This might be a little cheesey, but there's not much conversation today, so I thought I would try to stir something up. So, who do yall think will be the 5 top goal scorers this season? :D

Illya Kovalchuck will be big this year
Glen Murray will do great
Sergei Federov shoudl return to form too
I think Jeff O'Neil will have his career year, mark my words

Sorreeee, should have been more specific...I meant the Canes, but the leagues cool too....make it more interesting...
Mine are:
1. O
2. Cole
3. Brindy
4. Francis
5. Vrbata
Just my 2 cents, prob. not even close, just trying to be fun... :D
And Mona, I agree about Heatley, I expect him to have a blowout season!

My top five scorers for the Canes are...
3. Ronnie - I expect him to do more assisting than scoring, but he can score a few goals. Regardless of how he gets the points, here's to the Franchise getting his 23rd fifty point season and taking the numero uno spot from Mr. Hockey.
Tied at 2. Brindy and Cole - I'm seriously having a hard time deciding if I should have Cole or Vrbata tied with Brindy. Before he went out last season with his wrist/hand injury, Brindy was in the top three or five goal scorers...a position I don't think he ever gave up. Same going for Cole when he went out with a broken leg. Just like the rest of the Canes, I expect these two to truly rock in the goal scoring department, especially if they're paired up on the second line again. Just think, if Brendl, Bayda, or even Boulerice cook at training camp...wouldn't it be cool to see a BBC Version 2.0? :)
Tied at 1. Vrbata and O - This one is actually not as tricky to determine as Brindy versus Cole...I think Vrbata has potential for being the sleeper number one goal scorer, but that's depending upon which line he joins. Vrbata probably couldn't go wrong with either of the two top lines. Brindy and Cole are excellent grinders who along with the now great defense will open up plenty of opportunities for Vrbata to do his stuff. And with this being quite possibly the final season of the Francis/O'Neill (Or as I like to call them, the Dynamic Duo) line, I expect Ronnie and his eager young space cadet to be giving it their all, with O capitalizing on almost every assist being dished out to him. Vrbata could do some capitalizing himself...I expect it to be a veeeery close race between Radim and Jeff for the numero uno spot.

Sergei Federov shoudl return to form too
What form? He has been one of the most consistent 30 goal scorers the whole time he's been in the NHL, 13 seasons is it? He's numbers last year despite all the off ice troubles were just as good as ever for him...
Anyways on topic:
5. Francis
4. Vrbata
3. Cole
2. Brind'Amour
1. O'Neil

1. O'Neill
2. Vrbata
3. Brindy
4. Cole
5. Bayda
Francis will get his fair share of assists and goals...but as he starts to take a smaller role, he will no longer be able to be a team-leader in points.
I look for a huge year from Vrbata this year. He very well could top O in goals...but O will have more points.

I think to utilize our 2 good snipers we need to put them on seperate lines, with a little muscle on the respective lines.
I think :
Cole-Brindy-O'Neil first line definitley puts the strength and grit with scoring touches in cole and brindy to help keep the bodies out of the way and off O'Neil. Also this is probaly the post francis first line so I'd like to see them start as first liners now to see how it goes while ron is still here.
Vasicek(or somone else physical)-Francis-Vrbata 2nd line. Again Vasicek (if he can play wing and some of the rumors are true about him playing wing) should really pick up his physical play. Francis who's no pushover out on the ice and Vrbata who a stiff breeze could probaly blow over lol. Combines good strength and grit, while offering up 3 good potential scorers. Vrbata will need to be paired with some physical forces on the ice because he doesn't have the size and strength to physically open the ice. He has good speed, hands and passing and awesome accuracy also would probaly better utilize/needs the better passing and hands of Ron than O'Neil does. I'll also say that I think Vrbata has a better, more accurate shot than O'Neil....
