I got a ping from a friend on this game- which hubby & I will be attending.

This is the splash page on their website and I'm just laughing a little harder. This will be on TV again (TWC 519 for us in the Triangle)

Friday night in Charlotte is Red Neck Night (http://www.gocheckers.com/)at the TWC Arena.:crazy:

PROMOTION: The first 3,000 fans through the door will receive an official Checkers trucker hat, courtesy of Accent Marketing.

In addition to the trucker hats, there will be redneck-style in-game entertainment and scoreboard videos.

The game will be televised LIVE throughout the Carolinas on Time Warner Digital Cable channel 520 (519 in Raleigh).

I'm personally dying to kknow what the "redneck style in game entertainment" will be.

And I LOVE that I'll get to see it here in my FNLR!

We toyed with the idea of heading to CLT for this one and spending the night, but swinging the time off need to get there in time might not be doable. But I'll see it one way or another!

And Commie will be there right???

Oh man! too bad you can't be there; would be fun to see you take it all in. We'll be at the Aloft again - witht he Canes in PIT we figured a more leisurely weekend getaway. Will be fun.

Yep Commie will be there--- The Checkers sent a tweet out to "Caniacs" to see if anyone would be in CLT wearing robes for this one.

The whole Commodore robe thing seems so long ago.....

THe Checkers do some really fun in game stuff, I'm sure they'll let their imaginations run wild with the whole red neck thing.

Good to have a hockey game on TV tonight while I'm pampering myself :D

You'll understand why i choose not to get too excited about a televised game this time around. Hey, anyone in Raleigh, when you look on the TWC guide page, does it make any note whatsoever of this game being on? I know 519 & 520 are 'special events' channels that don't come active unless something's happening, but neither ever became active for me last week and i figured i'd see about getting a head-start on my sulking this time around.

:D

It just magically appeared last week for me. If it hadn't I might have called TWC. Have you tried to call and see if it will be available to you? If I'm understanding, you aren't in Raleigh but are a TWC subscriber?

Yeah, i'm TWC in Greensboro. You're right - worth the phone call!

The Falcons' blog says Commodore is "using some practice time" to get into game shape before being inserted into the lineup, as he hasn't played much in the last month. So he won't be on the ice tonight, but I'll keep an eye out for him in the stands this time.

On our way back from CLT after attending Redneck Night, staying at Aloft (groovy place) and a stop at IKEA.

Great fun at the game (Socal spotted Commie). Very frenetic game atomsphere...1 strobe light short of siezure inducing! but fun!

Fun & 'interesting' night at the Cable Box- including our neighor (Checkers Full STHer) wearing a set of gapped/buck teeth for Red Neck Nite. E, I told you last night I was the exact same way when we attended that first game in that bldg- definitely sensory overload until you get used to it.

Snapped a pic of Commodore on my phone- I zoomed in as tight as I could, but not sure that it's worth posting. He did seem to enjoy the Checkmates though and didn't appear to be sulking at all- I didn't expect him to, but you never know. I did look over once and noticed he was posing for pics. good for him.

staying at Aloft (groovy place)

Isn't it the coolest? Hope you enjoyed that spa shower in the room- I am a big fan of Bliss spa products - totally addicted to that shower gel, lol. This stay last night, we were on the 15th floor which was really cool.

I should get free nights or something for my continued yammering about The Aloft.... love that place- and the EpiCentre for that matter. We had "planned" to head home this AM and ended up at Discovery Place and then over in University area for some great Asian fusion food at one of my fave restaurants. Next thing you know, it's afternoon, lol.

All you folks with vouchers to burn, get to Charlotte!

Which one is that?

Ok, finally in front of computer (as opposed to BB) after the trip to CLT/IKEA and a final night sans kids, followed by IKEA assembly.

SoCal - we ended up on the 15th floor as well....at 3am! We had some very loud, very profane, very awake neighbors arrive around 2am and after it continued until 3am and it was obvious it involved multiple rooms and about 10 people, we skipped calling the front desk (knowing that was going to be a) a temporary solution and b) obvious it was us based on where we were on the hall) and just got our stuff, went down to the front desk, and asked to be moved. They were super nice, moved us to the 15th floor (1505?) and took $10 off our bill.

Anyway - I know SoCal has talked glowingly about the Aloft hotel, but seriously - very fun, funky place RIGHT across from the Arena. If you have AAA, it's cheaper than the Checkers discount (and I think SoCal said the Govt discount is even cheaper).

As mentioned the game was a bit frenetic, but all in good fun (Limeboy and the Fist Pump ). Funniest thing was when we returned to our seats for the 3rd, I smelled cigarette smoke and thought it was the guys in our row also returning, thinking they had been outside smoking. So I said to Mr ncc "wow, I smell smoke" and he said "well t he people across the aisle are smoking". WTF! Two "kids" (I guess old enough to drink) were sitting there trying to slyly smoke cigarettes! I've have seen it all. I started to up to get an usher, but there wasn't one at the top of our section so I just told the chick to "put that out". She played dumb for a bit (can you imagine?) but eventually they put them out and then the guy "dozed off" (passed out?) for portions of the 3rd. Hysterical!

We saw 2 sets of Canes fans in the lobby when we left, so we weren't the only folks making it a weekend SoCal.

Thought of one other thing to mention (while sharing 2 photos). I definitely recommend NOT sitting behind the goal (you can only sit behind one). The slope of the LL is way too gradual and from our seats in Row J, you could not even see the bottom of the goal, making it impossible to see if the puck actually went in. We supposedly got the last 2 seats together in the LL, so that's where we ended up. Wouldn't do it again.

This is the view from Aloft's 15 floor - you can see how close the Arena is. The area between is part of the Epicentre and you cut right thru it to get to the arena.

And my shot of Commie from the opposite end of the arena thru the glass on my end and the nets on his, thus the 'quality'. He was laughing his ass off when Testito was escorted off after his fight and 10 minute misconduct.
