Hi Guys. I don't post here that often, but I read the board every day. I've been thinking a lot about how people feel the need to DO something for our troops and I just wanted to pass this along. My sister's husband, a marine reservist, deployed for Kuwait 2 months ago. They have 3 children. She was telling me how overwhelmed she was, unable to sleep with worry for him, unable to sleep because their 3 yr old wakes up crying every night for her Daddy. She then mentioned how she had gotten a letter from her homeowners association because her grass had gotten too tall in these past couple of weeks of warm weather. She broke down, and said by the time she got home from work, exhuasted from not sleeping, she just hadn't been able to face trying to figure out how to get gas in a lawnmower, start it , and mow the lawn. it sounds so trivial, but it is just another thing she is trying to get used to doing on her own. She said so many of her neighbors keep asking if there is anything they can do to help while he's gone, but she says she would never feel right asking them to do something as time consuming as mowing her lawn. My longwinded point is this: if you feel the need to do something, maybe there is a family near you who is missing its husband, father or son. Maybe doing something nice for that family, unasked, could help their soldier, in a round about way. Just a thought:)

Very Nice SC. Good point. We should all do everything we can, even if it seems small, it may mean the world to someone in that situtation.

beautiful post SouthernCaniac and I couldn't agree more.
I would like to help someone effected, but I don't know who needs help. If someone knows of a way I can make a positive impact on a soldier's family life, than please let me know.
