We're 7-5 for the month, and no matter what happens in these next two games, the worst we can do for January is .500, which is a big improvement! :D

And... let's see... in our last 3 wins, we've out-scored our opponents 15-4. It's been nice to see some scoring, eh?

This is a College Night (http://hurricanes.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=51889) ticket pricing promotion, so if you need a ticket and you're a college student, check out the deal.

Y'all will have to chear loudly for me-- not going to this one. Unfortunately, there's no local TV coverage, either.

Puck-drop at 7:00PM

LET'S GO 'CANES!!

I'm bringing a casual fan tomorrow night. Casual as in, she only goes when I have an extra ticket

Anyway, her record is pretty darn good. I think we are like 5-1 when she attends. So here's hoping she brings her luck again.

Well, put me in the running for diehard fan. I'm going out of town tomorrow, back in time to pack, then off to the game, then I have a four-hour drive to Fredericksburg for an 8:00 am meeting.

Sleep is so overrated.

You go girl! Be safe too!

When the season opened after the lockout we opened at home with the Pens and my son had a 9am soccer game in VA Beach the next morning. I said I'd do the driving if we stayed for the game. After the soccer tournament we were headed to Emerald Isle for the week. So off we went to the RBC with soccer gear, beach gear, tailgating gear, and bikes. Of course OT and the first SO made it the latest game and we bolted after. I drove thru the rain to VA beach, arriving at 2am while everyone slept. By 7:30am the entire tournament was canceled and we were headed home by 9am!

OMG Flashback E! I remember that whole sequence like it was yesterday. I remember Mr. Socal saying-- "That nccanes family is hardcore";)

LTD is getting that moniker now too- hardcore girl! Be safe....

Come on out to the game tonight ya'll! It's the calm before the so-called "weather event" decends on us - just in time for my much loved 'Hawks come rollin' into town. Who knows what the weather will end up like; and if we do get stuff, who will be at that game. ;)

All you college kids, you can get the Caniac College discount for this game $30 LL/10 UL. Good deal.

Go Canes.....do the same thing you did last night tonight. I think we'll get Ricky D. in goal tonight. Roloson got lit up the other night vs WSH.

It would be so fun to see a hockey game with snow on the ground Saturday night!

The last time that happened, that I remember, before the game, me & Mr. CL got into a snowball fight w/some kids in the parking lot. Unknown to us, at the time-- Mr. CL's car keys fell out of his pocket. So... after the game, as we're walking to the car, he realizes that he can't find his keys! He & I, and about 6 other people, using our hands started digging around in the snow bank & "fort" the kids built on the island we were parked next to. Believe it, or not, we actually found our keys!!

Wish I could be in the arena tonight, but I've got obligations w/my 2nd job. I'd love to see another 5-1 score!!!!

I'll be at the game tonight although not in my normal seats. I have a friend from HS who is in town for a few days so we're sitting together over in 107 with exchange tickets. I hope he gets treated to a decent performance by the Canes. It seems like last time we scored this many goals in a short time span we then went on a 14 game losing streak. Also if anyone is interested I have one extra exchange ticket available for the low cost of ....... FREE. Well not really free because you will have to sit next to me:laugh:. So if you're interested you can PM me and we'll work out the details!

Go Canes!!!!

E, to your story, I'm really really hoping that this game is a blowout in one direction or another by the end of the second period so I can bolt (which y'all know I never do unless medically necessary). If this game is close or goes late I'm going to be toast.

No offense intended to any posters actually named toast.

Despite my best intentions, I have 3 tickets that are going to waste tonight as I just finished working (and have a million real life things I need to do because I've been working too much).

The seats are going to be unused and can't be exchanged (since they were already exchanged). If someone knows someone at the game that is in the UL and would like to move down to the mezzanine, just let me know and I'll send you the seat location - there are 3 seats.

SuperDave,

Did you deliver a "package" for Niclas Wallin? He certainly had a spring in his step tonight. :)

But then my wife said she thought he went off the ice hurt late in the third. He had a great, great game.

Not the exciting , except for our goals...the rest of the game was basically battles on the boards.

Well... I almost called the score!! Y'all-- in these last 5 games, we've out-scored our opponents 21-9!!! :eek2: Who ARE these guys? I hope this'll keep the mouths shut of all the Staal-haters for awhile.

I only got to listen to the 1st period, the tail-end of the 2nd (in the grocery store for most of the 2nd), and all of the 3rd -- so, I'm looking forward to the posts of folks who were there.

Yelle's shortie sounded exciting. I love those!! :D

Hate that I missed a win (especially with 3 unused tickets, lol), but I got a LOAD of work done as I listened to Chuck.

Like CL, can't wait to hear from the attendees. The box says over 15k, so hopefully a lively building.

My 'casual fan' friend is now 6-1. I should have started bringing her back in November. Sorry guys.

We had a fun time with the dude in front of us. He's a Rags fan and of course a HUGE Canes fan tonight. Never thought I would be hi-fiving a Rags fan

And I love how our guys pass up the empty net to get their teammate a goal. Staal could have had another 2-goal night, but instead he passed it to Jussi.

I really wish Cam could get that shut out. And I know he doesn't care about that as long as they win, but damn the dude deserves atleast 1.

I didn't really think the game was all that exciting but, any win these days is a blast. And to see us playing decent defensively...it's a miracle. It's flat hard to believe how much better these guys are playing.

Yelle's goal was freaking awesome. And how about that Cullen goal? He's my favorite. :D

I couldn't really tell what happened to Wallin...maybe got his skate stuck along the boards and twisted something? It happened right by the bench and he almost couldn't make it on the bench. He had to be helped to the locker room. :(

Forslund made a great point on the post-game. Instead of worrying about the possibility of losing a top draft pick I'm going to look at this stretch of good play up until the trade deadline as adding value to our available merchandise. After the deadline, though, I expect us to get back to maintaining!

(sorta....once I'm in the building I freaking always want a win, dammit)

Ya'll this is what we were expecting back in OCT. As much as I am thrilled about this win/streak, I can't HELP but think about what could have been.

While the 1st was choppy, crazy - you could tell the Canes played last night type of affair; we were good enough, and I thought as the game went on, we were really doing what we had to do to win.

I was surprised with the building/attendance; seemed like there were more peeps in there- and I thought it was a good mixed crowd. Everyone had something to cheer for.

Boy you can't say enough about Cam - he just makes it look easy. #12 is just rollin' and I am in love with the Sutter line. Those guys are something- Sutter had two chances that surely people thought were going in. I just love Sutter's tenacity. Cullen makes me sad every time I see him out there, cause the countdown on his departure (with Whitney, etc) and I just love to watch him play. My Ditz Joni, makes me laugh and smile all at once. His D-Partner and those stupid chop-the-puck out moves and when that doesn't work just tackle the guy---- Yeah I'm talking about AWard; ENOUGH OF YOU DUDE. (Forslund, love ya, mean it; but please stop trying to sugar coat Aaron's horrid season, we know what he did for this org. It's done. Stop the pumping the tires of #4)

Come hell or high water, I'm looking forward to Saturday nite vs my Hawks. Just as I type this #88 sets up a pretty goal for big Byfuglien in San Jose. As much as I'm looking forward to seeing the Hawks, I am fearful of seeing them LIVE. Watching those boys on TV every night they're playing, is a totally different animal. Forslund says they're expecting a FULL HOUSE (weather permitting) Oh, and just like that, SHC's guy, Troy Brouwer, just scored, SJ called a time out and it's chaos in the Shark Tank. This is like a rewind from last time they played.

Get rested Canes- these 'Hawks are some scary dudes. Great evening tonight- it was nice to hear Cam in the post game, when asked about the crowd and if he could hear them, and he said "yes of course- we've not given them much to cheer for this season, and they deserve to be able to cheer". Right on Cam....

Well, the Islanders' broadcast was nice. Got into a whole thing about Brandon Sutter and how his dad was in a game on the Island when Brandon's mom went into labor with him (on Valentine's day). Really nice defensive 2nd, the way it's supposed to be (ie, not the Mo "defensive shell"). A-Ward still looks like a doofus. I can't remember who he was after right before he dropped his stick, but every time Ward went to give the guy a jolt, the dude spun off and made Ward look like a goofy cartoon guy running in butter. It happened 3 or 4 times on the same shift. His only redeeming moment was the giggles he got when he way over-led Brandon on the break-away attempt. Brandon came back to him with a "I just couldn't reach it" expression, and A-Ward looks to have given him the "maybe when you're a little older" look and starts grinning.

I'll try to adopt JF's mentality on winning, because I don't know how I'm supposed to feel about these winning ways. I tell my wife, "Well, they won again" with my best disheartened voice. I mean, either they stick to the damned script and lose on the road, or they tank outright, or they shoot for the playoffs and guarantee to each STHs that if they both fail to get to the playoffs and fail to get a high draft pick, then a Hurricane player of your choice will mow your lawn while repeating "I'm sorry we sucked."

I'm dying laughing over here cause I was just talking about that tonight with the seatmate next to me. The dude was very talkative tonight and he goes has Ward always done this chop thing and then pretend he's playing football and tackle the dude. So that was the joke of the night with AWard.

Ok, so my old buddy from Jr.High & High School got to see his 1st ever NHL hockey game and we won 4-1! I told his son, who is considering going to State, that some of the Storm Squad are State students. :)
Did anyone else hear the dude that called into 99.9 The Fan and was complaining that our D sucked tonight? I mean come on dude: 1st we won 4-1 on the second night of a back to back, 2nd we only allowed 12 shots in the 1st and 2nd periods combined, 3rd sure we played a bit differently ie more turtlish in the 3rd period but hey we a won and b played the night before, lastly no sh!t sherlock many of us have said how bad our D is back in Oct/Nov/Dec after we would get beaten 5-1.

I don't know, I guess it kin of hit me wrong to hear someone complaining about our D after giving up only 3 goals in the past 3 games.

Uh, YEAH. and tonight it was chop the puck, then slash Moulson- or was it Tavares? push him and then tackle. > *eyeroll* when that happened, hub, who knows by now that the minute the #4 does anything remotely to catch my attention, to either stick the earbuds and Chuck deeper in his ear; or to put his hand over my mouth because I'm about to start blessing #4 out; tried his little hand over the mouth move and I pushed his hand away and just let it fly. Our seatmates to my right, a great group of people, say to me "you know after you pointed out all of Ward's tendencies, we just expect it to happen with him, and sure 'nuff it does"

Doug- we heard the 99.9 caller; Hub said, what drug is he taking? doesn't he realize this is the most "solidified" our D has looked all season? I guess folks need something to complain about- cause there were a few early callers who were complaining about some stupid sh**.

Oh, and I was coming on here to bust LTD. She had planned to leave the game (if it got 'outta hand either way') to get on the road to Fredricksburg & her customer meeting scheduled for 8am tommorow; we chatted during 1st int. and she showed me the most awesome baby-bird Staal pic right after he scored that goal, and had still planned to get a jump for this long drive; WELL, she "Had to" stay for the 3 stars and got on the road just after all the stars were announced. I hope she gets there safe, that diehard. ;)

A full-house on Saturday would be nice. I don't think there has been one since opening night.

Missed the game, but sounds like Staal is just rolling. Maybe the "C" is what he needed to truly take his game to the next level. Three in a row! Let's keep it going in the right direction boys!

LOL. Yeah since the game was pretty well wrapped up I bolted... after the three stars.

It was actually worse than that, SoCal, I ran into bunches of folks I knew in the concourse, then got out to my car and realized I'd lost my Blackberry. So I go back in the building, file a report, nice RBC security guy walks me around to the 5-6 different seats where I hung out tonight, couldn't find it, got back in my car, tried to figure out how I was going to tell my company I'd lost an asset then travel for four hours straight in the middle of the night and back home in a probable blizzard without a way to contact the outside world when I realized I had changed purses before I went into the RBCC and lo and behold my Blackberry was in my other purse. *facepalm* By that time it was way past 10:00. Diehard? DUMBASS!

ThankS God for Sharks and Hawks on the late night XM broadcast or I'd probably be in a ditch somewhere on I-95.

Regarding the game:

Brandon Sutter makes me notice him. In a good way.

I am trying to savor every moment I see Ray Whitney or Matt Cullen on the ice.

The defense is actually starting to click. Just in time to get Corvo back.

I still really really really miss my Finn. Really. It's just not the same for me when he's not out there.

It is scary how much I love Cam Ward. In fact it's kinda scary how much I care about the entire team.

Downloading pictures now while I'm waiting for the Diet Dew buzz to wear off. Fingers crossed on baby bird shots. That was right in front of me!

The funny thing about that goal was earlier in the sequence, Staal missed a backhand with the net wide open. We all sighed, and he did the same on the ice. The expression was perfect..then he gets the puck back and hammers it twice for the goal...nice.

Who are these Canes and what have they done with the draft pick! ;)

Thanks guys for a nice entertaining game for the international relatives who have never seen a hockey game before.

I liked the solid defensive effort with the exception of Aaron "Right Tackle" Ward who took his requisite stupid penalty and could easily have been called for at least 2 more.

Staal is just a friggin' beast again. 1/2 way through the game, I said Jussi was going to score another FU for the Finnish team tonight - it took until the empty net, but :D

Love the Jussi/Staal/Whitney line & not thinking about the 1/3 of that which is frequently mentioned in rental discussions. Think Staal might have finally found the right counterpart again in Juice.

The person behind me mentioned the "S" word out loud - I told him not to say that word but it was too late and the Isles scored within 30 seconds. sigh.

Yelle - special callout - WOW! That was the prettiest shorty I've seen in ages (not that there have been many recently). He was due to put one in from effort points & what a move to do it!

And Cullen on the angle. Some great shots in this one.

When Corvo is back, can we please please please put Award back on waivers. I can't remember ever being so negative on a player (or even negative at all on a player) across so many games.

Finally, hope Wallin is ok - he was a force out on the ice throwing the body around, making hits, making saves, and making smart passes. Great one from him

They were sloppy with the puck all night in there zone puck were pretty good once they got the puck on the islanders side of the red line, good thing there were playing sound defense with the poor puck play that game could have gotten ugly.

Buzzkill. ^

The person behind me mentioned the "S" word out loud - I told him not to say that word but it was too late and the Isles scored within 30 seconds. sigh.

Hub told me after the game, that our Radio Broadcaster, says just before the start of the 3rd "Cam Ward could get his first you-know-what of the season......" So he got a jumpstart on the neighbor who blew it for Cam. Chuck does this every time, and I told hub not to tell me about it anymore it was annoying.

LTD- OMG what a night. Glad you realized that you didn't lose the BB. But holy cow.

LOVE the pix- FANTASTIC job! I agree, I think we do need to go with Baby Hawk instead of baby bird. #12 has transformed himself- I have heard commentary from "outsiders" (NY Media, Fischler on MSG, and NHL on the Fly) about #12's ascent and how it's not shocking, but just seriously impressive. Go Captain Go. ;)

From my angle, it looked like Nicky took a shot off the side of the foot. He was in some pain as he hobbled off. *sigh*

I love the Sutter line big time. I thought Matty had a phenomenal game.

And what else can you say about #30 and #12? They're rolling right now and it's fun to watch.
