I thought some of you might be interested in this. It's the schedule for the 7th man contest winner (my dad) and his guest (me!). I'll keep a lookout for anyone that might be sitting near to where we are being moved down to! Also, there's something funny about the day's activities as well.....
"Below you will find a timeline and procedures for March 29, 2003.
" 10:00am- Arrive RBC Center. Please park and enter via the VIP Entrance
on the South end of the building. I, or one of my staff will meet you
and your guest there promptly at 10:00am
" 10:30am- View morning skate. We will sit behind the bench to view the
morning skate. There will not be autograph or photo access at this time.
" 11:00am- Autograph session with TBD player. We will take you and your guest to the NW VOMITORY to meet one player for an autograph and photo opportunity.
" 11:30am- Dressing Room Tour. You and your guest will have a chance to view the Canes Dressing Room. (time is subject to change based on player needs)
" 12:00pm- Depart RBC Center.
" 6:30pm- Arrive RBC Center. Park in the VIP Lot and enter via the VIP
Entrance. Your tickets are in section 111, row V, seats 9-10.
" 10:00 in First Period- Meet promotions staff at the top of section 115
on the concourse. We will then escort you down to ice level to watch the
rest of the period.
" 0:00 in First Period- You will be escorted to the Home Player Bench
with our promotions staff.
" 12:00 First Intermission- A home sweater with the #7 and the name
COHEN will be presented to you by members of our panel live on the bench
" 11:00 First Intermission- You will be escorted back to your seats to
view the remainder of the game."
I capitalized the bit I found a little odd. It's under the 11:00 A.M. section. Lol, and yes, it really says that! I'm guessing that's a hidden section of the arena where you go if you've had a bit too much to drink?

Heh...VOMITORY? (imitates Baby Plucky from Tiny Toon Adventures) Ewwwww... Anyway, hope you and your dad's Seventh Man experience rules, Folgers. I will be at that game to cheer your dad on when he's awarded his jersey. Perhaps I'll see you and/or him during the second intermission. :) Again, congratulations to your dad! :spin:

Wow you're lucky. I've wanted all my life to go to a vomitory.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy it. That'll be the best part! Enjoy the secondary reward, the game...I sure wish I was you. Or even better, your dad!

OKay folks. I guess we're just not as smart as we thought we were:
n. pl. vom·i·to·ries
Something that induces vomiting.
An aperture through which matter is discharged.
One of the tunnellike passages of an amphitheater or stadium between the seats and the outside wall or passageway.

I suspected that it might NOT be a typo since it seemed like there was no other logical word that would have been similar. But really, do people use that word? "Meet you in the vomitory?"

Mr Masters Degree in English (AKA Mr SHC) over here also had never heard it before. He says that usage should be stricken from the language....it's just too much like the word vomit! He says its "doomed as a word". :D
I was wondering what in the heck they were trying to type with that too. Learn something new everyday I guess!

Hmmmm...
"Meet me in the vomitory near my niche at seven!"
or...
"Most of my work is done in the vomitories of the RBC Center."
I'm not quite sure what to think of that word...on one hand, it's a nice fancy one. On the other hand, it makes it sound like the RBC Center has a hospital or is in a hospital. And I'm not a doctor, nor do I play one on television...though my saying the second sentence makes my occupation sound like it's being a doctor, nurse, orderly, or (gasp) janitor!

Vomitory is an old word.
In the theatre world, we call them vom's for short. As a matter of fact, the show I'm currently working on is being staged in-the-round, and we have four voms and use the word routinely. (example -- "Actor B-- you'll be making your entrance from Vom #2, but at the end of the scene don't forget to exit out of Vom #4. . . )
The word dates back to ancient Greek and Roman theatre. If you look at the Colisseum in Rome, you'll see lots of voms. . . . .
