Well.... the Rangers are 3-5-2 in their last 10, so it'd be nice to get under their skin and take another one, like we did on the 2nd. Is it mean to want to see Torts' head explode???!

Puck-drop at 7:00PM

LET'S GO 'CANES!!

Well, now we're only 29th in the league. Time to re-start the bleeding...

I'd like the Rangers to continue with their struggle on scoring atleast for 1 more game. I was pulling for them last night, but seriously they looked like the Canes from earlier this year. Take the lead for a grand total of 31 seconds then allowed the Pens to score 2 in 1 minute. Utter collapse that looked too familiar.

Our record right now might shows us in 29th, but I can name a couple teams who are playing alot worse than us right now and the Rags are one of them.

After the utter awesomeness that was Sunday's game, I think I'm ready if there is a complete meltdown in NY

I'll watch it...until the tub calls my name ;)

Well, we can rest assured the Tripp will be mentioning Henry Staal - looks like he stayed in NYC after the Pens/Rangers game as it was the Pens Father's Trip (http://nhl.fanhouse.com/2010/01/26/for-penguins-a-pair-of-fathers-days-a-pair-of-wins/). Maybe Eric's debut as Captain in front of Pop.

I might catch the very end of this one. I'll be out to dinner with friends. They still need to win though, to keep the momentum going.

^^Awwwwwwe... How nice!

Our Eric's procreated and become Captain in the same season. He's become a man before our very eyes!

I will catch the end of the game, unless my tweets tell me its not worth it. Because tomorrow night my wife and I will be celebrating the last day of her radiation treatments :) by going out to dinner.

It wouldn't hurt my feelings if we beat the Rags. But if we were to lose, after playing a good game, that wouldn't be too bad of a deal either. Since I want Taylor Hall. And no CL it is not mean to want Torts' head to explode.:)

Go Canes!!!!

Another, Yeah for Mrs. Doug! Let's hope they can get a WIN for her. It's the least they can do for all her support. ;)

E's right, we'll be up to our ears in Henry Staal info . Henry is literally overdosing on the son/son matchups. Yesterday Marc & Jordan, now Eric & Marc. Usually it's a little more spread out.

The Rags are reeling. This is where we all do our best Elmer Fudd impersonation--- Be Afwaid, Be verrrry Afwaid.

Wow, stupid Callahan. 5 on 3 for a full 2 minutes.

I think I'd rather have a 5 on 4, though.

And Staaly scores to prove me wrong.

Torts' head is about to esplode.

And Staal is saying a Big FU to all those haters who said he shouldn't be on Team Canada and questioned him getting the C

I love this team. I just wish I knew where these f*ckers were in Oct/Nov

Did Tripp just call Seabrook "Zeke"?
 Yeah, I thought his nickname was "Seabie"

What an incredibly interesting game.

I'm watching MSG+ postgame. They're in the Room, but awaiting Torts' presser. The look on his face after they called the 5-3 was indifference. I think he's over it. Dave Maloney, the analyst on MSG is about to collapse in frustration. Poor dude.

Wow on that 1st #14 goal, what a great tip in. So Sergei-like; "Shifty" Eric's shot is BACK. Just lethal.

We looked so strong, all game- I didn't like that 3 PP's for NY sequence, but overall I loved what I saw. I almost wanted to hurt my beloved #25 when he passed up on the shot on that 5-3 but Staaly scored so I'm fine. ;)

They're playing a team game. All those mis-fires that we saw early in the year, they're burying them, they're protecting Cam better and they're working as a 5 man unit. That makes me happy.

Wow the whole MSG+ panel, Trautwig, Micheletti and Maloney appear like they are at a funeral in their little break the game down segment. It's pretty sad. Now they've gone to Stan Fischler interviewing #12. He's giving him mad props. Fischler is pretty prickly, so it's a little shocking. Now he's asking #12 what he would say to Marc about "diging out of a mess", lol.

Torts is up after the commercial allegedly.....

ETA: Torts not very dynamic or explosive. Breaking news from the NY media, Wade Redden was benched at 17:55 in the 2nd, and Torts answered "it's just a coach's decision" Hello headcase city. He spoke glowingly about Cam and the "spectacular saves" he made. Nothing drama filled, so they flipped to King Henrik; he looks broken. "I have to be better, we're having such a hard time scoring". Poor guy. The weight of the world on his shoulders.

Canesluver
01-27-2010, 10:02 PM
Ooooohhhh.... let us know if Torts busts a vein!

One of the last shots of him, my husband said, "He looks like he wishes he were anywhere but there, right now."

SoCalcaniac
01-27-2010, 10:09 PM
 CL. My hub said the same thing about Torts too.

So the presser and the post-game show just wrapped. No bombs, no confrontational behaviors. He really seemed to be of the mindset that his team just sucks. Seriously, he was very blah about what they did or didn't do, and he almost seemed defeated himself.

So here's the deal with Torts- he has to go in these on-off sequences. So they lost in MTL 6-0 on Saturday night. He was on the edge, tense, told some dude from French TV to get the mic out of his face, etc. Then they lose to PIT at home, and he was a little more abrasive- but apparently went nuts in private. So you can't be all badass every night you lose, or it's a mess- So tonight, he's all docile.

It's night's like these you feel "bad" for the guy. But then you see another game and say--- oh, never mind.

SouthernHockeyChick
01-27-2010, 10:13 PM
Yeah, he seriously was having a "Calgon take me away" moment there near the end.

He's schizo....you never know what you're gonna get. No wonder his team is effed.

I've been on a plane all evening, so missed the game.

When I looked at the summary on NHL.com, it is showing a penalty on Brett Carson for using an Illegal Stick. Did they really call an illegal stick penalty? If so, what was the circumstance behind it?? I've never seen one called before!

After watching Pitkanen make one of those cross ice passes to Jokinen again tonight, I was wondering how many goals of Jokinen's had Pitkanen assisted on. So I did some looking.

Out of 15 goals scored by Jokinen, Pitkanen had a had in 7 of them. Out of the 7, Pitkanen had the primary assist on 6. Two of the 15 goals, Pitkanen was not on the ice. So roughly, 54% of Jokinen's goals have been set up by Pitkanen.

Can't deny the Finnish connection there ;)

His stick broke and didn't drop it right away and made a play for the puck.

^ and ^^ -- thanks. I was imagining the "playing with a stick with too much curve" version of an 'illegal' stick. That clears it up, and makes much more sense.

I thought that play-with-the-broken stick penalty was bogus. It shatters/splits, it's in his hand and the Rags player was all over him, but you can see he's just trying to get rid of it, go get a new stick, and stop the Rangers player going the other way. It doesn't really matter, cause we won, but still......

I agree completely here SoCal! I mean a few minutes earlier, if I'm not mistaken, Callahan took a swipe at the puck with a broken stick and there was no call.

He touched the puck with the broken shaft. Textbook application of the rule, IMO.
