View Full Version : Random jersey customization question

I know the Eye charges a flat rate for customization if you send off the jersey for stitching, but when I asked about an fairly long name at the mini Eye the clerk implied that the rate for the in-game press-on was by the letter/number. Anyone know if that's true and what they charge per character for the press-on stuff? I'm thinking four letters and a #4 and need to know if it's cost effective to slap some on a cheap jersey. ;) Thanks in advance.

The only four letter words I can think of to associate to #4 I seriously doubt they're going to let you put on a jersey.

I pondered the same thing, but hanging in my closet is a customized third that I didn't think they'd approve, either.

Anyway, this particular joke I'm not willing to spend more than fifty bucks on, which is why I asked about the iron-ons.

EDIT: No, wait. Darkwing was thinking of a completely different four-letter word than I was. I think I like his better.

hmm, that is a hard one to answer. in my time at the rbc center i have seen two "questionable" jersey's. One was the number 69 with "pink" as the name plate and the other was the number 68 with a nameplate that read "UDOMEIOU"! Both have made several appearance's tho' I haven't seen 68 lately.

I don't remember it being by the letter but more of a flat fee.

Just to be clear, I was thinking "HALL".

However, Darkwing's idea is hilarious. With that said, I would never wear something featuring profanity when children are around.

At the Senators game a guy was wearing a Canes white away jersey with the number 69 and the name 'JABLOWME'. Not sure whether or not his real name is Haywood.

I had a couple of jerseys screened on during games last yeat and it was a flat fee. I don't know that that has changed.

That's the info I'm looking for, I guess. I specifically remember the guy telling me "it's by the letter," but that might be above and beyond anything longer than an actual player name. IIRC, the screen fee is $55, yes? If so, sod this joke.

Yeah, Same hear G'Boro, it was $55.00 flat for the Gleason jersey I had done on one of the blank jerseys I have and I had a Cole one done too for the same price. You can also use your STHer discount on that too.

B, I have done quickie screenprinting for my various teams at Spectrum Screenprinting in Cary, I can't imagine it would be very expensive at all for one 10" number and 4 nameplate-sized letters. Certainly not even close to $50...

I'm gonna do a little hi-jack here, but does it bug the crap out of anyone else that they don't put the right "A" (alternate captains letter) on jerseys at The Eye?

I've talked to them about this at the store and they look at me like I'm crazy, but its a huge difference between the ones they sell and the ones they wear on the ice.

I don't even like wearing my black Staal jersey beause the "A" is so bad on it.

I am certain my info is out of date, but I thought the 'satellite Eye' only had nameplates that are in existence for existing players. When I got my Stillman in '06 (see, very out of date) they ran down the list of available player's names at that time. Of course, I was going to wait for it, so maybe that's the difference. But I thought the "on site" stuff was the kind where the letters are already on the fabric and then it's pressed onto the jersey.

I know there's at least one custom heat-pressed jersey (it says FORECHECK) near me; I always assumed it was heat-pressed from the mini Eye.

Anyway, if I'm gonna do a quickie job I might as well just use white tape, which is fine by me.

I never understood why the wouldn't do "Stormy" and 97, kept hearing "copyright infringement". Went on to NHL.com and now have two, an alternate and an away that I unveiled in Colorado.

Speaking of jerseys, 2 Canes jerseys showed up in Puck Daddy's last installment of Jersey Fouls.

LOL I was going to send in the aforementioned jersey from the Senators game to Puck Daddy (of course I took pictures), but then I decided we needed more good PR than bad so I didn't.

I have a shot of a red jersey with "ANGRY COLE" on it from last year's playoffs, but I never sent it in.

Goalie33, you might try calling Play It Again? I think the one on Glenwood does custom lettering/numbering... also, I think ebay might sell the iron-on kind for cheap. If it's for wearing as a spectator, and not playing, should work fine.

Also, Mr Kat chimed in that there is a place in Cameron Village where they had their team's jerseys numbered and it was cheap. Not sure of the name or even if it is still there, but it is a trophy/sports type store?

I have two from my section that I have been debating on sending in. That Sabres Choke thing, I've never seen it- and how embarrassing the dude got the year wrong.

You'd think someone in the Eye would have said "don't you mean 06?" but good job by PD to bring out the ol "they were decimated by injuries and it was hardly fair" bull****. They took it to Game 7, so if they were so damn great, they coulda beat us right? waaaahhhhh as he likes to prattle.

The two that I have pics of full on jersey fouls would embarrass our franchise more, so I'm gonna refrain from sending it in to him until we show some semblance of being relevant again, so no need to pile on and show doofus-like choices, lol.

I saw "ice chick" this weekend on someone's red jersey in sideline premier. sigh.

I like the jersey with LURCH on the name plate and the number 68.
That guy is tall! I'm guessing he's 6 feet 8 inches tall?

I was able to get a Stormy jersey(from the canes)-they won't do it anymore? When I got it, I figured that if I was going to spend 165.00 ow hwatever it was, I wanted one that wouldnt be traded. Santa did bring a black Whitney jersey this Christmas-which I am very glad of!

Johnson-Lambe (http://www.johnsonlambe.net/) -- it's on the same "block" as the library and Fresh Market and is downstairs from Jolie (spa). It's a marvelous little place that's been around forever and does a variety of things. When my girlfriends and I went to the beach for my 30th birthday, I had peel-and-stick metal pieces engraved with the date to put on a picture frame as a thank you. I had four of them done and I think it cost me something like $3 for all of them -- A LOT less than Things Remembered would have been. I also took Minnie's urn there for engraving and they couldn't do it by computer due to size/shape, but they have someone who does that kind of thing by hand. I had three lines of text (MINNIE / Rescued on Oct. 1, 1998 / Missed since Dec. 19, 2009) engraved -- again, by hand -- and it was $25. (They do the urn engraving for a local pet cremation place, it turned out.)

for the better part of the last four years every time I would go to the iron Eye at the north end I would get some BS reason why they couldn't do it so I went to NHL.com for my last one and my significant other bought me my first one (black alternate).

I see the Sabres Choke jersey all the time-- I'm not so sure he did get the wrong year. Didn't Buffalo sail through the playoffs 2007, beating the Islanders and Rangers, becoming the NY State champs, only to choke against Ottawa?

You are correct, they haven't been the same since.
