I thought that Liles would end up here given JR's long term fascination with Liles and the reports we were trading for a power play quarterback. I don't know if the Canes were ever in the mix, but given his limited trade clause, he'd have to have had the Canes on his list...

I am so bummed out over this. I want to see JML in a Canes uniform sometime in my lifetime. I heard this in the car this afternoon and I almost drove off the road (TM Socal). Couldn't we give up a second round pick? Heck, why not a first round? Joni? Stormy? Naming rights to the RBC Center?

Liles did have a partial NTC, so if we were interested he might not have wanted to come here.

I think the Liles ship has sailed for us. JR has been rumored to be interested for years, he probably gave up trying to get him.

I like Liles, but he is no different than Pitkanen, it would have been a lateral move at best. His play in his own end has alot to be desired IMHO.

I like Liles, but he is no different than Pitkanen, it would have been a lateral move at best. His play in his own end has alot to be desired IMHO.

Agree, I think his ship has sailed. We need a solid defender. Not a pretty name on the back of a sweater.

This is all I can ever think when people talk about JML coming here. He'd be nothing but the latest whipping boy on D. Not on this site particularly, but elsewhere.

I hope Ryan has a thick hide...

Not all of our defensemen end up being whipping boys. Mainly the ones that are like the one in this video (good morning Joni).
