Anyone who votes no at this point should have to lunch on dirty diapers tomorrow and Sunday. ;)
I mean, come on people, it can't get worse (gasp... can it?!!?)

We could have Mike Keenan.

Good point, though I feel Keenan would never have let it get to this point, which is a nod in his favor. Mo just lets everything go: no fights, no tantrums behind the bench, not even a grimace. Out the do', Mr. Neo-Stoicism.

My vote should be obvious from the following:

Yes...Ja...Oui...Da...Si...Sim...Ano...Kyllä...Je st...Nai...Owszem...YES!
It's time for a change...obviously nothing good is happening with Mo running things. If he isn't gone in the next 5 days, I'll be very dissapointed.

I've been fairly silent on the topic. But I have to admit that these last two nights have pushed me over the edge. I voted "Yes."

I believe we need to stage an intervention for the good of NoMo's soul. This is one time you DON"T "just say no". Don't go down that evil triad goatworshipping road ... come back to the light side. I do worry...

Well if I voted no, I would say i did, but I would have been one of those for the HELL YEAH!! ;)
But for his defense, I was wanting to give him a chance and I have tried to stay positive, but there is not much positive left. IT IS TOO PAST TIME FOR CHANGE!!
I am so tired of losing with such a talented team, time for someone with some new ideas to spark this team....right now its just BLAH!!

I voted 'yes' and here's why:
Unlike in other sports, NHL coaches often get fired for seemingly no reason at all. When Larry Robinson was fired by Jersey, the team had a winning record and was all but guaranteed a playoff spot. The GM felt the team wasn't playing well enough to win the Cup, so they changed coaches. They later hired him back as an assistant coach. Sometimes, no matter how good the coach is or how much the team likes him, there comes a time when the team needs a new one. That time is now.

I voted no and I am proud to say it. Not one soul has offered a better viable alternative to Mo as of right now. We can all wish but until we have a viable alternative it pointless. I ask, who will coach until we find a replacement. K-MAC Ladoceur, Rutherford? As for eating dirty diapers if you think you are man enough to come here and make me do it, then come on, if not shut the hell up

if not shut the hell up
you get a warning for that one JD.
I've watched a lot of crap from ya lately, and haven't done much. it's getting old, and you're teetering on the precipice now.

I have to tell you that you are teetering on the edge of a line with me that you WILL NOT return from.
I'll ask again....lighten up, please. As you are so fond of reminding us when it fits your needs: it is only a game and this is only a message board. Thanks.

Just out of curiosity, it is okay for someone to say that because a person has a different opinion then they should have to in this case "eat dirty diapers". Why, because a person sees something a different way? Who is to say whose opinion is right and whose is wrong? Just wondering.

it's all in interpretation JD. I interpreted the eat diapers comment as a total joke. I would have even if it went against my opinion. There was also a nice winking smiley right next to it. Whereas your post seemed to want physical confrontation and there was nothing nice about the 'shut the hell up'.
Guyute
11-24-2003, 02:37 PM
in addition to what shell so perfectly said---
ultimately, I do hold daily votes to see who thinks who's opinion is right or wrong... and we chastise those who we think are wrong.
seriously though... no one has said your opinion is wrong. (or anyone else for that matter). like a joke.... it's all in the delivery.
Jillsdad

I agree it is all in the interpretation. If i had put a smiley face beside my post, would that have made a difference in interpretation. Probably not, and i will agree that I overstepped my bounds, but it just infuriated me that someone would feel that because I have a different opinion, then I should subject myself to certain humiliation. Just like people are thinking about purchasing a billboard to publically humiliate a man. In my opinion, talk like that is going too far. I don't personally know Paul Maurice, but I am sure of one thing, unless he is an android or something, I am sure he likes losing as little as the rest of us. And for people to want humiliate the man and his family is beyond me.
Guyute
11-24-2003, 02:58 PM
woah. who's talking about purposefully humiliating the man?
what people (FANS) want, is to be heard. judging by the banner debacle, that's not going to happen in the RBC. I don't know that I'd join in the billboard raising... but to find a way to voice the opinion of *something here needs to be done. we have a coach that in 9 seasons hasn't gotten close to a .500 record*.... is not at all what I would call humiliation.
I'm sure you're right... it's quite obvious that he likes losing as much as the rest of us. I like him a great deal, as a person. I've laughed many times at his talks to the media.
However. this team is stale. it's painfully obvious that this man has flat run out of ideas. even when he does get these guys to show up to play, they still can't win. he's probably the most frustrated one on the team.
but.... that does Not mean he should keep his job indefinitely... because nobody wants to hurt his feelings.

You don't believe that a billboard on the beltline or I-40 saying Mo Must Go or whatever would humiliate him and his family? Just think if you were driving home one day and saw a big billboard that said Guyute Must Go, would you not be humiliated. And I have never said we have to keep him indefinitely, what I said is until we have a viable alternative, ie Larry Robinson, Ted Nolan etc, I don't feel that it would be in the best interests to can him, because who would take over, K-MAC(yeah right) Ladoceur (maybe), Rutherford (please)
P.S I only voted no once, so there are 3 other people who unfortunately want to remain nameless. I wish they would pipe up though, because I need some help.
Guyute
11-24-2003, 03:16 PM
no, it's not humiliating. this is sports. it's AMAZING that he's been with this team for 9 years. that does not happen.
he's been threatened of having his job taken from him too many times to count. you don't think that the knows this is coming sooner or later? do you think it will be a surprise when it does? do you think the fans would rather have him (a nice guy) here, than say.... win?
he's a coach. coaches get fired. I'm sure he'll be sad to go, and I'm sure he'll get another job, and I'm also sure that he'll understand and hold no ill-will for being let go.
if he was coach of say philly, he would've been ridden out on a rail a couple of years ago. it's the nature of the beast.
the difference here, is that JR doesn't have the cohones to pull the trigger. and the fans are not being heard.
and also- Robinson is available. but not for long likely... florida is already talking to him. so unless JR is doing the same... we could lose out on the only viable option. putting us in an even worse position than last years' horrible showing. and that, I will have trouble dealing with.

I am not talking about firing him that would humiliate him, I am talking about posting a billboard on I-40 saying Mo Must Go would humiliate him.
Guyute
11-24-2003, 03:38 PM
yeah, I can read.
and btw- feel free to put up a Guyute Must Go billboard. I'm not the type to cry and pull my shirt over my head if people don't like me.
(which is the same feeling I'd suspect Mo would have if he were to see a billboard that some nameless-faceless fans put up).
I mean really. you think he'd care that much? if he would, then he's a lot softer than I could've ever imagined, and might shed more light on our current woes.
Jillsdad
11-24-2003, 03:42 PM
Never said you couldn't read, just thought you might be misunderstanding me. Sorry i questioned it. IMHO, the billboard would be a form of public humiliation that I nor you nor Coach Mo needs to go through.
Guyute
11-24-2003, 03:50 PM
I disagree. I don't think it means jack. I think what would be much more humiliating if the players said they don't buy into what he's doing anymore. or if JR went apesh*t on him, instead of being a decent guy when he was letting him go. those things would be humiliating. not the billboard. but I guess we'll leave it at differing opinions.

If he doesn't feel publicly humiliated over a 5-9-7-0 record I'm more upset than I thought I was.
