From Sundheim on Twitter:

Congrats to Cam & Cody Ward on the birth of their son, Nolan Kennedy Ward, at 6:33 this morning!7 lbs, 1oz & 20"

So is it Pete Dawg tonight or do we do the Leighton thing when his daughter was born?

^I'm pretty sure its not up to Mo. I'm sure Mo will let Cam make the decision whether he wants to play or not. And can we please stop beating a dead horse its so freakin annoying.

Anyway, Congrats to the Wards. I know he is estatic that he was able to be there for the birth of his first. He told me Monday he was worried that Cody would go in Labor while they were travelling this weekend. So happy for him that he was able to be there for her and see his new baby boy be welcomed into the world.

^^Enough w/the Mo crap. I'm really getting tired of it. Is there really a reason to throw this in here?

I'm sure this will be a group decision with all the coaches and Cam.

And much congrats to Cam and Cody. May this new Caniac baby be a good blessing for them, their family and the Canes!

Very happy for the Ward family! It was interesting to hear Cody talk about (on the radio gig they did) how they just weren't focusing/considering the timing issue and knew it would all work out. Good for them!

This is a day to celebrate- not talk about the Coach. We have a forward of the future in Parker Staal (no pressure) and now Nolan Ward is surely our goalie of the future (no pressure x 2!).

Having seen how great Cam is with kids- especially his cute little friendship with Little Kam, I'm so happy for him and Cody. He's going to be a really good daddy. Their families must be over the moon. A baby boy.

I bet Cam will play. It's just a hunch, but since we know that Tommy B takes the responsibility of the whole goalie thing, I think he will talk with Cam and they'll take it from there. Cam has always struck me as the bigger the moment the better kind of dude. We all know his backstory in that vein. He'd be playing for his team and his new baby boy. Something about that thought makes me believe he'll play. If he doesn't that's ok too.

Congrats to the Ward family.

As far as tonight's game, it's kind of a tough situation. The Checkers are playing in Norfolk tonight, so if one of those guys comes in, they will have to fly in somebody from Florida (who is off). Being the father of 4 myself, I can't imagine trying to operate at a level of NHL goalie sharpness after losing a whole night's sleep "coaching" my wife through a birth. If they ask Cam, he's probably going to say he's good to go. Mo and Barasso need to make this decision and get somebody on a plane.

What do I know?

I presume that Cam would agree to being Peters' backup even if they didn't play him. I don't think this would be a call-up situation (unless Cam got an epidural or something )

Morning skate has wrapped; & @CanesCountry is tweeting that Pete Dawg will start.

Let's please get a win for Peters!

See, if I was going to be in the arena, I'd rather play. Otherwise, I'd rather be with my wife/baby then sitting on the bench for 2.5 hours

You guys forget.....we're playing the Caps when they are on a bit of a downturn and AO is on a snide. Whoever the back-up is, it's probably safe to assume he'll play at some point!
