Whoops.

wow!!! what a shocker right there.
Chicago needs to wake up...big time!!!

Boring. The most excitement in the game was the national anthem. And I am vaguely rooting for the Nucks.

That game last night was brutal. The 'Hawks need to wake the F up. That was horrendous.
I'll admit VAN has alot going for them, particularly the Twins, but seriously, the Hawks didn't even show up. Mind boggling. Now we'll probably have a goalie issue- and lord, I can't even deal with the thought of Huet getting pulled back into this. Niemi had a couple in that game that he should have had, HOWEVER, when your people in front of you are playing like they just laced em up and have no clue, you can't should all the blame. Arggh I wanna pull my hair out.

Those boys are trying to drive me to the kookoo house.;) MUCH better.
The Sharp shortie---- BEAUTY!
I think I like Kris Versteeg so dang much because he reminds me SO much of Joe Pavelski. What a great goal.
SHC, I agree on Ladd & Seabrook--the two of them had great a great game overall, but that whole thing at the end, nice. Chalk it up to the boys from The 604.

NBC falls for Pizza Party Hoax (http://deadspin.com/5530840/nbc-falls-for-silly-nhl-pizza-party-hoax)
Both MSNBC and NBC Chicago got suckered in by an obviously fake story about members of the Canucks being fined for planning a pizzeria crawl of Chicago's deep dish establishments, and reported it as fact.
It started when Hockey Independent ran what was clearly a joke story about Kyle Wellwood and Shane O'Brien being disciplined for organizing a "pizza crawl," as they head to Chicago for their second round matchup. As the story goes, they accidentally invited the entire NHLPA Facebook group...
Definitely click the link to see the Facebook page.
ETA: Here's a follow-up (http://http://hockeyindependent.com/blog/bdgallof/15725/) from the original author of the "story".

Aaryn, Ryan Miller called into the MSNBC "post game" show after Team USA (was it the first Canada game all? or in advance of it? ) anyway, "Ryan Miller" (an impersonator) proceeds to chat up Geist about the Olympics and such and come to find out, it wasn't Miller. Geist issues an apology, and it was all over Twitter. Could have been worse, but it was pretty bad. If you listen to the caller, he sounds nothing like Miller- sounded like some guy from NY or NJ.
I think we posted the video and had a long discussion about the whole thing in the Olympics thread.

Tonight's game has been epic. These teams really don't like each other at all. Hard checking, trash talking, cheap shots galore, players taunting the home fans.. Playoff hockey at it's best. I hope this one goes 7.

No we need to end this quickly.
What an outstanding game. When they said "John Forslund & Darryl Reaugh coming up" I groaned, then I thought ok, JF can handle Reaugh's kooky commentary, and it did seem to go fine.
Dustin Byfuglien = AWESOME. He was all up in Luongo's face, and he got rewarded.
The series is wayyyy chippy, so my concern is for long term health of Hawks players if they can get a stranglehold and win this series. it's getting UGLY on both sides and in the stands.

Razor doesn't seem quite as annoying with Forslund. Or maybe I just learned how to tune him out. He made some comment about cholestrol in a hockey sense - don't remember the exact quote - and Hubs said "WTH is he talking about?" I told Hubs to just listen to Johnny and pay no attention to Razor.

The Canucks are absolutely losing their sh*t. If they end up losing this series, they'll have only themselves to blame.
I can't believe even the Sedins have lost their mind.
5-2.
So you talk and talk about how goony the 'Hawks are and then you handle yourselves like this? At home? W.T.F.
And the parade to the box continues. If the Canucks cannot reel themselves in, they are f*cked.

If the refs had picked up that delay of game call and Bieksa's crosscheck, there'd be five guys in the Canucks' box and three of them would be waiting for their penalties to start.
Yikes.

They have absolutely lost all sense of composure.
On that delay call -- I've seen that before in one of our games I think, when there's a delayed penalty call, the play ends when the offending team gets control of the puck, right? So I think the "whistle" goes before the puck goes over the glass, and takes precedence over the delay call. At least I somewhat remember that explanation one time I was going "ya but what about the delay call?"

Oh MY. What a kerfuffle. Someone please tell me WTF is wrong with VAN?
Did they realize this series was "on the line"??? I could not believe what I was watching- it was like ok we just give up so let's just be freakin' idiots and take some dumb ass penalties? G33's right, the missed call would have had a bunch of Canucks in the box with other penalties waiting to start. Good grief, it was almost "easy" to win that game.
Jonathan Towes is so high on my favorite player list. All 3 of those goals--workin' goals. Loved it.
The good news was Darryl Reaugh was not at JF's side, and he was with the partner he should have all the time, Ed Olzyck. They are such a good tandem.
So tomorrow night at The UC is going to be INSANE. The 'Hawks just need to stay with the plan, stay in their shoes/skates. So exciting......

OY on Salo. No wonder there was so much angst about cameras getting close to him/following in Twitter land. That just sounds awful. Reminds me of Patrick Thoresen when he played for PHI.
So my Hawks BLEW IT last night. They never even gave their fans a chance to go nuts, with that 1st goal being scored in less that a minute into the game. GRRRRR. you don't give them life kiddies.
They looked so flat. Maybe they thought it was done deal or something I just don't get it. Well, I guess the handshake line will have to be on VAN's home ice.

I can't count out the Canucks because I feel they realistically think it is their year. The Sedins' are playing well; they're getting support from their depth players, and there's always the talk about the Chicago goalie situation that could collapse in an instance.
It's the Hawks series to lose, though.

Is it just me or does Luongo look....um....not good.
He looked like sh**. and did you catch him in the postgame? Not vigorously calling out his teammates but he sure was pointing fingers at everyone but his own damn self.
Then he says "I still don't think they're a better team than us" Who in th FRICK are you Luongo? And what did you ever do to have all this arrogance in you? (you didn't do anything to win that gold medal dude, so I don't really care that you latched on the train and got it-- you were not a factor, and I'll say it til I die). Luongo is a choker- lost to the same team AGAIN- in a do or die game, a year to the DATE of the last epic collapse (he said in the post game- well at least I kept it under 7 this time. Oh, that's really funny.)
I like a few guys on that VAN team, but I figured out last night why I really don't like them as the "Canucks" team- It's Luongo. He's a jackass, a little too smug and he's overrated. It irks me to know end, that he gets all this pub, and in some circles (no, check that many circles) he gets mentioned above CAM WARD, Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe Trophy winner 2006, and he's not even in the conversation. (see Team Canada. I know Cam was hurt, it totally hurt his chances- but even going into CGY for that camp last summer- they already had Luongo's sorry butt "penciled in" at #2 behind the other dude Cam has beaten handily).
The beer throw at that guy in the Hawks jersey speaks to the arrogance that the team has; and the fans in Vancouver who drank the kool aid. Throw that beer at your overrated talking-to-much goalie not a fan cheering on the better team who was just minding his own business. Jerks.
The Hawks were on a mission. I was SOOOOO happy for Troy Brouwer after all of the issues with his dad and how it really messed him up, and he got scratched for most of this series--- he's one of my favorite Hawks, so I was about to do a dance in the living room when he scored. Brouwer became a bigger favorite when the Hawks landed here for that infamous snow/ice game with all 5,000 of us in the RBCC. We got seats on the glass as a 'treat' because my Hawks were comin' to town- only to be pretty much alone in the bldg because of storm- when it was to be a big ol sell out. Brouwer, as is the norm with all these visiting hockey teams, found a brother& Sister duo clad in Canes/Hawks jerseys, down on the glass and sorta friended them- tapping the glass with his stick at the little girl (Hawks jersey) waving at them both as he did his sprints around the ice; and so forth. At the end of warm ups-- Brouwer got the two of them over to the Hawks player tunnel and gave them both game pucks. The parents were probably more excited than the kids it was so hilarious. I thought the mama (Chicago jersey) was gonna burst she was so happy. The equipment guy for CHI came out shortly after that, with Blackhawks hats for the four of them. So that- to me was just a really cool thing; nothing is new or inventive about these little exchanges- but when you see a player go out of his way to engage the fans- you just get a little soft spot for them.
So all this leads to the moment of dread for me. It's My Hawks and My Sharks in WCF! Oh the irony and hilarity of it all. I am gonna be a schizo mess in this series. I don't even know what to do. It's gonna be a good series, I'll say that- who will win, lord only knows and I know one thing; I'll be happy for one, and cryin' for the other.

These type of comments from losers is so infuriating. If you lose in the playoffs, the other team BY DEFINITION is better. It doesn't matter about what's on paper or what potential each roster has. IT'S WHY THEY PLAY THE GAMES!!!
BTW Bobby Lou (:hurl:), you didn't even get to game 7.

I'm right there with ya. The bf is full on Hawks since he's from Chicago and I like Chicago too, but I do have a soft spot for the Sharks. I guess this will be one series where I'll be happy every game cause atleast one of my west teams are winning
And I know the Nucks pretty much laid an egg in the 3rd, well Louie did, but I was disappointed in their fans leaving early. Its the last game you'll see your team this year and you leave early. Maybe i'm bitter cause their team actually got to the playoffs, but damn, there is just no way I could have left early.

It reminds me of when my beloved Thundering Herd beat BYU in the Motor City Bowl about 10 years ago. We won 21-3, took out not one BUT TWO of their QBs (there's an awesome clip somewhere on YouTube, I think, of one of those QBs chewing his o-line out after yet another sack/hit) and they were playing the third-string QB and you know what those douchebags had to say after the game? "We've played tougher defenses." Really? So you didn't score at all in some games?

A goaltender should never be a captain in the first place. You can't effectively perform the duties of a captain and be a goaltender at the same time. It's impossible, because sometimes a captain needs to scream at guys on the bench, go to center and talk to the ref for 90 seconds (which is why goalies aren't allowed to be captain in the first place, the Bill Durnan stall rule), or grab a guy one-to-one before his shift and get him pumped up.
Luongo is still easily in the top five in the league as far as pure puck-stopping talent goes, but he's got to get his head in the right place, and that'll never happen while he has to worry about trying to act like the captain and try to take on those responsibilities both on the ice and with the media.
As far as the actual game goes, Luongo wasn't great in the second half of the game, but the Vancouver D was incredibly soft. Wellwood let Brouwer go, Bieksa coughed up a pair, etc. Some might see Luongo throwing teammates under the bus, but the man coverage on all of the Chicago goals was poor, even if Luongo probably should've had #3 and #5.
