Now that I'm moving closer to Greensboro, I've toyed with the idea of getting season tickets over there ($399 for a front row seat).
The only down side would be that I'd miss alot of the NHL (and especially Canes) games.

I get out to several Generals games a year!
The best hockey game I've ever seen in person was last years pack the house night. 11,000 people and the game ended 5-4 Generals in overtime!
Unless you want to sit right on the glass you can get good seats for much less.
I reccomend section 109 approx 8 rows up. I think those seats were $230 last year. You'll be right behind the players benches. Greensboro the way they setup their hockey rinks the seats don't go down along all the way to the floor agains the boards. Sort of tricky to explain actually. If you set right up against the glass most people could probaly stand up and stretch their heads over the top of the glass. I've seen many people do that to yell at refs and opposing players!

You just have to like those prices vs how much those seats cost for an NHL game!

I agree! Great hockey in Greensboro. I work in Greensboro and live near High Rock Lake, but it is worth the trip to both Raleigh and again back to Greensboro when I am not able to make the Canes games or they are on the road and not televised. Radios work wonders. LOL
Give the Generals a try and Welcome to the area.

I worked in the orginization last year, and yes, hockey-wise, the generals are a great team. Coach Addunno is a very good coach, and the team plays an exciting to watch type of game.

Board of Governors Terminates
Greensboro Generals Membership
July 20, 2004
PRINCETON, N.J. – The ECHL announced on Tuesday that the Board of Governors has voted to terminate the membership of the Greensboro Generals, effective immediately.
All Greensboro players, who have either received a qualifying offer or have executed a standard player contract, will immediately become unrestricted free agents.
The termination of the membership comes as a result of the Generals being unable to put a suitable ownership group in place to operate the membership in 2004-05.
“The ECHL would like to thank the fans of the Generals for their support over the past five seasons. The ECHL would also like to thank the City of Greensboro for its operation of the Generals in 2003-04 and the Greensboro Coliseum for its support of the ECHL for so many seasons,” said ECHL Commissioner Brian McKenna. “We look forward to returning in the future with a strong ownership group to provide the fans of Greensboro with ECHL hockey.”
The ECHL has already begun work on a revised playing schedule for 2004-05 with plans to release it no later than July 30.
No further comment will be made at this time by McKenna, the ECHL or its member teams.

Yeah, that was going to be our backup plan, too. Guess we'll have to trek to Fayetteville to see the FireAntz.
I heard a rumor that the Rangers were looking to buy the Generals. Guess that's not happening now.

Yeah this really sucks. Greensboro is withouth hockey! I think this makes Greensboro the largest arena without a sports team in the country.
Really gonna miss the generals. Never will forget Bret Michaels (from poison) coming out to do the encore in a generals jersey at the coliseum.
I've had alot of fun (for practically nothing money wise) at generals games, then always off for sushi at wasabi's after.
Guess I'll just take up drinking to pass the time

Why, it's Crown Coliseum! Def Leppard played there last summer so it must be huge. ;)
I have no clue how big it is....sorry.
I went to college with the owner of the General's daughter (at that time he was the owner, anyway). I haven't seen her in about 5 years but at that time I got the impression he was very happy with the team. I hate to see this happen.

Geez, check out the Fire Antz season ticket prices:
Club/Ice Level (section 117-119) $390
Center Ice Premier (section 104-106) $350
Lower Level $330
Upper Level $270
Seriously, Fayetteville isn't quite as far from me as Raleigh is. Maybe this is an option if they don't get this crap settled.
