K&C has just announced the details for Casino Night (http://hurricanes.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=515047). I'm a little blown away by that $215k fundraising number from last year, that's huge. The Staal "Wanted" poster is pretty cool (click the tickets link).

RALEIGH, NC— Doug Warf, Director of Community Relations and Executive Director of the Carolina Hurricanes’ Kids ‘N Community Foundation, today announced that tickets are on sale now (http://hurricanes.nhl.com/v2/ext/community/10casinoflyer_V03PRINT.pdf) for the 2010 Carolina Hurricanes Casino Night and Wine Tasting. The annual event will take place March 14 at the RBC Center from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. There are 500 tickets available for Casino Night, priced at $200 ($115 is tax deductible), with all proceeds going to benefit the Kids ‘N Community Foundation, which supports children’s charities and educational programs throughout North Carolina.

The Casino Night and Wine Tasting event will include wine tasting stations and non-cash prize casino games such as Poker, Blackjack, Roulette and Craps. The entire Hurricanes team, including players, coaches and front office executives, will act as dealers at the tables during the event. Also included in the night are several wine tasting stations from local wine vendors, a full-service food buffet and an open bar. Last year’s Casino Night and Wine Tasting raised more than $215,000 for local children’s charities.

In addition to casino-style games and the wine tasting, the night will also feature a silent and live auction. The silent auction includes nearly 100 items, highlighted by the popular “player baskets” which are made by individual players and include their “favorite things.” The live auction will include more than 10 items, headlined by the highly sought-after “Trip with the Team.” Tickets for Casino Night are available at the Time Warner Cable Box Office at the RBC Center, all Ticketmaster locations or by calling 919-861-5474 (no processing fee).

The Casino Night and Wine Tasting is the major fundraiser for the Kids ‘N Community Foundation, which provides much-needed funding to children’s charities and educational programs throughout North Carolina. Last year, the Foundation donated $506,220 to 43 different children’s organizations. The Carolina Hurricanes and the Kids ‘N Community Foundation have donated more than $8.5 million in cash and in-kind services over the past 11 years.

So - anyone go?

I noticed that they were still advertising at the game on Saturday despite it being limited to 500 tickets. So I presume it was a nice intimate event.

Oh hell yeah. It was a blast. I'm heading into customer meetings today but will post more pictures to flickr tonight along with a full report.

Here's what I have up so far. More player and auction items will be forthcoming. For some reason my browser isn't pasting links correctly so hope this works.

My favorite photo of the night.

Cute photos so far Dreamie!

How much did that Ruutu basket set you back? ;) I recognize the Finn olympic stuff.

OMG I covet that basket. It was UNREAL. When I get back to the pictures I'll list out the description of everything that was in it. I was pleading with people to keep me away from the table.

OH MY!

Awesome pix AGAIN Dreamie. I know I don't even have to ask you if you had fun. You know I would have been there with ya if we didn't have our previous commitments!

Ok I saw in Doug Warf's blog before the event that Legace had written notes on things that he put in his basket and "why" --- I had to laugh at the treats that were in #25's basket with the Finn Crisps "this is where I get my speed on the ice"

The baskets looked amazing all around. They seem to go for broke every year.

That pic of the young guns is great! I also liked your shot of the Finns watching the auction for the ping pong game with them. They looked into it. Also, everyone looked so nice in their dark suits with red ties. Very nice.

Looking forward to more!

I think my favorite pic is the one of #15 posing at the casino table. It's like he knows to stop and look into the camera for you.:laugh:;)

Wonderful pics, LTD. Congrats on winning Tuomo's basket! Can't wait to see what all was in there.

Boy, that looked like a lot of fun. Maybe next year we'll save our tax money and go. What I would have done for some of those baskets. It's amazing what they parted with! Olympic gear signed, and I'm sure they were game worn, too.

Chad must not ever shut up. You caught him with his mouth wide open. And you got Joni to actually smile! (I love Jussi's letter about how Joni always eats all his Finnish treats. :D) And what was that smirk Rod was giving you? But yes, the posing Tuomo pic is the best. He is so GQ.

Thanks y'all! I just posted a few more, so stop back by if you get a chance.

Congrats on winning Tuomo's basket! Can't wait to see what all was in there.

Hah! Don't I wish. I didn't even put in a bid on it.

I think my favorite pic is the one of #15 posing at the casino table. It's like he knows to stop and look into the camera for you.

LOL He does. I was trying to take candid shots of all the players as they manned their tables, and I was actually standing rather far away and made an offhand comment to a friend that he was being way too serious when he stopped and looked up and gave me a big smile. THAT's why he's my favorite.

I promise I'll share some stories from the event as soon as I get five minutes to sit down and compose them.

I had a wonderful time! My feet are almost recovered - I'm not a heels girl, normally - so yesterday was a sore day! lol

I love your picture of the Rats, LTD. Every player that I got a chance to speak to seemed to be having a good time. It didn't seem like as many people were there as last year, but still a good number.

The baskets were unbelievable. Erik Cole's had furniture!! All of the Olympic items were quite cool.

Just echoing a thanks for the pics, it is very cool to see all the baskets!

I did crack up at "I also have Salt Pastiller with me when we ego on the road."

I am just now going through your pictures LTD and they are awesome. I feel like I was there.

The baskets are awesome. Carson/Dwyer are on my page with the Hangover DVD. And for whatever reason, Ruutu's basket had me cracking up with his bobblehead poking out of his glove
And love Joni's note on the Finn crisp

THANK YOU for the pictures!!

Whose basket has the Celtics jersey in it?

Love that Samsonov has "Chuck" DVDs! Didn't think anyone else watched that show.

EDIT: NM the "whose basket" question. I just realized if I get out of the slideshow the pics have captions!!

HA HA SHC. I was just gonna say- I saw Pothier's name on that basket in the captions.

Btw, I'm a "Chuck" fan too! Neat that Sammy is as well.

Is Pothier from MA?

Yes, he was born and raised there as I understand.

When I get a chance I'll try to better describe what's in each of the baskets since I have some higher-res views and photos I didn't post.

Yep.

I figured it was his since he's our only MA player but, didn't know.

Great pics. So, did only Manny, Ray and Zach make you not feel short? Man, Eric and Justin are so tall.

I totally missed this reply before...I was hoping Andy Alberts would still be around so I could take a picture between him and Brett. Hahaha Worst thing about it all, I was wearing 4 inch heels in all but the pics where you can see me holding the shoes. Rosey12 is even shorter than me....she barely reaches Eric's shoulders in her heels!

Indeed I am. I learned to embrace the shortness long ago.
