Wonder if we can make it 3 straight losses to our crappy SE div brethren. Of course, no one is as crappy as us, but everyone but Washington is on the outside looking in.
Whenever we watch a game, someone in my family says "is [insert team name] any good?" (because none of us are paying much attention to the league this year) and my answer always is "well, everyone is better than us".
At least it's HD.

Like the tweet said, not to get lost in the shuffle, but the lines were shifted around at today's practice, and here's the latest version (http://hurricanes.nhl.com/club/depthchart.htm?dcid=12).
Staaly's back at center with Ray and Jussi at his wings. Cully centering Sergei and TKO (I know several folks will be pleased to see him back in the top 6).
Corvo (black jersey) and Cole (yellow jersey) skated the entire practice with the team. Manny didn't practice today, Jorge Alves was in the other net.
It was also mentioned via tweet that the team had a pretty spirited shootout session after practice broke up. Lots of smiles and hollering and stick taps and probably at least one "F*ck off Wardo" in the mix. Jussi and TKO were the champions.
I would have paid more attention to the shootout but there was a Finn patiently waiting his turn to come out on the ice so my attention was focused there. ;) He, Joe, and Erik did conditioning work with Tom Rowe after everyone else left the ice. He skated fine but looked winded.
And they're just about on their way to Atlanta. Suppose that will be a lively plane trip, huh?

To be fair, Jussi was shooting on Cam Ward, TKO was shooting on Jorge Alves. I posted some pictures on flickr from yesterday's practice (http://www.flickr.com/photos/jbk-ltd/sets/72157623128320527/), as usual with the RecZone I have to apologize for the quality of some of these as they are in focus but really, really grainy, but I did snag a few shots of Jussi's move on Cam. I couldn't get the folks shooting on Jorge from my sight line. Timmy and Stephane both scored nice shots on Cam yesterday but I missed those.

Oh my. I logged on and saw SuperDave's avatar and just about fell out of my chair I'm laughing so hard. Love it SD.
We're not the glamour match up but if If I hear or see one more thing about the #8/#87 rematch in PIT, I'll throw up..... Looking forward to seeing how we as a team rebound from 3 in a row, and if they can take it to the Thrashers, who -- and maybe this is just me--- think they're a far more superior team. One of hub's friends watched the last game and it was the Thrasher's feed, and he went on and on about how the broadcasters were not complimentary about the team or the fans? I deleted it before I could even watch it, as I was not in the mood- but I think he was just being a tad sensitive. I dunno.
Anyway- let's hope it's a good spirited game.

Your hub's friend wasn't being sensitive. Their announcers achieved a new low in homerism with that broadcast. If we scored, then it shouldn't have counted because one of our guys clearly dove to get the call. If we scored again, we didn't deserve it because the PP we got was a lame call (Lots of "it should still be 3 to 1"). When K-chuckle scored the go-ahead goal, there was jumping up and down in the booth to the incessant "poetic justice" chant. I can't remember the digs they took on the fans, but there were a couple.

I agree. SuperDave's new avatar made me snort... out loud... at work. Thankfully everyone is still at lunch. :D
I kinda like the new lines. I think they'll play well. All the trade talk sure is annoying, but it means everyone (who isn't an Untouchable) is going to try and play their hearts out (unless they just don't give a crap and don't want to stay *coughAWardcough*. Sorry, he's had WAY too many mistakes lately and it's rubbing off on Joni.). I expect we'll see great things out of Rosie tonight.

Toast- wow. Thanks for clarifying. Hub's buddy was torqued enough to swear alot, but couldn't really elaborate on what McConnell and Elliot said he was so ticked off -- so I was like, dude, these opposing broadcasters are always saying some sh** about our team so I kinda try to tune it out. But since they changed their play by play dude, I'm going to say now, I'm not shocked. He used to be the roving reporter for the Thrashers, and now he's the guy. He wasn't so great as the roving reporter, lol.
So.... ThankS God that we have John & Tripp. :- Can you believe I'm saying & Tripp??? Gosh only knows how he'll ramble on about #12 being named Captain, and then in his allegiance to Rod he'll say some words about him, and then he'll waffle on and talk about Eric..... That alone will be must see TV, teehee.

We have Center Ice so we watch a lot of games (other than the Canes) and we get to hear a lot of broadcasters. I have thought for a while that John and Tripp are among the best out there. John for sure (because he really does try to be unbiased and he really does know other teams) and even Tripp on occasion even if it does appear that John is dragging him along like a fifth wheel at times. I actually think that Tripp is a smart hockey person but just has no filter when it comes to other subjects. Even at that, Tripp is much better than a lot of other broadcasters I've heard.

c-girl, excellent point on Tripp being a smart hockey person but lacks a filter on the fluff. ;)
I'm the same way- we have CI so if there's a game on, we're watching- and now that DirecTV has the scoreboard thing that you can have on your screen of all the NHL games that are on and the "watch now" feature, it can be channel flipping galore. So we watch a ton of games, and my absolute faves besides Forslund- Pat Foley & Eddie O on Comcast CHI, Randy Hahn/Drew Remenda ComcastCA for the Sharks, Bob Miller/Jim Fox Primeticket/Kings. I have no use for Benatti & Laughlin in "DC" or that mess with either of the FLA teams HORRID. I now enjoy Blues broadcasts because Panger has replaced Bernie Federko (he's between the benches) and that causes suffering in the PHX broadcast because they replaced Panger with Tyson Nash  and Dave Strader is still as boring as a baseball announcer. On Canadian TV, Jim Hughson rules on HNIC w/ Craig Simpson. and I do enjoy Gord Miller but he's a package deal with Pierre Maguire and he hurts my head most nights. I don't mind the MSG trifecta- although I can't listen to that blowhard for the Sabres. Ray Ferraro on TSN is one of my fave analysts. So I mostly don't like many of the broadcasters because of the homerism- I think the DAL, MN and COL duos are a bit suspect on some nights; and ANA's broadcast is kinda schizo from the cameras to the analysis, I cant deal; and Bob Errey is the biggest tool and Steigerwald on the Pens broadcasts, they are banned in our house so hub listens to Mike Lange on the XM headphones cause I can't stand to hear Errey and his whining; but the biggest whining comes from Mickey Redmond in DET. DUDE, can't deal with you. I would LOVE Jim Jackson & Keith Jones more , but Comcast PHI seems to have an aversion to sharing it's feed with the NHL and they're on sporadically.
So yeah- in the grand scheme of things- Tripp is not so bad.....;)
LTD?? What arrived at Phillips? #15? :-

From the AJC beat blog:
Christoph Schubert will be out again. Coach John Anderson would provide no further details. Schubert will miss his third game with a lower-body injury suffered Saturday against Carolina.
Same lineup tonight, meaning Todd White and Mark Popovic are the scratches.
Ondrej Pavelec will start in goal.
In a freak accident, assistant coach Steve Weeks was taken to the hospital to get stitches in the back of his head. He was talking along the boards when he stepped on a puck, fell and hit his head on the ice. He was a bit groggy but left the ice on his own. I will check back to make sure all is OK and he attends tonight’s game.

[re Steve Weeks] He was talking along the boards when he stepped on a puck, fell and hit his head on the ice.
Okay, I'm embarrassed to admit it but I did laugh just a little at that. And then I got really surprised that it hasn't happened to at least one of our own accident-prone players.
(*reminds me I now have to put a C on my 4 Staal jerseys*)

Heehee on #15 chatter, no I didn't know you liked to talk about him. Had no clue.
Ok, here's the story on the excessive Staal jerseys - In the year of the lockout, The Enabler (Mr. Socal to you and me) was in his bargain hunting for hockey stuff phase on eBay; he found a White home (at the time) and Red away Staal jersey for $30 a piece, (new and never worn, still in plastic) and he couldn't "resist". Then we come back from the LO and there are new jerseys so I get one of those with #12, then the 3rd jersey, which was a Christmas present, w/#12. I'm re-thinking now, because I the pre-lockout jerseys are CCM's one has a friggin fight strap on the thing, it's huge so I rarely wear it, and then the white jersey has the SCF patch from 05-06 and he wasn't the captain then, and it would be blasphemous to put a C on that jersey- so the RBK and third jersey should be the only two with C's. That would make sense. Uh-oh, I forgot about my Atlanta All Star Game Staal jersey. He wasn't the captain there so not required. Gosh that is excessive for one dude.:lol:

I laughed at the Steve Weeks thing too but only because I always laugh when I remember that's their assistant's name....cause wasn't that the name of the wonder-kid in Mystery, Alaska?
*coughAWardcough*. Sorry, he's had WAY too many mistakes lately and it's rubbing off on Joni.
C'mon. There's a big enough pile-on of AWard that I think we can give Joni credit for his own mistakes. He's not called the ditz for nothing.

Let alone the fact that I find Joni's brand of mistakes entirely different than Aaron's.
I think I mentioned that we were calling him "that crazy Pitkanen" the last game to see what he was going to do next , kinda like "that darn cat". It's "fun" to have an offensive dman, but sometimes I wonder what the point of skating the puck all the way down to the goal line, and sending it behind the goal (to no one) and then kinda doing nothing after that.

Hot damn. The team for the most part looks great. I'm late to this part that ya'll were discussing --but that quote of the day, really hit me. So Rod Brind 'Amour circa 2005-06. I wasn't balling but pretty close and it was a sight to see the locker room and the C on Staal coming out.
Did Timmy split his pants in that fight? Really love that commercial.
Eric's second goal-- OMG it was a bullet; you can tell his "upper body" feels a heck of a lot better- we've not seen him shoot like that in awhile.
puck_it- Kozlov totally turned his back. He looked right at Timmy and then turned. That seems suicidal to me.

I was thinking of E and what she and her family would say about #25. Well I was fussing him out tonight. :ticked:
Oh, and you gotta love the Director (AWard) telling everyone where to be when Armstrong scored that goal- but he had Armstrong. Ok, I'm going stop with AWard (I'm trying ya'll. )

didn't get to watch this one tonight, but just curious what did the lines look like? I heard Staal was back at center, but nothing else

Staal centered the Wizard and the untouchable Jussi Jokinen
Cully centered Sergei and TKO
Sutter centered Rosey and Jiri
Brindy centered Yelle and Dwyer
I could be mistaken but I think the lines stayed pretty consistent tonight to the extent they could with special teams coming into play.

Wow... that is so weird to see Brindy with an "A" on his chest. I mean, I've been nothing but supportive about this whole move... but wow. That's just a different sight to see.

Nice touch superdave
Am very happy for the new Captain. With the hatters in full force, he needed a night like this.
KF, freudian slip there on hatters for haters? :) :D

getting closer! 29-4 now! If we can just go 12-0 we can go on another 17-4 run then be in great shape!

Loved Staal's first goal..keeping the puck in the zone, then going to the net....
I guess he doesn't work hard or get dirty either.
And Tripp was at it worst last night.. I figure I gotta invent skates with lug nuts now instead of laces, since Hockey is so like NASCAR. Loved how he said Cam feels comfortable in Philips Arena and Forslund came back and said, "I think Cam feels comfortable in every arena.
And those were only two of the trippy comments last night.

Ahhh, that's how that conversation started. Didn't Tripp then go on to make some kind of comment about Cam trying out new arenas in Helsinki?

Yup, just glad he did not then allude to the playoffs last year when Wallin christened Gleason's stick.
I could just see Tripp talking about Wardo christening the area around the net to mark his territory...and Forslund wondering what in the heck is wrong with him.

Didn't he have a 4 point night? I thought he had an assist on one of the goals. Just wanted to make sure he got full credit. ;)

I thought so too, but I think there was an assist awarded last night on Jussi's PP goal that I think was taken away later with a scoring change to Joni and Cully. At least that's what the boxscore says. He was on the ice for both of the other goals he didn't score.
