Didn't hear this myself, but they had a quick report about it during the 1st intermission report of the Flames/Oilers game.

Apparently, during the Hotstove, Al Strachan reported a group of Toronto investors are looking to buy the Thrashers & move them to Winnipeg. I don't know how accurate Strachan is, but if they made another report on it later in the broadcast, someone must think it's credible.

EDIT: Here's the Hotstove video I mentioned above. (http://www.cbc.ca/video/#/Sports/CBC%27s_Hockey_Night_in_Canada/Hotstove/ID=1284105111) Strachan makes his statement about 2:12 in.

It's not totally suprising except for I think Strachan is a make-up **** rumor whore.

I'm surprised TO investors would buy a team and stick it in Winnipeg.

I'm with you. Not sure this really has any legs. Especially since balsillie would have tried to buy them already

You lost me at Al Strachan/Hot Stove.

Why not move to San Francisco and keep the name? A team called Bay Area Thrashers would be KILLER!! :toocool:

If any team ever moves to San Fran, they gotta be the Bay City Rollers.

OMG that just took me back in time. I still remember when the Bay City Rollers made their much-hyped American debut on Saturday Night Live with Howard Cosell.

(this video appears to be from 1976, they actually made their debut here on his show in 1975)
