well, maybe irbe really did play that bad...
guess the thought of weeksey sitting out the rest of the season and letting irbe try to prove himself one more time is out?
from ch.com:
"Goalie Kevin Weekes, who postponed season-ending surgery on his left hand to finish out the season, will be in goal for Carolina. His opponent between the pipes will be Ed Belfour, who is three wins shy of joining Patrick Roy, Jacques Plante, Tony Esposito, Glenn Hall and Grant Fuhr are the only goalies in history with at least 400 wins."

Somebody somewhere, maybe John, maybe Chuck said Weekes would play the home games and Irbe on the road I guess.
JR said today on 850 that if Weekes decided it was too painful, or if he wanted to change his mind and have the surgery, he would tell them and they would work something out with the other goalies in the system.
He also said Cam Ward was not a possibility this year because he doesn't have a contract with the Canes yet. Also, the team he is on is doing VERY well and they need him.
Sounded like if we get the #1 pick, JR would be very tempted to take the available goalie. He said this boy was very highly rated and a potential franchise goalie with the potential to play backup at the NHL level next season. I know we need defense, but if we have a chance at a potential Brodeur, then I'm all for it.
