any braves fans in the house? opening day is today (thank goodness for baseball now that hockey season is almost over). my boy maddux will get the start against the expos. IIRC, he has a pretty good record on opening day in his career... :D

I am/was the same way. Watched da Braves almost as religiously as the 'Canes (almost.) I got out of baseball last year, I guess it was. The monotony kills me, especially compared to hockey. But I'm still a big Braves fan. :spin:

The division race will be closer this year, that's for sure. Do we have the right mixture of steady pitching with good offense? This year we can't rely on pitching alone now that Glavine and Millwood are gone...

I happen to be a Cubs fan as well...my first MLB game was at Wrigley field. Saw Sammy hit one of his 66 that year. :spin:

Well...Expos win today 10-2. First opening day loss for Maddux and first time Braves have allowed 4 runs in the first inning, not to mention the first time Maddux has allowed the full cycle in one inning.

If I didn't quit watching baseball after that strike in the 90's, this would be my answer.. I used to go see them all the time. I don't like the braves just because of that damn tomahawk chop ;)

Welcome to my world!  My teams are on the brink of champinship-dom and let it fall apart. 'Canes last year, Vikings of '99 (or was it '98?), Panthers of '96, Braves every year in the 1990s except their lone WS win, Charlotte Hornets 2 years ago,. Would you like me to go on? :p

Braves are sucking it up, to put it mildly. I hope they get out of this funk they're in. Is the streak in danger? I'm starting to think so, even 4 games into the season.

Pittsburgh Pirates, baby!

Well, we were 4-0 before that 16-1 shellacking last night.

Maybe this year we can make the playoffs with Lofton, and Sanders playing the way he has so far (4 home runs so far this year.)

Tommy--have you been to PNC Park? I went two summers ago...Wow! Nice field!

Buccos will come back down to earth again. Was that last year or the year before they started strong, then lost 90 games?

Yeah that was last year we had a great start, but we only lost 90 games, as opposed to 100 two season ago. Maybe we'll go .500 this year.

And yes, PNC Park is incredible, I've been there twice.

I think .500 would be great for that team. Just irked that they would get a beautiful field while the Pens play in their old barn )-:

My uncles (4 of them) got a brick near the left field entrance (I think). I hope the Pens do that for their new rink.
