they are hoping to have the rest of the stadium completed soon, so at the moment the stadium only seats 800 people
the renovation, when completed, will be a major accomplishment for the program

Everytime I drive by the stadium, I have to slow down. And sometimes I even stop if no cars are behind me. :p
That stadium is one of the best looking stadiums I have now seen. I can't wait till it's completely done and the seats get put in on the other side the press box is expanded and redone. I have a few football players in my Entomology class and one sits right in front of me (Drew Wimsatt if I'm not mistaken, I could be). He said that the new facilities are like pro level. They are really nice and they thought they would never see anything like that till they went pro. Our stadium kicks ass!!!!!!!!!!

Riley Leads No. 8 Baseball Over ODU, 9-5
Senior catcher knocks in the first four runs of the game.
April 16, 2003
NORFOLK, Va. - Senior catcher Justin Riley knocked in the first four runs of the game, including a go ahead two-run single in the fourth to put #8 NC State (31-8) up for good in a 9-5 win over Old Dominion (12-22) Wednesday evening at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex.
Riley slammed a two-run homer in the first with Jeremy Dutton aboard to give the Wolfpack a 2-0 lead. ODU scored one in the first on a sacrifice fly RBI by Brandon LeNoir. The Monarchs then took a 3-2 lead in the second as Evan Chipman hit his first home run of the season with freshman Justin Gregula aboard.
NC State scored four in the fifth thanks to six straight hits to go up 8-3. In that inning Lee Mezistrano, Matt Camp, Adam Hargrave, and Marc Maynor each knocked in a run. David Hicks later hit a solo home run in the eighth for the Wolfpack.
ODU scored a run in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Michael Koppin, then Brandon LeNoir knocked in his second run of the evening on a bases loaded walk in the seventh.
Justin Riley had three hits and four runs batted in for N.C. State while Marc Maynor, David Hicks, Matt Camp and Chad Orvella each had two hits on the evening. Phillip Davidson picked up his third win of the season with five innings of work.

Wolfpack nine on a great ride
State hasn't won an ACC title since 1992 but thinks it can make it to the college Series
By CHIP ALEXANDER, Staff Writer
RALEIGH -- When the N.C. State baseball team takes to the road, as it often has this season, pitcher Vern Sterry always claims the same seat on the team bus.
today
WHO: N.C. State at Virginia
WHEN: 7 p.m.
WHERE: Charlottesville, Va.
RADIO: WKNC-88.1
Second row, second seat, behind the left overhead monitor. Good place to see a video. It's also Sterry's lucky seat.
Even though Sterry is a Wolfpack rookie, a junior college transfer from California, no one calls him on it. When you're 9-0, when you're one win from tying the school record for consecutive victories, you can plop down, well, anywhere you please.
And no one wants to mess with the team mojo, not with State 31-8 overall and 9-3 in the ACC. The Pack is ranked as high as eighth in one national baseball poll as it begins a three-game ACC series today at Virginia (22-13, 6-5).

1st game: 7-1
2nd game: 3-2
Vern Sterry is now 10-0, I believe he is a freshman. That record ties an NC State record

State lost to Virginia today 8-3
It was a long weekend for the guys. They have been in Va. since the middle of last week and were stuck in their hotel rooms during the rain.
I'm sure they will glad to be back in Raleigh, and ready to host UNCW at Doak on Tuesday

I was very disappointed that we lost....and I was also upset because of all the Pack fans that were turned away when there was a "multitude" of Carolina fans in there.. Some were quite annoying.. The pitching was really lacking yesterday..as was theirs.....but they managed to hit the ball in the open field...
Anyway..onward Pack..

Just got back from a long, long trip to the beach (had a blast and 1 too many)
among our many activities, we watched the ACC Baseball tourney which NCSU made it to the Final....only to lose in 10 innings to GT 6-5
with our strong performance in the tourney, the NCAA came calling and gave us our first chance to host a Regional (which it turns out, will be played in Wilson)
The weather gods haven't been too nice to Doak Field, but with any luck it will be ready for next season

Okay, this is unrelated to Pack Baseball, but it IS about the College Regionals and includes UNC-W. Without sounding too sappy, it's a great sports story....
UNC-W played their first ever regional in Baton Rouge, LA. LSU is a huge baseball school, having won 5 NCAA titles between 1991 and 2000. Anyway, the knowledgable LSU crowd sort of "adopted" the UNCW Seahawks while in BR for the regionals (especially because they beat in-state rival, Tulane). Ultimately, UNCW had to face LSU in front of abot 6,500 tiger fans to advance to the Super Regionals. Here is a great story about the game:
Victory of respect
Seahawks honored after narrow loss to LSU Tigers.

BATON ROUGE — Alex Box Stadium has seen a lot in its 65 years as the home of LSU baseball. But Sunday afternoon, the ballpark saw something new.
For the first time in the history of the Box, the runnerup team in the NCAA regional took a “victory” lap around the stadium.
It’s been a long-standing tradition that when the LSU Tigers win the Baton Rouge regional, which they almost always do, the team lines up at the centerfield wall and takes a victory lap, shaking hands with fans along the way.
Sunday afternoon, the UNC Wilmington Seahawk baseball team got to experience something only LSU Tigers have been able to experience up until this point.
With the urging of the crowd, the Seahawks slowly made their way along the left field wall, down the third base line and first base line on the way to their team bus.
LSU fans crowded the fence, shaking hands with the Seahawks players and giving them a rousing ovation as they made the lap around the stadium.
It was such a special moment that UNC Wilmington coach Mark Scalf got a little choked up when talking about it.
“This is what college baseball is all about and I feel very fortunate that our kids got a chance to experience this,” Scalf said.
“The fans here at LSU are the best I’ve ever been around. They are very knowledgeable about the game and they appreciate good baseball. Our kids played their hearts out this week, and the fans poured their hearts out for us at the end.
“I’ve never been around anything like this. We’ve been treated so well this weekend, it’s made our first NCAA Tournament experience something that we’ll never forget. I hope we are fortunate enough to make the tournament again next year and I’d love it if they sent us right back here.”
Earlier in the tournament, the LSU fans jumped on the Seahawks’ bandwagon simply because they were playing bitter state rival Tulane.
But by the end of Sunday’s 11 inning championship game, it was evident that the Seahawks had earned the respect of the crowd.
“You know, I say it all the time that we have the best crowd around,” LSU coach Smoke Laval said.
“They appreciate good baseball and they saw a very good baseball team this weekend in UNC Wilmington. Those guys played baseball the way it is supposed to be played and I know they earned our respect.”
