I dont give a **** that he may be an ex-hurricane... but he's not playing elsewhere....
so i'm starting this thread in appreciation for his job as a hockey analyst. Un-be-lievable. Thought this all season long thus far. his analysis has been both accurate, AND insightful.. and as he's been more comfortable and more willing to step out, we've only learned more about the game of hockey. thank you for kevin making this season awesome.
and as much as i love olzcyk, weekes still manages to be fresh... he offers such a different perspective, its great to have him out there, too.
post your love for KW here, because tripp can only dream of aspiring to be his b*tch one day.

Weekes is great - and he's kinda funny on twitter as well. He doesn't overly tweet, but always mentions when he's gonna be OTF (and makes it sound like a cuh-razy gig sometimes, rather than a panel of men in suits calmly discussing hockey, lol) and where he's headed for HNIC.
The thing that cracked me up was him admonishing some of the men on the grammys for wearing ****ty clothes.
I agree - he's been great. :)

I agree, KW is as the kids say, off the chains. He's really insightful, he really does have his own thing going on, and he's not robotic like some of the OTF panelists. I liked how they busted his chops on OTF the other night on his impeccable wardrobe.
I really have enjoyed him especially on HNIC, especially when he's got the western gig (2nd game) Scott Oake finally has a real partner on After Hours since my Kelly Hrudey moved up to the big show in TO, as Marc Crawford and his I-really-am-not-100-my-voice-just-sounds-like-it-is-so-lemme-put-ya-to-sleep voice. What's fun about Shady is that he gets into the games, but not in that crazy-ass Jack Edwards way. He will break down how a goalie made an incredible save, but then he illustrates how the forwards came back, the d-man tied up a stick, and like all ex-goalie/ex-player analysts, he sees stuff that we may have somewhat noticed as the action was moving, but he points it out and tells you why X situation happened or didn't happen. Plus on After Hours, he relates so well to the players like Kelly did and asks lots of interesting questions.
He's a funny tweeter, like E mentioned- and he really seems to enjoy the back and forth of twitter with the fans and his former teammates.(@hedicanbret, lol)
Puck it, I'm an Edzo fan too, I think he's just really good; but #80 is definitely a breath of fresh air on TV, and you can see he really puts a lot of thought into his comments and you can see he's well prepared. It's very nice to see that he's transitioned well in life after hockey.
Love him as a commentator and I am actually interested in what he has to say. It also doesn't hurt that he is easy on the eyes. Can we arrange a trade? Tripp for KW??

Weekes appears on the NHL Network's On The Fly. He's not on every night as they rotate the panel, but he's pretty frequent. If you follow him on twitter, he typically mentions when he'll be on.
He's also part of the HNIC broadcasts, doing color for the late games (I'm not sure if he does other stuff) - so you'd have to have Center Ice for that since NHL Net doesn't typically show the late game.

Thanks. We didn't get Center Ice or NHL this year but I wish we had.
Don't get a chance to see Shady 80 much on NHL Network, but I've been impressed the few times I have seen him. And for what it's worth, I thought he was underrated as a goalie here during some years where we had an abysmal offense. I would LOVE it if we could swap Tripp out for him:)

I have been watching him. He is great. We could only dream of him coming here and taking Tripps job.
I like Tripp as a person, he seems to be a nice guy and I hate for anyone to lose their job BUT I can't tell you how many times I have yelled at him on TV, to SHUT THE PUCK UP!.......:)
