Do you have a STH plan? If so, the below is from the Canes STH FAQ page... If not, I don't know...
Q: What if I lose my ticket or do not have it on game day?
There are a couple of options available in order to retrieve your tickets. First off, it is possible to use the Caniac Account Manager (http://hurricanes.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=45889) online which offers the convenience of email forwarding tickets. Email your tickets to yourself or a friend, and those tickets may be conveniently printed from a personal computer. This can be done up to 2 hours before game time.<o>:p></o>:p>
If you are a Season Ticket Plan Holder of record, and arrive at a game with the realization that you lost or forgot your ticket plan tickets, go directly to the box office with a personal photo ID, and the box office staff will be glad to reprint them.

The key here is if the lost ticket wound up being "used" i.e. "scanned" by the RBCC. I'd contact my ticket rep and tell him/her what happened, and they can check to see if the ticket was used and more than likely they'll do the exchange.
Your issue is going to be whether it has been used, and the fact that you don't have an actual ticket to 'exchange'. So the ticket rep has to be involved because the box office will have a blank look when you're looking to make some type of exchange without the physical ticket. Hopefully this makes sense.

And if the first rep you call doesn't help, try again.
What can and can't be done at the RBC is very dependent on who answer the phone. And probably what kind of mood they're in that day, too.

You can also check in Acct Mgr if it was used. I just did that on several unused tickets because I was getting confused if they were used or not. If you go to manage tickets, then go to the "previous" games (it comes up with the next game for which you have tickets) and then for that game there is a "view history" link. That will show you if they were used or not.
Good luck!
