So apparently we picked Troy Bodie up off the waiver wire. He's a 4th liner at best, so not sure why we need him.
Canes claim gritty RW Troy Bodie on waivers from @AnaheimDucks.
ETA: Alicia beat me to it.
ETA: Chip says he will playing Friday in Pittsburgh. Guess that means someone (POS, Tlusty) is hitting the waiver wire Thursday. No way we sit two in the pressbox, just don't see it happening. Big audition for POS.

At 6'4", 213 pounds, he's now our biggest forward. I would assume the theory is we'll have a big net presence we've been lacking. Let's just hope he actually goes to the net.

what the hell...not like the team of forward is really going lights out offensively...he has a big body which is something the forward lines really lack...and honestly what can it hurt? maybe the canes will get a 10 spot hung on them in a game now?

Don't we have enough guys who can't fight already?

First part I saw of this was that we picked up this big guy and I'm thinking, finally, a big physical defenseman and then I saw the rest of the tweets and realized....he's a forward. *sigh*

We have acquired another marginal NHL player at minimum salary. That is the one position that we are solid at.
JR, how about a good winger for Christ sake? Maybe a defenseman or at least a traffic barrel to replace one of the traffic cones we have. I'd settle for a 50/50 face off guy and you go out and get us a fourth liner. WTF?

I guess he felt like (as many fans do) we needed size. Saw an opportunity with little risk and took it.
From JR's comments (http://blogs.newsobserver.com/canes/canes-claim-bodie-off-waivers), doesn't look like this the last of the moves he's planning.
I always say I don't give a rip about our 4th line, but maybe because we haven't had a decent/consistent one since the Adams/Adams/Larose days. Doubtful this move will change that but it will be nice if TK has a linemate more of his ilk.

Maybe when GMs have told JR they need "more" for whatever good winger he wants he's interpreted that as more in quantity rather than quality?
Whatever, I'm sure it's Mo's fault.

FYI, I know nothing about this guy other than what I have read but, he's the one in the pic below with the giant 'stache so, obviously, I LOVE him.

He's another sleeper like Matt Cullen. Right?
Although I want him to fight. Semi enforcer?

in some positive light there was some twitter buzz that the quack quacks just gave this guy away for nothing and it was a mistake. we'll see. I doubt it.

In the pic here (http://hurricanes.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=543749), he kinda looks like Sidney Crosby. I had to look twice and check the linky to his player page. Funny...he still looks like Crosby, except with the dirty blond hair.

We all question the evil genius of JR, and then find out that this guy is the TommyK replacement... nicely played JR from my seat.

I'm trying to decide if I'd want him to play like a blond Sidney Crosby. I mean, a huge portion of why he's so good is that he's smarter than everyone else....but if he were blond.....;)

Not that I've watched every game Brodie has ever played, but no way can he replace TK's hustle, work ethic, energy and all around play that he brought EVERY night.
