buddy was have a little paranoia that "we could start the season on 10/1 - and him thinking back to 05/Olympic sked) and then he started thinking, maybe we'd play on Friday, have the concert on Saturday, then Sunday another game "Since we'd have the fair issue to contend with". He had it all covered, heehee. I'm just praying we don't have an away game on Saturday night, cause you know- we have a history of back to back games on opening night weekends...so that would be a first for us to miss any away game on TV. Oh LORD.

Wonder if Opening Night is 10/2 for us.

Agreed. I think our press release stating it being opening night league wide might be a little confused, but then again the schedule Berger says he saw, was only a draft so who even knows. It seems to me they've often started on a Thursday with a couple of premiere type games/banner raising and then the rest play on Fri/Sat/Sun.

and I almost forgot about the Europe thing until I was reminded, and my Hawks will be over there - this does seem tight for those teams that are playing over there, but I guess they'll get that 'break' in days to play when they return?

Since we're talking schedules and conflicts I felt the need to toss this one out:
Training Camp opens 9/12
NCSU Home football 9/12 & 9/19

Oh of course! It's not training camp if the first day is blocked off because of football. and they surely won't be able to go over to the RecZone (or think to do it)

Classic.
