I made the road trip to Atlanta and back for game 5 last night. Aside from (a) there being no alcohol sale in Georgia on Sundays and (b) having to work this morning after getting home at 5 AM it was awesome. I had such a great time, and not the least of it was seeing the Cubs win their first post-season series since 1908!

Come on Prior,

Boooo! The Braves could have won it this year!
But aside from the Braves, Chicaahgo is my favorite franchise. I have a feeling that this could be their year, with Kerry Wood playing like he did. He's unstoppable. Go Cubbies!

Yea Cubbies!!! Yea the Braves could have won it this year, and last year, and the year before that etc. The problem is that they didn't, because other than the A's (0-9 in series clinchers) they are the biggest choke artists in baseball.!!!!! Once again, Yea Cubbies!!!!

I like the Marlins too...since they haven't been a dominating team either..but Sammy is a good guy so I won't mind either of these teams winning.. :spin:

Wow. What on God's green earth went on last night? That was ridiculous. I think that the Marlins will win now, that's GOTTA be a HUGE momentum booster. We'll see who wins game 7. To be up 3-1 and blow it, especially after all this time, that would, unfortunately, be about par for the course for the Cubs.

IMHO the idea that the foul ball guffaw cost the Cubs the game is garbage. The fan didn’t boot an inning ending double play , the fan didn’t give up a three run double, the fan didn’t break a rule, he merely reached out for a foul ball. The gutless fans and players that are accusing that dude of anything are delusional and not holding the true culprits of the collapse, the players, accountable. Garbage :)

No, but he changed the mood of the entire game. Stuff like that gets in their heads, and causes plays like the error on Rodriguez...

Things like that happen, and you have to battle through.

Hopefully the Cubs can clinch it tonight. GO CUBBIES!

7-5 Fish in the 7th....
I had thought this to be the Cubs' year to go to the big series...why break a 100 year drought just to get beaten out in the NLDS? I still hold hope that Sammy & the boys can pull through...

Root, root root for the Cuuuuubies, if they don't win it's a shame....

I don't doubt that it got into their heads, but IMO if you can't work through it and you lose the series, then look in the mirror for the answer. Don't look at some fan who touched a foul ball. He didn't score a run and he didn't pitch like a little league player in the bigs. He touched a ball in the stands.

I wanted the Cubs to win, but this whining is killing me.

Go Red Sox.

Well.....I've got a name for this year's world series: THE SERIES THAT COULD HAVE BEEN. We had the possibility of a Red Sox/Cubs series that would have captivated the nation and end up with a Yankees/Marlins series. I won't be watching.

end up with a Yankees/Marlins series. I won't be watching.

That makes two of us. These are two teams that nobody outside of Miami or New York wanted to see in the World Series. They kind of killed the drama already....

Count me in on that, too. Bosox/Cubs would have made for wonderful viewing. Most of America will obviously root for the Fish, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Baseball really blew it by not implementing a salary cap. I know, I know, I've heard all the "you can't buy chemistry" and "other teams spend money, too" lame excuses. But you can't cover up the fact that there's only one team that can afford to keep spending so much AFTER they already made some bad deals. No one else can. And now MLB expects us to get sick losing sleep watching this crap. Forget it! The boycott is on. It's a crying shame for young kids to not be able to watch a World Series, but any Series with the Yankees in it ain't worth the time anyway.

Let's Go 'Canes!!!

I'm not watching either. I just hate the Yankees and Clemens is the worst. Thank goodness for Center Ice :D

Exactly. They got the exact opposite of what the nation wanted to see. Yankees/Marlins? Who Cares?

viewership for the CS games was around 70%. that is Unbelievable.

they'll be lucky to get Half that for the WS. I probably won't watch much of it. Not like I did the CS.

As far as I'm concerned, beisbol season is now over and I can now get back to devoting my full attentions to hockey.

I'll watch the WS. The Marlins are my favorite baseball team. The only problem is, I am not a active baseball fan. I did watch the playoffs to see the Marlins, but other then that I read ESPN.com or CNNSI.com.
