a friend of mine just forwarded me this article.. interesting! I apparently comepletely blocked it out..

This was around April, 2000

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- Rod Brind'Amour of the Carolina Hurricanes did not sustain any brain damage from his concussion in Monday's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Hurricanes said Tuesday the 29-year-old centre underwent tests when the team returned to Raleigh. He is questionable for the next game, on Saturday against Atlanta.

Brind'Amour was removed from the ice on a stretcher after being checked into a the boards by Bob Boughner. His head was immobilized, but Brind'Amour was alert and moving his arms when taken to the locker room.

Hurricanes spokesman Chris Brown said baseline testing had not been completed. At the start of the season, players undergo several tests. If they have a concussion, the player takes the same tests, and the results are compared.

Boughner had both arms up when he pushed Brind'Amour into the boards late in the second period. He received a major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct,

Brind'Amour, acquired from Philadelphia on Jan. 23, has four goals and nine assists in 31 games for Carolina. Boughner came to the Penguins on March 13 from Nashville.

I'm sure it is no issue. Brindy probably doesn't even remember it. :-)

Wow. :eek2: As JHardman noted, it's probably not an issue. But still, pretty darn interesting...

I'm sure it's no big deal...look how Gary Roberts played against us..vicious..and then afterwards - all hugs and slaps....it's the name of the game.

Precisely...there are couple of great examples in In the Bin (A fantastic book about what it's like in the penalty box and more...highly recommended by moi.) of players that would duke it out on the ice one moment, and have a conversation in the box the next moment.

Yeah, I sort of remember one of those "friendly conversations". Remember the Tanabe / Kapenan dual penalties where they had nothing but "nice" words to say to each other?

heh, I saw the hit...and I must say, if it was me, I wouldn't remember a thing either. It was nasty...but I am pretty sure everything is all good now.

Brindy is undoubtedly quite glad that it will be others getting the tough rub from Markov and Boogie Man.
