View Full Version : Estimates on Next Years Season Ticket Base ?

What are everyone's feelings about next year's season ticket base? From what I'm hearing around town in the business community, it looks like a drop to about 5000 is being expected.
For us, spending another several $1000 for season tickets is totally out of the question. 3 or 4 key game tickets bought individually in addition to the numerous opportunities for free promotional tickets out there will likely do it for us next year.
The Canes still have our moral support and interest, but financially, they are gonna have to earn it, the old fashioned way.

Are you hearing that from the Canes organization? I didn't think there was a large contingent of Corporate Ticket Holders any longer, so what does the business community know about individuals? I'm not trying to be snarky, but seriously asking. Could you elaborate?

Again, could you elaborate? Are you saying it's out of the question because of the dismal season solely? If so, is it because you think certain changes in coaching or personnel weren't made? I guess I'm asking what would happen for them to "earn" your patronage again?
You realize that if people that have "moral support and interest" choose to punish the organization by not buying tickets, the franchise's success here could be at risk?
Anyway to answer you... My family will commit to another mini-plan (4 seats, lower level) and likely buy numerous add'l games as we did this season. We attended about 20 games as a family and my husband and I went to more than 25 total. If finances allow, next year will be the same!

As for me (and my tiny income compared to most) I'm upgrading from the 9 pack to the 24 pack. I went to almost 30 games this year and will go to that many or more next year.
- Edited by Caniac. SHC, lets try to be civil to people, kthx.

As side-related note about attendance. If 9,835 attend the game on Sunday, we will have an average attendance greater than last year's! Considering we haven't had a game under 10,000 all year - one would assume that we will beat total and average attendance from last year, establishing new franchise records, I believe.

My sister and I will be renewing..and I think we are keeping our seats..we sit in Section 113 and the view is pretty good of the entire arena...my only complaint is that we have a lot of "visitors" in that section...
Overall, the crowds have been quite surprising....even in the worst of times, there have been lots of folks in the stands....and at times we had that place rocking... :spin:
I hope they can keep the fan base with us "old reliables"..and can add to it with newbies that are hopeful that things will be much better next year!!
We have to keep them going, because many of you, like myself, could not bear to see anything happen to the Canes!!

Because the team is losing right and left.
It's the same guy with a new nick and the same old song and dance--the team is losing, so he's simply decided that he doesn't want to bother supporting the team anymore.
It's all good--just leaves a couple of great seats for somebody else.

shell and I will be there, for our guaranteed 24, and another 6-10 after that.
I would like to know who has their finger on the heartbeat of the businesses around here. I'd be surprised if there were even 5000 corporate season ticket holders This season. You do realize, netminder, that Most corporate holders dropped their packs before this season began. The ONLY reason there was so much corporate support the previous season, was to reach the goal of 12,000 STH's, in order to get the All-Star game here.
Give me a STH base of 7,000 FANS any day of the week. It'll sure beat the piss out of a base of 12,000, where 8,000 of those are corporate tix, which Rarely get used.
So.... with that being said.... where are these "facts" coming from?
As for you not renewing...

nah... most people just whine that they had to stand in a 2hr line, and by the time they got to the front of it, tix were gone. :p
We, however, will have our playoff tix, pre-ordered, for STH prices, just like last year, and didn't miss a game.
though I have to say I don't mind saving the $700 in playoff tix we spent last year.

We sit in 109 and all my "neighbors" are renewing. We will keep our 24 game but go from 3 to 4 seats. The couple that sat next to will upgrade from 18 to 24. The lady who sat next to them is also upgrading to 24. We had such nice seat neighbors that we would like to see if we can still sit near each other--maybe 108 though. They said they would rather sit next to my two kids than annoying fans anyday!

Great news on your neighbors VandyCane. In addition to our renewal, we have friends that have 2 minis (18 games), 8 seats total and they are renewing in some fashion equal to this season (they may upgrade to 24 packs, might split season tix, etc.). My mini-plan neighbors are renewing. You know, other than 1 person I know who went from zero to a 24 game plan and realized it was just too much with babysitter and work/money issues, I don't know anyone who's reducing (and even that person is going to a mini plan).
Yay Caniacs!!

My husband and I are going up from 24-game packs to a full season tickets next year.
What can I say? We love our seats (Sec. 130), and if we go up to a full-season, we can keep our seats without having to go thru seat selection night again-- we enjoy the people sitting around us, many of whom are renewing for next year -- and what else? Oh yeah-- we just love the 'Canes and they need us.
So what, that I won't be able to buy any new clothes. . . . got to keep my priorities straight, right. . . . .? ;)

We are keeping our 20 games, in the same seats, same as this year, assuming that we can. We share 4 seats in the first row of 304 with about 5 other people (opuntia is the owner of those seats), and last year we managed to pick up so many because one couple had twins and therefore had to cut down on their games... I am hoping that the losing season will help our cause to keep those 20 games, and therefore solidify our position in the group. :D
Otherwise I will be pressing on someone to supplement with a 9-game pack, maybe... ;)

We are splitting the season again with our guy in 113. I'm already ready! My parents have sat in 103, row H for 3 years now & were considering not renewing but luckily they've changed their minds. I think some people around them aren't renewing which is sad, but leaves good seats open for new people!

Hey, so far sec 103 is my favorite, and we are waiting to see if we can swing full season tix next year. You know, the sick thing is, even if someone told me we would never be a playoff contender again, I would still have my butt in a seat at the rbc for every game I could!!!! Well, I've actually had a good time and overall good fans in all four sections I have sat in thus far (Sections 124, 125, 329, and 331). Unfortunately, I won't be able to afford season tickets, but I do plan on buying tickets for a lot of individual games. So obviously, I plan to attend as often as I can anyway...

SC you surely are a TRUE fan, (and about everyone here)and something to be very proud of!! It makes my heart feel good. Most people seem to kinda bad mouth after a bad season. But not here, I guess that is why I stay and bug everyone with some of my dumb questions. :eek2:
Speaking of, do yall know about what is the down payment for the mini plans, I think we have talked about it before, but I cant find it!
And...my favorite section I have sat in was prob. 124, that was cool!! Cause I am mostly up high, but dont mind as long as I am there!! :D

I saw where they had a payment calculator at the bottom of the page. Not thinking, I plugged in our # of seats and section and totally freaked at the monthly amount before realizing it was for FULL season ticket. In the cheapest lower level sections, 4 seats would be an $800 down payment and over $800/per month!

As side-related note about attendance. If 9,835 attend the game on Sunday, we will have an average attendance greater than last year's! Considering we haven't had a game under 10,000 all year - one would assume that we will beat total and average attendance from last year, establishing new franchise records, I believe.
Just a footnote to this. I stopped by the box office today and picked up our tickets for Sunday's game. There were not 4 seats available in my "normal section", 113. In the North end, only sections that had 4 together were 111 and 112. We ended up in 124. Anyway, I presume they've already sold enough to ensure our best attended season yet!

Am renewing my 24 game pack as well. Thinking about upgrading to lower level also but have not made up my mind on that as of yet. Kinda like the upper level, Nice people up here, not too smarmy!!!! Oh and by the way, I would renew the tickets if we were 4-78-0-0 with the 4 wins being against the Leafs.

I sat on the aisle, 2nd row above the Bud Light sign for 2 years. Great section and good view except the far corner, but the Jumbotron takes care of that. Be sure they have the net up at seat selection if you are thinking of moving to that section. The edge of the net comes down between 108 and 107 and it was distracting for me so I moved to 111. I love it there and plan to be there next year :spin:
If I had stayed there, I probably would have gotten used to it, but wasn't going to take chances!
Hockey is my hobby (addiction?) and it is what I like to spend my money to do. Glad I'm not the only one who feels that way. I'll need a support group over the long summer :)
