I have a Staal AND a Ward jersey  but will probably be adding a Ward ASG one to the collection if he makes it.

Because I really need 8 hockey jerseys. :eek2:

I have 1 outdated jersey that I don't wear anymore. That's it. I just can't bring myself to spend that kind of money on a single usage item I guess.

But I do chuckle when I see someone with a Pitkanen jersey because he's such....an enigma to me, I'm always like "hmm, I'm not sure about that person". ;)

But add in the boyfriends and i've reached 2 digits, 10.

Which means I 100% have to get an ASG jersey

You are really rich or really stupid? ;)

Or really smart with my purchases. I usually don't pay more than $30-40 for a jersey. And probably 50% of my collection are player jerseys.

The most I've ever paid for a jersey (other than game-used) was $80 for a Crosby jersey (which was only because I was getting it signed later that week).

Picked up a Staal jersey for $40 a few years back, and a Whitney 3rd for $25 last month.

It's all about where you look, not how much you spend...

Same here. I only have jerseys of my favorite players. I had an O'Neill. When he left I wore it or a practice jersey until I developed a new favorite....Cullen. Mine are well-loved and well-worn. And still CCM.

Mr SHC has Markov....got it the day he was traded. And now Sutter.

I had planned to get a new one this summer but....with Finland, ASG AND Mr SHC becoming un-employed again....maybe not.

Mr Kat and I each have red, white, and black. None are personalized and the blacks were xmas gifts. I got my red and white for less than $35 each. No plans to personalize any of them.

I also have 4 Pgh jerseys, 1 from 1991 (Paul Coffey, signed), 1 vintage blue (actual vintage, not remake), and 2 blacks (that came in the auction with the vintage). Oh, and Mr Kat has a Team Canada, and I have a Paul Kariya Ducks jersey ($15 on ebay).

So that's... 12? Oh, and more practice and adult league jerseys and socks than I want to count (40+).

In retrospect, had I known I'd be lucky enough to get one of Tuomo's game-worn jerseys, I'd have probably picked a different player for my black alternate jersey. But at the time I just had to have a black jersey and I just had to have a Ruutu jersey, so there was no other option. Wouldn't trade anything for my Suomi jersey or my 05-06 Brindy jersey though.

I'll probably get an ASG jersey just because of the specialness of the event. And if it so happens that either Cam or Jussi is chosen to be in that game, all the better! :D

I have a few blank jerseys since I quit personalizing them too. My O'Neill jersey does me no good. I can kind of get away with my Adams jersey since Thamthanov wears the same number and my hair covers the name, but, well, I don't really need a Thamthanov jersey

Well, the easiest way to get it on the cheap would be to hunt around and find a blank jersey for a good price. Then contact one of the MANY people on ebay that sell lettering kits. They can probably custom make a kit for whoever you want. Then, either attach the kit to the jersey yourself, or make friends with someone who does alterations, and they can usually do it for you.

All in all, you should be able to get a jersey done up for around $80 or less. ($30 jersey, $25 letter kit, $25 install)

We ponied up and bought authentic 3rd jerseys because I just do not like the replicas in the new generation of jerseys. With the old style of jersey, replicas were fine with me, but do not like replicas in new style jerseys.

rosey12

I have 3 Chad's. I was lucky enough to win a Rats jersey so that was the most recent addition.

It takes a while for a player to get on the jersey list for me, but I've got 2 or 3 that are next in line. You know, when I have an extra $170. ;)

Canes Announce All-Star Organizing Committee (http://hurricanes.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=528090&navid=DL|CAR|home)

RALEIGH, NC – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced the formation of the 2011 NHL All-Star Weekend Local Organizing Committee. The group of 27 civic and business leaders will work to put together the events surrounding the 58th NHL All-Star Game, to be held at the RBC Center on Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011.

Scott Dupree, Vice President for Sports Marketing for the Greater Raleigh Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Alison Barnwell, Executive Director of the Greater Raleigh Sports Council, will serve as co-chairs for the committee.

The 2011 All-Star Game will mark the fourth time that the Hurricanes have hosted a major NHL event, as the team hosted the Stanley Cup Final in 2002 and 2006, as well as the NHL Entry Draft in 2004. It marks just the second major-league All-Star Game to take place in North Carolina, as Charlotte hosted the 1991 NBA All-Star Game.

A full list of the committee members is available at the web link.

Wonder if they'll be looking for volunteers for some of the events around town?

Unless they do it differently than all the prior ones, I expect this will have a big volunteer component.

We're still on the fence about the 12/26 game plan decision. I'm really leaning toward doing the 12, taking my chances on whatever AS event the 12 gamers might get and then just volunteering as my 'experience'.

OH they'll be looking big time for volunteers- similar to what they do for the Draft.

When we were in ATL, we met several Thrashers STHers/fans who decided they'd volunteer for the various events- We met a guy at the Hyatt Regency who was driving various NHL players (He had Rick Nash and Joe Thornton duty at the airport) and then the rest of his weekend was going to be spent with various media -- he told me he was taking CBC people to the airport at the end of the event; One lady we chatted with was an "All Star Ambassador" her gig would be dealing with the families and "guests of the NHL" for the whole weekend. They both explained that they were given a list/choice of what they could do- Some people could only work an "event" i.e. the skills competition and not the game itself- or the autograph event with the "young stars" or the Red Carpet event or the luncheon with the coaches, etc. etc. Whatever you could do, they'd utilize you. From what we gathered, there was alot of good opptys for volunteers to work the ASG itself, because they have so many needs for people not familiar with the building, and because it's a "corporate" type of event, where they'd need people who are familiar and can help play host.

I'd be truly surprised too, if they didn't use volunteers since this event is ripe with opportunity for it.

I'm probably going to try to do some of both. We'll renew 26 so we'll be in the building for the big events, but I suspect some of these other opportunities might be interesting to participate in.

We've had several "just wondering" types of calls . All of a sudden people are wondering about the "extras" we might have since we still own those seats in 304. Answer: Yes, still have them and they're already spoken for. I was a little shocked it happened so quick.

People we have literally not really talked to in "awhile" called starting the day of the announcement. matter of fact, just after I left LTD at the big cookout/Bettman appearance, I had a text that I hadn't checked -someone asking if "you have the all star tickets" - and as I got in my car, the phone was ringing, unfamiliar looking number, and the guy calling was someone we used to see all the time at games were pretty friendly with as "Canes fans" but not BFF's by any stretch, he dropped off after the Cup, and he didn't renew the following year because we missed the playoffs- and I seriously had to dig deep to recall him because we'd just not seen him much; His call was to ask about the tix, and then in the same breath "can you cut us a deal".:lol: Dude... If I'm cutting any deals, It'd be for us to try and lobby the Canes for a "break" (which we won't get, lol) and the $200+ per ticket I'm expecting to pay for all this.:crazy:

Really funny how people come out of the woodwork for these "Events" LOL.

We got the ATL ASG East Jersey which was actually pretty nice, it was nearly Canes red, but more like the old Thrasher color with red in it, and it looked nice, not crazy.

I'm hoping for good looking ASG jerseys for us. Wonder what kind of crazy sh** PK will through out there when he has the media in front of him for the big reveal.

There was an ad in the N&O today about Raleigh Wide Open (next Saturday, the 31st) and the ASG got a mention. Apparently the logo will be on the side of the RBC building and merch will be available, along with the standard Stormy/Storm Squad/promo team appearance.

I believe his mother died just before the draft, so he wasn't able to attend. I felt so bad for him because it was such a great event with the place filled to the brim. As an owner, it seems like you don't get enough moments like that (particularly in non-trad markets).

What time is this event and do you have to have tickets. I figure the boyfriend is going to want to gobble up some swag at the first chance he gets. So I'm thinking we might head down this weekend depending on the time and such.

And I love the logo. As well as that banner, pretty cool.

This is from the canes site (haven't looked it up on WRAL yet).

With the 2011 NHL All-Star Game being played in the state capital of North Carolina, Raleigh, and the popularity of the Hurricanes stretching well beyond the Triangle, inspiration for the banners along the top and bottom of the logo is derived from the official flag of the state of North Carolina.

But I get it now. I told you I didn't think too hard.

If it's not the temperature of hell this weekend, I might go downtown. The rest of my family will be out of town so my time is my own. Hopefully the photog that has the Raleigh Skyline (http://raleighskyline.com/) photography website will shoot some of the new banner. His images are awesome.

This is from the canes site (haven't looked it up on WRAL yet).

Nope, its in the actual logo itself. I see the banners now.

This post is so funny because despite me sitting in my home in Raleigh, in front of a PC, across from another one, and across from a (turned off) television, I have been relying on Socal's tweets to hear about the press conf today and the logo.

I KNOW, I'm a trainwreck. Hi, My name is Socal and I'm a Tweetaholic. Although, I did tell hub that I was breaking our plans for a technical unplug just for today, plus he wanted to see all this stuff too so I have an out, lol.

LTD, we're already making plans to go to Raleigh Wide Open. Gives us an excuse to do something "hockey related". KF- it's a free event, it's been going on every year. Live music, and various entertainment, and things to do for the kids. I went the first year, but these last few have been too daggone hot- it's a neat thing. Started when they re-opened Fayetteville street back up, seems to get bigger each year.

I LOVE the logo. It looks like it was really thought out. But I'm also not getting the NC flag reference. I like the giant window cling, if only it were our #12 and CHI's #88.;)

JR made me howl when he called over one of the SS girls to unveil the logo. He really does appear to be afraid of heights, heehee. I thought the backdrop was so pretty.

Doug Warf did a nice intro didn't he?? Ok, I gotta do one last scan then back to the beach and the unplug.... seriously.

In the Logo: 2011 and Raleigh, NC are on the same type of 'banners' that have the dates on the NC State Flag.

I'm watching the video now, it seems Doug Warf has a new title? Did I miss that. He said he was Sr. Director of Marketing.

edit: answering my own question, from the website:

Senior Director of Marketing / Executive Director of Kids 'n Community Foundation Doug Warf

Thank you!!!! I was sitting here all, "Huh?" But, hell, I didn't notice it was giving a nod to our Eye, either.

I'm planning to head downtown, probably even if it's hotter than hades. I suffered through the (really great) Paramore concert Friday, so I might as well suffer for free. =.) In case it hasn't been linked in this thread, here's the Raleigh Wide Open info (http://www.raleighconvention.com/rwo5/index.html).

Nice logo.

I especially like how JR did the unveiling, sort of a "and here's the moment you've all been waiting for -- unless you've looked at my shirt which features the very same never-before-seen logo."

Love the logo! I'm thinking I'll wander down to Raleigh Wide Open too. I've never been before, but the excuse of ASG swag...that'll work. ;)

That just makes me smile!

And a lot of Ovie's face is blocked by the mullions LOL.

Hey, I just dispensed with my usual low-res protocol and posted a hi-res version of a close-up of the banner (and a few others) in my ASG flickr album (http://www.flickr.com/photos/jbk-ltd/sets/72157624477060983/) if anyone wants to check it out in excruciating detail.

I'm curious how they will handle ASG seating. As a STH in Snooterville, I am assuming I'll be displaced by league folks or some sort of corporate contingent and wonder how they'll make tickets available.

nccanes

I can only imagine they'll block off "X" number of seats. Stands to reason they'd all be the "best" seats, but perhaps they'll be scattered about. Maybe the whole club level + some of the LL.

Anyway, once there is "the leftover", I presume they'll use the age old "Fulls by acct creation date, "26ers by acct creation date", "12 gamers by acct creation date"?

Of course, STHs will probably have to indicate what price level they're willing to buy as well.

All of you "unwashed masses" best stay out of our seats for the ASG, that is all I am saying. ;)

"Unwashed masses" is the affectionate term for people with NO plans, not just a smaller plan. So in this case, the Unwashed Masses don't seem to be getting tickets.

Guess it depends on the level of "priority" they use.

Depends on how granular they get beyond the Full/26/12 and creation date.

No, I meant the "unwashed masses" on this board, every single one of ya, full, 26, 12, none, etc. :spin::laugh:;)

So the Caps have released the Winter Classic pricing. Wonder when we'll get the ASG pricing?

We probably can expect the pricing once the WC is completely done; As you know that we are owners of 2 seats with Mr. Socal's family for the Pens- in the Consol Energy Center. (AND HOLY MOLY they ain't cheap- we really are thankful at how much more affordable the Canes tix are. ) We have had many a discussion with our rep up there, and she's indicated to us that the turnaround for all the STHers to PAY for the tix, and say yeah or nay to the seats that they get is on 8/31. So the league knows how many they'll be able to use for themselves, how many they'll make avail to the general public and so on.

The way she presented it to us, is that the league wants each event "complete" before showcasing the next- and since the WC is before our ASG, they'll go first. So Mr. Socal went back through his Quicken spreadsheet to track back when we paid for our ASG tix in Atlanta, and it appears it happened for the Atlanta game around late September (notification) and then we paid for our tickets in October when they sent us the seat location. Then we got another notice for the Skills competition, and then that Jonas Brothers Pre-Skate with the players event (that was late November and completely separate from the ASG itself).

I'm curious on how the seating will be allocated for STHers and plan holders. But it surely has to be by account creation date. I'd be a little heated if Joe Fan buys a full ST plan and gets bumped up because of it. I'm thinking not, but who knows--- these types of things, anything can happen.

I would assume they would do it as follows:
-Full Season ticket holders by account creation date
-26 Game holders by account creation date
-12 Game holders by account creation date

So a new full STH would have priority over a 10 year miniplan holder. But thats just my guess.

But, if there are people buying plans, just for the ASG tickets, they're probably going to go for the cheaper 26-game plan, because they may be more likely to be more of a casual Canes fan.

I know of a guy who bought a 26 game plan that has no intention of going to nearly all of them, so that he could get ASG priority. He is a Canes fan, but work will keep him from most of the games.

The biggest issue I see with the new folks jumping on the full and 26 plans (I made the switch from 12 to full this year, btw) is going to be a significant increase in the amount of scalpers who want to make that ASG money. I expect that "re-sell" zone to be chocked full of more sellers this year than any other, and sites like stubhub and ebay littered with Canes tickets. There's almost 2,000 on Ebay alone right now, 2 months away from the season.

As an aside, I've seen that huge guy (fat, not tall) that's out there before EVERY Canes game doing the same thing at Carolina Panthers games, it must be his way of life.

I have been a full season ticket holder since 2001. I always have games I cannot attend. Not everyone sells for a profit. I list my tickets on craigslist for my cost (or lower for weekday games). Since the difference between the gate price and STH price keeps increasing (especially week of game), I never have a problem selling. I know others who do the same - not everyone is looking to take advantage of others.

Somewhere in this thread, Butters posted the hotels that had no rooms available for that weekend (I think that was even before they'd announced the dates, he used that info to figure out the weekend).

I would think for the official hotels, you wouldn't be able to get a room, but I would imagine most would have availability at this point.

There was 4 hotels that most, if not all, of the rooms were set aside.

- Marriott in downtown Raleigh
- Renaissance Hotel at North Hills
- Umstead Hotel in Cary
- Cannot remember the 4th one right now

We made reservations at the Comfort Suites Arena right behind Backyard Bistro. They still have some rooms, but not as cheap as we got it for. We don't know if we will use the room or not. Will decide once we see the schedule for the weekend and if they have anything at the RBCC on Friday and also the cost of parking. I would not be surprised to see them charge $20 each day on Sat and Sun.

I think the 4th was the Embassy Suites in Cary, where teams stayed before the Renaissance.

may have two tickets for both events if anyone on here wants to give them a happy home (and pay the deposit/ticket package price).
