The home-stand continues......

A few promotions going-on....

The first 15,000 fans in attendance will receive a limited edition lithograph honoring our four Olympians.

Also, they'll be selling 200 one-of-a-kind Carolina Hurricanes green shamrock pucks for $30 each at the Kids ‘N Community Foundation kiosk outside of section 129. Each green puck will be wrapped in gold and autographed by a Carolina Hurricanes player.

I'm not going to this one, so y'all cheer loudly for me! :D

Puck-drop at 7:00PM

LET'S GO 'CANES!!

Me neither (going that is).

This is the last $25/$10 STH game I believe. The people in front of me at the interior ticket window on Sat night were trying to get 2 LL seats and the woman (who took FOR-ever to check) said there were not 2 available. I think they were shooting for the sideline premier sections, but she took so long (and the anthem was ongoing) that they walked away a bit flustered w/o asking if anything else was available.

So long way to say hopefully it'll be pretty full.

Mr LTD decided he and jr wanted to go to this one (I already had my ticket) so I ordered them tickets last Thurs and UL was the only area available for 2 together at the STH special rates. I suspect some regular priced seats and singles are still available in LL but end zones and corners should be pretty full for this one.

We MAY be buying 2 tix from a friend, if so, will have our 2 seats in sec 304, row C for sale to this game. $50 for the pair, please let me know as I'm not going to make the move unless I know we can sell ours.

Looking forward to the Olympic player poster, looks really awesome.

It's game day, yeah!

CL, I hope you're doing well, and we'll definitely cheer loud for you! ;)

Well here's another one of those trap games. The B's got rolled by the Devils last night in NJ, and they are FADING from any hopes of the playoffs and fast. This will be a team- (I expect) that will come out blazing. They need every point. It'll be interesting to see for sure. It should be a good crowd; My hub purchased some of those $25 tix for coworkers who are now ready to become STHers and another co-worker asked if he would get him some tix for his group of 6 upstairs ($10) last week, and they ended up having to have 4 in one row and 2 in another. So it should be a nice/decent crowd. After Saturday night (no promos and it not being a game on the plan) I'm still surprised at how many people continue to come to games. People still care about the Canes regardless of the standings.

On this "poster" - I've heard it called a Lithograph (in ads in the arena) then a poster, then a litho- If it's a litho that paper is far better quality than the posters are, and that would be awesome, definitely more frame worthy. either way, it'll be nice to have something commemorative of our Olympians.

See ya'll tonight.

According to the Twitterverse, Gleason is not at the morning skate and the Canes have called up Jamie McBain.

^^ Plus, Saturday's game competed with ACC, specifically with our housemates, the Wolfpack. I know one of my seatmates wasn't there for that reason (the game was part of our 12-game) and there's a row of guys near us who I have never seen miss a game and their whole row was empty. (Should've moved there to get away from the potty-mouthed kids and oblivious dad behind us ...) I wouldn't be surprised if they were in Greensboro. So factoring all of that into account, it was a surprisingly good turnout.

So this Gleason injury that The Coach tried to will away, is now a concern. I knew things didn't look good when he tore off the ice on Saturday in that 2nd period, I didn't think he was coming back at all but there he was. I hope it's not long term. We need to have the resident bad-ass in the lineup.

That said--- SO very excited to see Jamie McBain get called up. Another first NHL game, woo! We get to see our prized D prospect live and in color. let's just hope he gets here in advance of the game and not require an escort or any of that jazz.

ETA: Maybe no need to get excited. If he's not skating in practices or a morning skate, how is he making a miraculous recovery? Good LORD. From the Canes on Twitter:

The Canes expect both Gleason and McBain to play tonight. The team will either dress seven defensemen or make a healthy scratch.

We're doing the special price. My husband ordered them last month. 109 row L. Can't wait. We were slammed upstairs on Saturday. I tell you, I think it's great we have so many people to show on TV. After watching the Atlanta feed, the people don't show up with downstairs tickets. Those tickets must be really expensive.

Update on Timmy per Chip and the Canes: He might play. They are making a gametime decision whether to dress 7 D's. McBain is for insurance.

No more expensive than anywhere else (except NYC, TO and those places where it's off the charts in the LL) . The deal in ATL is people don't GO to games period. That's why the seats are empty. Atlanta's not a sports town, IMO.

On Chip's tweets: I'm hoping #6 isn't trying to be macho and play through whatever the injury is. On the other side, I hope Mcbain isn't relegated to the press box after all this hub-bub/call up and ends up watching from the PB on his first call up to the NHL.

KF, he took a blast of his leg/foot/LB area and it was a blaster. It was a scrambly situation at the time (we were hemmed in) and then he was off the ice, and like I said, I thought he was done, and then he magically reappeared when he probably should have sat his butt down.

I was told he wasn't at Casino Night, and of course he's missed practice as well, so he can't possibly be "cured". We'll see what ends up happening at warm ups/game time.

Me! It adds up all our donations for the year. So if you hear a scream of absolute delight, I got a Finn or Cam. :D I got Cole on my t-shirt. (Maybe we all should ask Joni's girlfriend to knit us socks, too.)

Timmy was REALLY slow getting up from that blast. It looked really painful. He may have a bit of swelling from it and it hasn't gone down yet.

FinFan, that's exactly what I was thinking regarding Timmy. He wasn't at Casino Night (which involves a lot of walking and standing around), and he hasn't practiced but appears to be well enough to play. I too was wondering if perhaps it wasn't an issue related to some swelling and his ability to work a fit into his skate boot.

Oh, and we're going to try to get there in time for a lucky green puck.

Wow - that was my last game of the season and it really, really, really sucked. Only marginally bright spots were that Cole scored 2 grinders in front of the net and McBain looks promising. A few rookie mistakes, but good speed and willing to take good shots.

Back to hoping we didn't scre* our draft pick too badly and do anything to prolong Mo's tenure.

Until next season...:crazy::sick::bye:

Yeah, that REALLY sucked.

McBain did look great. I'm excited about him. He looked freaking wired as hell in the intermission interview, though. I was dying laughing as his eyes shifting all over the place the entire time.

Pitkanen only got 27ish minutes but it was too effing much.

Why they hell did we scratch Boychuk? I mean, I'd hate to scratch almost any of those lower line guys right now but seriously? Boychuk? WTF?

I just want to win two more games this season: Sunday's and April 3rd's.

The Highlight of the night: Jamie Mcbain getting his first NHL game, watching him take in all the people filing in while drinking his Aquafina on the bench and tracking fans with signs and just looking all around the building before he went in to get dressed for warmups. LTD, I hope the pix you snapped of him turned out! Then getting his first point. Good job to the guys to get him that puck too.

Wonder if Mike Knuble scored any of the seven goals for WSH tonight. I really don't care if he did since he continues to not play for us, but I thought I'd lay out some random-ass comment.

What a crappy game. You'd think that the Canes were the team that played and got it handed to them last night in Newark. Hey Canes, if you're gonna blow chunks now, try to contain yourselves, I've paid good money to go to games, and having the life sucked out of the building before everyone even sat down, makes for a long night.

The horrid and poor play and 7 crappy SOG in the first, the bazillion off sides like nobody knows where to go and what to do, and boneheaded brilliance by forwards and D is just annoying. Manny could have had a better game but then so could the rest of his crew. Get back in and make things look good when it's 2-1 don't score on the PP and boom, an ex-teammate goes out of the box and scores deflating. Throwing a puck right into the slot (Pothier) does not help your cause either. The canes that rolled out 14 losses straight back in the fall, showed up tonight. I had no illusions of us making the playoffs, but I do expect good play. Eric Staal in the penalty box for 4 minutes is not a good look. Line juggling blows too. Alex Picard could have been the one to sit in the press box, and when will the Coach decide to give Zach Boychuk top 6 minutes? Oh wait.... and Timmy, love ya, mean it, but you could have sat tonight. I counted 3 different times that he hobbled off and winced. A night off would have helped.

In the words of the always annoying Pierre Maguire--- apparently the Theater was too big for the Canes. A chance to make it "interesting" as these media types keep yapping about, and they folded. So there ya go.

13 more games........

Thankfully he sat in the penalty box for 2 mins otherwise he would have been up around 29-30 minutes. They have got to keep his minutes to 19-20 as his max. Big difference in his play when he's at the 20 minute mark than he has at the 25 or more mark.

Wonder if Mike Knuble scored any of the seven goals for WSH tonight. I really don't care if he did since he continues to not play for us, but I thought I'd lay out some random-ass comment.

This was less painful than Saturday, though it started out pretty painful. At least we finally got two pucks past a good goalie. I hate that it took us nearly to the 3rd to finally start actually PLAYING. Eric's clean up goal off McBain's shot was so cool to watch from my vantage point.

Got my puck. Silver Medalist! (http://twitpic.com/191ymh) Not a Finn, but I'll live. ;)

Congrats to Jamie! That was a great shot and he had really good minutes. He looks really promising.

Joni is just a machine. He is out there for so long. I just wish he'd shoot the darn puck more often on the PP. It looked like Tim was out for a long time, too (checked: 18 min).

Sad moment... came early so my son could get in line with his dad for the green pucks, and apparently lots of people in front of them were buying 3-4 apiece, so he was the second person in line told "sorry, we're out." :(

OH NO LTD!

You mean there wasn't a limit on purchases? Didn't they do a limit on those Valentine Tees once before? I get that people want to buy multiples but I do think when they do the limited edition signed player stuff, it should be one per. Just me, but the Canes know this stuff is wildly popular. They'll sell them all and can easily sell more. Just my opinion.

They spoke to the head of the KiC organization on the radio and they said they were going to try and do more with the "smaller" items, like pucks, because they cost so little and they can do more. I have a feeling they'll be upping the number of pucks next time.

We didn't watch much of this one, dinner at Dos Taquitos during the first, watched most of the 2nd, and then missed the 2 quick goals at the beginning of the 3rd before the blowout. Seemed like we'd have sustained pressure only to have a quick goal going the other way. But given my level of distraction, couldn't possibly comment on anything more than that.

Too bad about LTD Jr and the pucks, but limit 3 seems fair since people could have a coupe of kids in 1 family. I've never partipated in any of the limited edition stuff, but then again, I rarely get there in time when they are giving away 10,000 bobbleheads.

and when will the Coach decide to give Zach Boychuk top 6 minutes?

He wouldn't be Mo if he recognized the talent and compete-level of a rising young star. He's Paul Maurice so I expect Zach to continue to have his development stunted by playing 4th line minutes or sitting in the press box. Boychuk did NOT deserve to be a scratch last night.

As much hope as I have for the team next season, the fact that Maurice will remain behind the bench after giving fans in Raleigh another stinker all but negates that hope. We will have young team with speed next season that should be playing an up-tempo game and Maurice will kill every bit of offensive flare and creativity they come into camp with and he'll preach patience, patience, patience! Mo showed so much patience last night that he forgot to call his time-out! The most important game of the season he does something he has hardly done all year: dresses 7 defensemen - including Gleason who obviously should have sat out.

Our PP still sucks.

no, I am looking for enjoyment. But since the playoffs became a near impossibility months ago, i've chosen to express my disdain for Cole* and Mo, rather than pump sunshine into a sh**storm.

Next year, it'll be canes jerseys at every game for me pulling for the Canes to win every game. Until then, it's all about embracing the suck and pulling for the #1 pick.

*actually, I'll probably always express my displeasure with paying a guy $3mil who mails in half the shifts, turns the puck over constantly, and damn near misses empty nets from the crease.

Sometimes being a fan does equal blind support. Nothing wrong with that. At least I enjoy this hobby and hope to get some value for the money I paid for season tickets which means I want to see them win. Why have a hobby if you're constantly complaining about it? IMHO, it defeats the purpose. Well, that's my philosophy anyway.

Don't get me wrong. I get frustrated with the team. Sometimes I don't understand what Mo is doing or why the guys make turnovers or do stupid things. But I don't control any of that. I could go on a message board and complain all day long and it wouldn't change a thing. Mo's not going anywhere until JR wants him to go and they'll get whatever pick that they get and the guys are going to play however they play.

Because the hobby then becomes *****ing and complaining.

Winning at home is always a good thing, I don't care who you are or what kind of fan you profess to be. There are 7 away games left that people can cheer for losses in the privacy of their own home without bugging anyone else.

BINGO. I'm personally not a self made millionaire or trust fund baby, I've paid good money to see effort and a good product, and I expect that every game I watch. whether it's game 1 or game 82.

Winning at home is always a good thing, I don't care who you are or what kind of fan you profess to be. There are 7 away games left that people can cheer for losses in the privacy of their own home without bugging anyone else.

Plus winning at home is likely to leave a good feeling within the fringes of a fan base, who will likely look at the overall- well they played horribly at the beginning of the season, they tried to make a run of it, and they at least finished strong. For casual fans to return for next season, that's key. There are diehards who will continue to support/pay/go to games. Well in the scheme of it all, many of the diehards aren't going anywhere- it's the other parts of the fanbase that you have to consider. BESIDES, one would think- (or maybe we shouldn't presume people think) you would want your team to do well before they scatter off for a long summer.

Oh! So that was Jamie on the bench. I thought it might be.

(ignoring the Cane bashing)

My husband got some good shots during warmups. I made him get a good one of Tim to put with my puck. :)

Pizza is fattening, full of cholesterol and not good for you.

I wish there was a little winky face after that so that the tongue-in-cheek-iness of that comment could be blatantly seen instead of just hoping it wasn't coming from a really REALLY high horse.

It wasn't a cheeky comment and it wasn't coming from a high horse. It's my opinion and belief as I don't eat it. If I had intended to put a "winky face" there it would've been there.

Wow what a weird game thread! Now let's go out there and kick some Caps a$$ tonight! ;)

EDIT: Wow I made it weirder by posting in the Boston game thread instead of the Caps one..geez..lol

OMG, you eat them together?!? I think my arteries are hardening just thinking about that combo!

Love me some Pierogies, though. Although, being of Italian descent (I'm a redhead AND Italian...do you people get me now?), we smother then in marinara. :D

I actually don't (but do like them individually)...it just sounded good for this thread. :)

And the only thing you should smother your pierogies in is butter!

I made "Flavor of the game" for this one! That's me opening my Timmy puck.
