LETS GO CANES
11-02-2003, 08:05 PM
I just wanyed to let everyone know I am representing Canes Fans wonderfully in my Yahoo Public League (26494). First place in my league by 9 points and am winning 9-0 this week. Playing as LETS GO CANES and beating up on Canucks, Devils, Avalanche, Red Wings, and Leafs fans, just to name a few. How are you guys/gals doing in your public leagues?

I have no offense, which shocks me. I have a lot of the slow starters like Sakic on my team. Also have Jeff O and Vasicek. It's gonna be a long year, just like it is going to be watching the Canes....

I'm middle of the pack in Yahoo Winners 10927... been bouncing back and forth between 6th and 7th the last week or 2. For some reason i thought i'd be doing much better in net, what with Brodeur, Hasek, and Weekes. For some stupid reason my team is called 'ching wong ping'.

In my HLS2 sim league, i'm in first and hoping to defend my regular season/post-season titles.

most of my teams are slow-starting too. big names that haven't done much yet hurts.

My best non-LGC league is 4th place in a points-based league with 82 game max's per spot. I like the strategy of that setup.

Talk about starting slow - my Yahoo league goalies are Weekes (2-4-3), Giguere (1-6-0), and Luongo (2-5-2). Needless to say I am last in wins. I have been in the top half of my 8-manager league for most of the year so far, but I have played more games than anyone else

I'm in 4 leagues

Private points league 15th of 20 (but on the rise):
Brodeur, Esche, Roenick, Vasicek, O'Neil, Bergeron, Mellanby, Markov, Zidlicky, Cole, Friesen are my main players among a few others.

Private Rotisserie league: 13 of 18 and on the rise (82 game maximum)
Walz, Vasicek, Modano, Gratton, Whitney, Cole, Shelley, Burnett, Palffy Vrbata, Mellanby, Hamrlik, Markov, Zidlicky, Cullimore, amond many other lesser guys, and Weekes as a goalie.

Privat H2H league 5 of 10 (I was second in this league but 2 weekes of ties thanks to not getting any ties, short handed goals, or GWG's, I think this may be my best team):
Modano, Vasicek, Naslund, Cole, Palffy, O'Neil, Mellanby, Rafalski, Simpson, Chara, Markov, Burnett, Brind'Amour, Ruchin, Johnson, Weekes, Nurminen, Esche.

Private Rotisserie League 3 of 13. Auto draft, 82 game maximum, I don't think nobody understands this, because I'm 3rd with only 119 games played the lowest by about 20 in the top 5.
Elias, Land, Naslund, Samsonov, Cole, Drury, Mellanby, Palffy, Chara, Hamlik, Boynton, S Kozlov, Numinen, Johnson, and Cloutier, Burk for goalies.

SO i've been hurt by slow stars from a few people, like Modano, Naslund, O'Neil, Mellanby, just to name a few. Now this who Palffy legal matter isn't helping either.

Glad I had big joe for the hat trick, that really got 2 of my leagues jump started. He seems to have inspired me teams and they've all be coming to gether as of late and getting points. I may have to stich an A on his jersey

I have made many MANY changes in my 1st 2 leagues listed. One good thing I did was pick up the bash brothers from mighty ducks (wait a minute no play off the movie intended in that), Todd Simpson and Garret Burnett. Anaheim so far has seemed to be on a different schedule than the rest of the league, because they are almost always playing when none of my other gusy are or atleast when I have enough empty spaces to play them. If they play they are good for atleast 1 fight each per game. So its not like I have to worry about benching a scorer for penalty minutes. They may be guys some of you want to look into for penalty minutes.

Picked up some good rookies, in Bergeron, Ryder and a couple others also.

This is the first time I've ever been in any kind of fantasy leagues, and its alot more fun than I thought. The first 3 leagues are from another message board I frequent (http://offthepost.net if your currious, come on over we always need more caniacs) so that adds another element of bragging rights :D

Luckily I have a solid Defense: Pronger, Lidstrom, Boucher, Ozolinsh, and Leetch.

Offense: Perreault, Sakic, Kvasha, Varada, Palffy, St. Louis, Samsonov, and Amonte.

Palffy and the D have carried me.

GOAL: Raycroft, Hackett, Esche, and Brodeur.

Seems like I change fowards every day with the exceptions of Sakic, Palffy, St. Louis, and Samsonov.

well, 3 of my 4 are LGC leagues..

In the HTH1 league from last year I am a dismal 12 of 12.. in the other 2 LGC's I am 4 of 8, 4 of 10, and then in the non-LGC league I am 5 of 11.

All I know is I am head to head with my hubby in HTH1 this week so it's time for me to come back with a smackdown ;)

I laid an egg in fantasy hockey this season in an ESPN league. No live draft, and I get killed that way every time...I hate list drafts. Been uphill since, and I'm massively in last place.

Next year, it's live draft for me.

This just in, having Jeff O'Neill on your fantasy team has not been a good thing so far. ;)

The list also drafted players for me like Theo Fleury, Jason Allison, Michael Nylander, Pavel Bure, and Curtis Joseph. (I put them all toward the bottom of my list and still got 'em)

I've improved since my last post.. now I am 10 of 12, 3 of 8, 3 of 10, and 5 of 11.

and I don't mind O so much, he at least gets me FW and SOG.. 15 assists, 7 on the PP. Not bad for a winger on a line with Ronnie to have won 146 faceoffs already! He's been better for me than Modano or Gaborik for sure.

I drafted both Francis and O'Neill during my Yahoo Winners League live draft. Let them both go, though. Face-offs and shots get me nothing in that league, so they weren't doing diddly for me. Might be time to look into picking one of them up again, though - they're both still available.

I live drafted Weekes as well. And Brodeur. And Hasek. Needless to say i dominate in the goaltending categories. Thanks to Erik Cole, Chris Simon, and the occassional Yzerman temper tantrum, i also dominate in penalty minutes by over 100 minutes.

Everywhere else, however, i suck. Despite having Lemieux, Bonk, St. Louis. Despite having Gaborik and Anson Carter for a while there, too, before giving up on them.

I've never done a live draft because the logistics seem so hard.. does it really work well? Do most people get on during whatever time is nominated? Has Yahoo crashed in the middle? I would prefer live but it seems so much harder

I've always done the live draft in the public leagues. So far everyone's shown up and all went well. No crashes, however one season there was a snag and the live draft didn't run as planned. But it was just rescheduled and the second time through it went without a snag.

But with the public leagues, you have gazillions of people playing, so it's pretty easy to find 12 people who can all make it at the same time. With a private league, though, you'd have to find a time where everyone could make it at the same time, which might be tough.

Updating my Public League standings. I am dominating still. In first place with 167 points. Second place team has 131. Got all the way up in the Top 50 overall at one point. Cool to see LETS GO CANES on the Top 50 Leaderboard. Unfortunately I have since dropped to 147 overall. I guess when you think about the thousands upon thousands that are playing 147 isn't too shabby.

Definitely a great night for me in my non Canes league!! (I'm "Go Canes!")

http://www.tridead.net/images/Proggers.gif

5 goals, 12 assists, +10
Sheldon Souray is a defenseman and had a goal and 5 assists tonight  Glad I didn't bench him (I sometimes do because penalty minutes count against you in that league)

I have been in second place since week two of my other Yahoo league (that is other than the lgc.com rotesserie league)..........

1. The Johnstons 84-42-14 .650 pct 182 pts

2. St. Thomas Bombers 67-60-13 .525 pct 147 pts

3. OBs Blitz 62-66-12 .486 pct 136 pts

4. PHILLY PUCKER 57-65-18 .471 pct 132 pts

5. Bruin Boy 54-72-14 .436 pct 122 pts

6. Bechard Boys 53-72-15 .432 pct 121 pts

Evidently, my best friend is in first, and my brother is running his team with my 2 nephews, and the 3 of them have the last place team (hahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahaahahaha).

2 leagues - Sandlot with my regular fantasy buds and a Jeff Burton message board group.

Sandlot Hockey
Raleigh Juggernauts
Rank: 5 of 10

Jeffs Hockey Hooligans
Raleigh Motorcats
Rank: 3 of 10

Both teams recovering from a slow start and injuries - I like my chances in the playoffs.

I'm leading with my team in Yahoo Public League 35266 - Mooks Minions.
Got a 16 point lead and should be able to wrap it up. It's actually been one of those wire to wire leads. Of course I'd like to brag, but it's merely beginners luck since I've never tried a hockey FL before, only played in baseball leagues.

I won my Public Yahoo FHL by 34 points. Bye in first round of playoffs, so I'm excited to get started after the week off.

In LETS GO CANES FHL: Won that one too, but I'm in big trouble now. Traded for Lang, and then he gets hurt. Forsberg looks like he will never come back (or at least until the real-life playoffs), and Bertuzzi lost his mind and won't play again this year (in case you've been under a rock for the past week). Needless to say, I'd feel a lot better with these guys able to play. Now, I just hope I can get out of the first round of the playoffs.
