Wow, and I not enjoying the out-of-the-woodwork, Penguins fans throng making the BJs feel like their are playing a road game in Nationwide Arena.

OK, the game may just be too fast for the naked eye at this point. Boston just won the game in OT and the ref waved it off. He was in position to see the puck in the net....but didn't. I saw if from here! I mean from the view you get from the TV camera I was absolutely, 100% positive it was in. I have no idea how he missed it.

Luckily, after they kept playing for a few minutes with everyone in the world except that ref knowing the game was over, they reviewed it and called the game. Crazy.

Speaking of crazy, anyone see that Grabovski shootout goal last night? Dayum.

Speaking of crazy, anyone see that Grabovski shootout goal last night? Dayum.

Saw that game & the Caps choke job; & the goal by Grabovski- holy cow. That was unreal. We were at the Canes Corner event for #59 tonight at Backyard Bistro; Before Chad got there,we were watching all their TV's going, which were on ESPN- even they were talking about it and showing the replays.

The OT in the Boston/BUF game, head scratcher why it was waved off. The goal was originally credited to Seidenberg, but eventually went to the other ex- Cane, The Recchin' Ball.

Oh, you mean the OLDEST player ever to score an OT goal? I bet he's lovin' that distinction.

I have no idea where else to share this -- it doesn't need a whole thread, but it's too pawesome to not share ...

There's a local dachshund blog (http://kalyxcornucopia.blogspot.com/)I follow. Every morning, I start with a quick skim of Facbeook and then I check out Baxter's newest post. His mom makes custom dapper dachshund duds -- harnesses (from daily ones to upgraded with detachable butterfly wings (http://kalyxcornucopia.blogspot.com/2010/10/dapper-doxie-duds-butterfly-effect.html) to fancy corset-inspired ones with matching capes (http://kalyxcornucopia.blogspot.com/2010/11/dapper-doxie-duds-miss-menace.html)), Elmer Fudd hats (http://kalyxcornucopia.blogspot.com/2010/10/double-posties-elmer-fudd-flapjack-hat.html) (including a couple that hold snackies (http://kalyxcornucopia.blogspot.com/2010/11/etsy-peekypoo-elfin-fudd-flapjack.html)), and so on. She makes some people stuff, too. My mom and I both sew a bit, so we love the blog because 1) duh, it's a dachshund! and 2) we enjoy his mom's crafty/sewing skills.

So a while back, someone had her make an LA Lakers-inspired dud (http://kalyxcornucopia.blogspot.com/2010/09/dapper-doxie-duds-island-boy-and-kona.html) and a lot of us, of course, immediately thought of dudding our doxies in support of our favorite teams. I am currently dog-less, but I have already requested Canes and Marshall numbers for when I re-dachshund my home.

Anyway, I give you that backstory, and I mention this at all, because today, she posted the first hockey harness -- Baxter Crosby (http://kalyxcornucopia.blogspot.com/2010/12/flapjacks-n-duds-pittsburgh-penguins.html). Baxter's wearing it in the picture, but the black and tan doxie above is the one who will be getting it. (Yesterday was the first football harness, for the Denver Broncos (http://kalyxcornucopia.blogspot.com/2010/12/dapper-doxie-duds-bentley-denver-bronco.html).)

So it appears as though Saturday's HNIC game between Toronto and Montreal will be available in 3D on TWC. I don't know if anybody else bought a tv that came with 3D capability but I've been unimpressed with the couple of football games I saw in 3D.

I still don't see a whole lot of value in 3d tv. (and before you ask why I bought a tv that had 3d if I dont really care for it, it's because the TV had everything else I wanted and the 3d stuff was thrown in for free)

OMG, did anyone else just see Bobby Ryan's goal? He got his stick taken away, ended up getting someone else's (Koivu's they are saying) stick, scored....and then showed his stick to someone. Not sure if he was showing it to his teammates going "look what I did!" or to the Wild players going "Up yours!" Either way, it was hilarious.

Oh, and the Caps got owned again. Great night so far.

BrindyFan- Saw that Linus Omark goal- LOVED IT. and the whiny Lightning players yapping about how it was "disrespectful" -- uh, wait, isn't that what the shootout was supposed to be?

SHC, Saw @B_Ryan9 . ROTFLMAO at the look on his face- & I kinda thought he was trying to say "up yours" to MN - the whole sequence was just awesome.

On the Caps-:laugh::laugh::laugh: We were on our way back home from the Checkers game (they beat up on the Caps farm team 5-3 YEAH CHECKERS!) and heard the first 5 goals in the car. We kept laughing saying "wonder what Doughboy looks like on the bench" Dave Maloney on the Rangers radio on the Marc Staal 2 on 1 shortie: "I think the Rangers did a secret trade with Carolina - that looked like Eric"

The Caps are REEELING. I dont' know if it would be so far fetched to suggest that Boudreau is seriously on the hot seat and could get canned. I did have a chuckle thinking about this Caps/Penguins 24/7 HBO thing that starts on Wed, I'm watching because I'm nosy, and I want to see the inner workings of a team, not because of 87 or 8---- but HBO has been following every move of each team since what? a month or so ago? - how much of this free fall will be shown?

I was wondering the same thing about the Caps and the 24/7 thing. For some reason, NHL Network has picked up the Comcast Caps broadcast twice in the last week, so we've caught some of their games. Last night it seemed like you could even see the wired mic thing on AO's already strange spine/ass pad that sticks out and makes him look like a geisha girl.

I've noticed the promos show it as rated "MA" which is mature audiences, right? Guess there won't be any bleeping.

I don't get HBO at the moment, so I doubt I'll see this (though I have been meaning to call TWC to make some changes so maybe we'll end up with it for a bit).

 LOL @ Geisha Girl, that's good. Yeah, he's wired for sound as is Crosby; I saw his wired/mic thing when he was doing a post game interview on FSN PIT.

E, I don't know if you saw it - but this will be like "Hard Knocks" that HBO documentary that followed the NY Jets all season; So the F-bombs will fly, fly, fly- all in that "raw, unedited" mantra that many of these HBO specials take on.

I've got it set on TiVo, I just think it'll be super interesting to see the inner workings of two NHL teams, even if I'm not particularly fond of the people on those teams.

Every time the Rangers scored, I laughed. And Doughboy needed some cupcakes to ease that painful look. The guys on OTF said BB's job wouldn't be in jeopardy b/c he's coached a team to the calder cup, but let's be real. If I had his roster, I could probably do the same. I honestly don't think BB is a good coach. He lets that team do whatever they want. He doesn't change their game plan in the playoffs, defense is like non-existant to him. I do find it funny how everyone was claiming that Hannan was going to be their savior in defense, and they have yet to win a game since the trade.

It'll be interesting to see how much more they slide. I think this is a huge test on BB to see what kind of coach he really is.

Let the Winter Classic publicity machine get going........ Crosby, Ovechkin & Jeremy Roenick to appear on "Price is Right" (http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=546296&cmpid=nhl-rxl-twt)

The showcase sounds awesome. I guess I'll give the NHL PR peeps credit for doing something a little different.

Brian Rolston was placed on waivers yesterday by NJ. Noone claimed him. Article on NHL.com states that he is expected to be in the lineup tonight.

Explain something to me, how is he expected to be in the lineup tonight if he's cleared waivers and hasn't gone thru re-entry?

StormChaserBH
12-15-2010, 01:49 PM
clearing waivers doesn't mean that rolston was sent down to the minors, just that he CAN be. Re-entry waivers would only apply if he was sent down and called up.

I don't get putting Roloston on waivers. Since he's over 35, even if they were to assign him to the AHL, his cap hit stays with Jersey. So they weren't going to save any money. And I seriously hope Lou isn't that senile to think a team would claim him at full salary.

SoCalcaniac
12-15-2010, 02:58 PM
I heard the Rolston on waivers thing was more of "message" from Lou to the team, than anything. In other words, get your act together. Not that I think it's gonna work, but I guess he's gotta try.

This is exactly the same dilemma we would have had if we did the same thing to Rod last season. The over 35 thing breaks any cap relief you'd get.

Love those stories. I remember when vancouver (?) did it right before they played us and then the starting goalie actually got hit or something and was down for awhile. I remember Mo talking about how he thought it HAD to be a prank because he knew the back up was shatting his pants.

This isn't really game news- just saw a few tweets on it from the Denver Post beat writer Adrian Dater- Pierre Turgeon's 19 yr old daughter Elisabeth, was killed in an auto accident last night. :( It's never a "good" time to hear this, but my gosh, just terrible news just days before Christmas. Thoughts and prayers to the family.

This isn't a rhetorical question because I just don't keep up like I used to, but hasn't Vinny been injured much of the last few years (or coming off surgery to injury)?

SoCalcaniac

E, yep- MAJOR injuries- including just recently coming back from hand surgery (broke his hand) and 2 different shoulder surgeries in the last 2 seasons. It's completely set him back, which is too bad. Add to that the circus atmosphere with the former owners/cowboys and the emergence of Stamkos,it's like he's just another dude. Definitely not what he was imagining for himself, I'd guess.

TOOTOO ENTERS NHL'S SUBSTANCE ABUSE-BEHAVIOURAL HEALTH PROGRAM

NASHVILLE -- Nashville Predators forward Jordin Tootoo (http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/?name=jordin+tootoo) voluntarily has entered into in-patient care through the NHL-NHLPA substance abuse and behavioural health program.

The league announced Tootoo's move Monday afternoon in a release. Tootoo's care will be monitored by doctors from both the NHL and the NHLPA.

Tootoo will be paid his full salary. The NHL says in a statement he will face no penalty as long as he complies with his treatment and the followup care program.

He has 10 points through 32 games and a team-high 47 penalty minutes.

"We offer Jordin the full support of his teammates, coaches and the organization," Predators general manager David Poile said in a statement. "There is no timetable for his return, and we will have no further comment at this time."

^Good on him for doing it.

And appears the snow upstate has caused some problems for the Maple Leafs and two Devils as they headed back to hotel/home after the game last night:

Not even professional hockey players could beat the frozen conditions. The Toronto Maple Leafs, after defeating the New Jersey Devils 4-1 in Newark, N.J., got stuck in traffic for four hours on their way to the team hotel. It was supposed to be a 20-minute ride. Center Tyler Bozak tweeted in one middle-of-the-night dispatch: "Roads closed in new jersey stuck on the bussss. Brutaallll!!"

Patrik Elias and Travis Zajac spent night stuck on Route 280 in Elias' car. They didn't get home until 7:30am after leaving Rock at 10:40.

Zajac and Elias slept and listened to the radio. They had 1 bag of peanuts
