First off I didn't really know where to put this, but it seemed like a good idea at the time to put it in this forum.
Alright, I'm gonna ask you all for help cuz if I ask on any other board the results probably wouldn't be too good. As some of you may know I'm a big fan of goalies and of Irbe. I'm doing a speech in public speaking about why the Hurricanes shouldn't trade Arturs Irbe. What I need are some good, solid reasons why they shouldn't. I already have down because he has playoff experience and such, but I need some more reasons. Also, this is report for school, so no things about they should keep him because he's cute or anything............
Also, I know that this is not everyone's opinion on here and some of you feel that he should be traded. I know this already and I don't need to be reminded of that in this thread. I also know that some may think, "He's writing a paper on why he shouldn't be traded and he's on here asking us for help." I am aware of this also, but I figured that a lot of you have been fans of the Canes for longer than I have and more than likely know more than I do, so that's why I'm asking. Please, only helpful comments.
Thanks for helping out guys (and gals)..........

It might help to know what "angle" you are taking with your speech. While it would be difficult to defend his performance this season and somehow project that he will return to form and thus be a valuable asset for the Canes, you could focus on his workhorse devotion to this team over the last 2 seasons and earning the contract that was signed last year.

I don't know if you have this down or not but he has broken alot of records in our organization, for instance he broke Sean Burke's record for most winningest goaltender and broke a record for shutouts. He also has the #1 selling jersey out of the whole team. He is also very popular with the kids. I have seen him at the Rec Zone and all the kids gravitate towards him, and totally forget about the other players. He is also like the Rod Brind'amour amoung goalies in and out of the locker room.
I hope that can be to some help for you speech

Weell....you could always talk about the fact that the team as a whole seemed to fall apart starting with Brindy's and Erik's injuries and how a lot of times it seemed that Archie had to carry the weight of the team's success on his shoulders.
You could also mention the fact that his breakdown of play could have been agravated by the fact that the management appeared to have no respect for his accomplishments thus far. ie...benching him repeatedly after he had a few bad games and sending him down to Lowell TWICE.
I have links and copies of stories written about those events if you need them.
You might also ask the lady on here under the username Guinevere for help. She knows a lot of facts about him too.
