That is a really really long story. Since I"ve only existed on the fringes of it until today, I'll let those who know more than I answer that little question.

She hasn't posted anything for the past 30 minutes and someone named "Storm Central" just did a "test" at 4:02. Wonder who that could be.. :beatup:

I complained too- about the vulgarity, about the untruths, about the hijacking - all of it. It is embarrassing that the official board allows that mess.

The boards are shut down until I can figure out how to deal with the situation. I know who the poster in question is, but she has ignored my emails. I know her IP block, but she is on local Road Runner, meaning that if I block her, I block everyone from the Metro Raleigh area using Road Runner. I don't have a whole lot more clout when dealing with her.

The only thing I can do is shut down the boards and hope she doesn't come back. I understand your pain and appreciate your email.

The mods are always watching ;) It takes me way less time to delete a post than it does for someone to post it, This board has much more sophisticated software which makes banning easier.

She's already a lurker here so posting about this board wasn;t new news. I think what set her off THIS time was that someone stated her post was idiotic or something of that nature. It wasn't SHC and it wasn't me.

She truly is insane.

Thanks to anyone who tried to contact him. Play made a mess of things and ran everyone off but if you all think about it this way, let's not let it get to us and let the mod do the necessary fixes. If we try to not let it bother us and just enjoy LGC then in the end, Play is the only one making herself miserable.

One day, ch.com will change and people like her won't be allowed to post junk like that. Glad they couldn't get away with it on our LGC!

I'm not going to disagree and I'm not defending anyone, but do we need two threads about the same thing, that has nothing to do with this board? I'm very familiar with the whole saga, but devoting some many pixels to this in the setting in which it did not occur will just cause more issues further down the road.

I've talked with Kevin about that place before. I've offered to setup a REAL board there, and show him how to admin it. Never got much of a response.

It makes me absolutely sick to my stomach that those boards are the "official" boards. Imagine being a new canes fan, and wandering in there. don't think I'd stay. what a disgrace.

Guy -maybe it's time to -re-offer your help to Kevin. They seem perplexed on just how to solve their problems.

As a new comer, it's an easy board to get to, so I hate to see it shut down and having these problems. It's the same intent as creating a computer virus I suppose.

It is such a shame one person with so much misplaced anger can cause my beloved Canes to be without an official message board. without a doubt, the gal is a sick puppy. it seems that the most innocent of things get misconstrued, resulting in a knee jerk reaction-- harsh, attacking responses or playing the victim. would someone really enlighten us newbies on this situation-- her behavior and reactions certainly have violated a lot of people, not just those posting on this thread... i really have tried to ignore her posts, but damn, some have been out right offensive and other times, too easy not to bait her. i would really like the history of this WAR so as to understand why i am being vicitmized-- the board is shut down, good posters avoid the site and hell, it's the easiest board to use.

WAR is exactly what started it. A looong time ago, she made a very rude comment about the war that happened to hurt the feelings of a wonderful lady who is close friends with many on the message board. make a long story short, she kept aggravating the situation, even if it meant hurting someone else. Anywho, ever since then, she is convinced that certain people are only there to aggravate her when they're just there to have good debates with people. Don't take it too personally. She has managed to hurt many a person's feelings in the past. However, she has her good moments and hopefully she'll stop posting such things and keep her discussions hockey related.

Would CH.com be allowed to use phpBB for a commercial venture? I know the board software they use now is sponsored by Sony Ericsson...but if I recall correctly their contract is up soon...unless they've re-upped. They'd probably want any new forum software to be sponsored by someone, and I don't know if phpBB would allow that.
Perhaps the reason that KC isn't responding to your offers to set up a php board because he can't....
...but maybe he just doesn't want outside help. But to run an effective and trouble-free board, you have to have outside moderation...much like we have here. If we were able to have mods like Caniac, Goldwolf, noMo big red, crazy4canes, guyute, Shell, and rio, the CH.com boards would be fine.
We all know if anyone tried their same crap here as they did over at the official site, they'd be promptly banned.

From what I know, KC is willing to accept help from outside sources. However, those boards are the least important thing to him, I think, and it is easier for him to just shut it down for now. Other non-Canes-employed folks have been mods over there at times, but it is very hard to be a mod without the power to ban and with so many trolls.
