Could not find a 2011-2012 Ex-Canes thread.

Great article on Matt Cullen getting to 1,000 game.

http://www.startribune.com/sports/wild/136983133.html

My favorite part:

"He believed in me," Cullen said of Laviolette. "He expected a lot out of me. I can still hear him saying this: 'Cully, be dynamic.' I'd never heard anything like that before. I loved every day playing there."

The idea of a guy never having a coach tell him to be dynamic is telling. Its a reminder of why Lavi is great and why Mo had to go.

I also think that Muller seems like someone who will say the same thing.

Congrats to Matt (he had a great night last night too)...

Maurice did, however, tell Ozo to 'go nuts'.

Thanks for posting- I saw the tweets on it being his 1000th yesterday and was sorta tracking the game last night when Puck_it informed me that he scored a goal and SO goal; Loved the piece in the Trib- and Convert, your favorite is my favorite :

"He believed in me," Cullen said of Laviolette. "He expected a lot out of me. I can still hear him saying this: 'Cully, be dynamic.' I'd never heard anything like that before. I loved every day playing there." I could just hear Peter saying "be dynamic". I can hear his voice. I can't count how many playoff game day skates where you'd see Laviolette stalking his guys and skating along side them and he'd have their ear. If he wasn't skating with them, he was face to face, and I can remember thinking what on earth is he saying to Cullen, cause it always seemed to me, he had Cullen's ear the best. They had some kind of relationship for sure.

Cullen's story is a good one. There were moments where he could have seen the sun set on him, which I can't believe teams didn't see what everyone knows. But he truly perservered. One of my ultimate fave Canes for life. I still laugh when I see him any Wild game, cause the first thing I think about is his finicky thing about his skates, sticks, equipment. So happy for him.

If there was ever any doubt about the impact a great coach can have on a player's career, that answers it.

Without Lavi, its not unrealistic to see Cullen having a journeyman career, like his brothers, and being out of the league right now.

Yep, you could see Lavi doing it on 24/7 as well..."be great." I love that we can see that in Muller.

Cullen is one of my all-time favorite players and always will be. And dynamic is certainly what he was here. I wish he were still with us but, I've been very happy to see him doing well for his "home town" team, too.
