I couldn't believe it when my dad called and said he saw my name on CarolinaHurricanes.com!! Did anyone else here get it an e-mail? We were just all discussing last night about how all the Canes contest winners are from letsgocanes.com!!!!

I along with 9 others each get a key at 2 P.M. on Sunday afternoon. One key works, the other nine don't. I then get 2 free tickets to the game that day!

That was the worst accident I had ever seen...it happened ten weeks ago on a night like this...

(...rambles into a story involving Stormy, the Storm Squad, the Caniac Convertible, a Chili's truck with a loose rear door, and a case of their infamous (in a musically deep voice) barbeque sauce flying out, spilling its contents on the car...)

...And, when they pulled the BIG...FURRY...BODY from the MESSY....STICKY...WRECK, it looked like THIS!

(puts her finger on her nose as she makes her eyes wide and makes disgusting squealing noises)

Yes...that was the worst accident I had ever seen.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Excellent story Stormbringer! I caught the Peewee's Big Adventure reference, one of my all time favorite movies. (That's what you were referring to right?)

Thanks for all the support and jokes everyone. I'm getting pretty nervous about this thing. I really hope they just randomly give us the keys and I don't have to actually make up my mind and pick one..... I don't know how I would be able to actually choose!!!

 While this is the crazy emoticon it is filling in for the nervous emoticon I can't find!

Nope, no relation to Cheryl. It's funny that you thought it was an April Fools gag at first....that's exactly what I thought some would think when I first posted this, especially after seeing MG let the cat out of the bag on his prank about finding all that money! When my dad called me and told me he had seen my name on the website I at first thought he was just pulling my leg in an April Fool's gag myself so the first thing I did was check CH.com to make sure he wasn't just making it all up. When I saw Cheryl Cohen I thought "waitasec, did he see that and somehow mistake it for Aaron?" but then saw my name further down the list.

Hehe, good suggestion SHC. And I saw your response to my dad's post about that he should post as 7th man over at ch.com. I don't think he responded back in that thread but his SN over there is gercohen.

Stormbringer, I love the line from Peewee's Big Adventure where they're at the Alamo and the tour guide says something like "There are thousands of uses for corn, all of which I will tell you about right now" and then it quickly cuts to a later part of the tour. I just always found that line hilarious combined with the tour guide's complete lack of any brain cells whatsoever.

Sheesh, 5 days to go.............I've only made it through about 4 hours now!!!

Oh man...I so remember that! Yet another great quote from a great movie. :D Of course, we all know why Pee-Wee went to the Alamo and what he proceeded to ask while he was there. ;) Could you imagine the hilarity that would ensue should someone ever have the luck to get to go on a grand Carolina Hurricanes tour or something similar of the RBC Center...And at the end, after seeing the ice up close, the players' locker room, etc, that someone asks the following question...

"Where is the basement?"

And to keep this on topic, the only reason someone would even want to see the RBC Center's basement (If it has one...) is because a fortune teller told them that's where the Caniac Convertible was hidden...

If I was eligible, I would have bought 10 tickets.

You know. I saw that ad a thousand times and never bought one. I hate having to find the little tables scattered about the arena. They should have handed out the form on the way in for some games and then at least it would have reminded me I suppose.

Last night is the FIRST time I went and signed up for the win a jersey off their back thing. How is that gonna work MG?

Obviously there are fewer people submitting names, etc for these contests than you'd think. I guess next season I'll be paying more attention (although I did sign my kids up for the stick kid thing and the street hockey thing).

Yep, I remember you telling us about how good our chances were last week MeanGene. Thanks for the heads-up. My father said there was an enormous scramble of people buying tickets at the last minute at the Montreal game and that he heard that a little more than 1000 tickets ended up being sold. We stuck with one ticket each though but I relayed the information of the good odds to several people who then bought tickets. Hopefully they put in a good word for you MG as I told them to.

I saw that ad hundreds of times before I even thought about buying a ticket at the Valentine's Caps game. And I'll never forget how I went up to that booth right after I brought a whole ton of souvenirs at The Eye, and found out that the tickets were $20.00 a piece. Well, all I had was $18.00...so you can imagine how shocked and disappointed I was. What was I going to tell them? I genuinely hated turning down that ticket and telling the Kids N' Community people that I had to think about it. Thankfully, I more than made up for that moment at the Buffalo game with my not only getting a ticket, but also the Cookin' With the Canes cookbook, which I had been planning to get for sometime too. If I had the budget, I would have gotten more raffle tickets myself...

I know probably all of the players got some votes for the fan favorite thing, but Ronnie won with a whopping 216 votes according to the website!

http://www.caneshockey.com/custom/rad5F210.asp

Note to self. Enter more contests. They also listed the winners of the Caniac Survery. Odds weren't bad for that either - only 2766 filled them out. Are any of you winners? I didn't realize that "grand prize" was a trip to the Panthers game on Friday. Damn.

http://www.caneshockey.com/custom/radF99EB.asp

And are they really only going to give out 9 jerseys on Sunday. I thought it was so cool the way they did it last year with all the players on the ice with the fans that won.

I am very happy that Ronnie won, but am a bit puzzled about the Caniac Choice vote-getters...I thought I heard somewhere and/or read here that Archie at one point was number one in having the most votes. Was this true or just a rumor? And if it was true, did they disqualify the Little Latvian because of his playing for Lowell and/or his not being a regular goalie? Just curious...though the answer is one that will probably never be found out.

I think you're thinking of the fan favorite award which is a separate vote taken by the Carolina Hurricanes Boosters Club. They have a sign showing that he's number one in those votes over by their table. I believe Wallin is number 2 though I could be wrong....... I don't think they actually give an award to the player, just print the results in the newsletter though again, I could be wrong.

Hey folgers,
I have been thinking about getting one of the Canes vanity plates. I just visited the Vanity Plate page on the Canes web site and saw this:

""We owe a great deal of gratitude to Senator Phil Berger (R-Eden), Representative Jennifer Weiss (D-Cary) and Legislative Bill Drafting Director Gerry Cohen for making this a reality,” said Ken Lehner, Hurricanes Vice President of Marketing Communications. "We hope that some day our vanity plate can be as popular and as proudly displayed as UNC’s and N.C. State’s."

I assume that's your dad they're talking about. If so, tell him thanks for us for helping to make these plates a reality.

Me too Eileen. I'd planned to buy a ticket for three games but I would never remember until after the game and then the booth would be closed. Another question there.....why close up everything before the game is over? Just 15 more minutes open after the game would get a lot out of me. Anyway, wish I'd bought one just for the charity purposes.

And I still want one of those cookbooks too but I know SB said they were almost out so I've probably missed out on that. I just don't ever go wondering around the arena....especially not on lower level.

Yep, that's my dad ZJ! I'll send your thanks along to him. I'm glad you're thinking of getting a vanity plate. They're really cool looking! Let us know what number you get!

When I finally get a car of my own, be it through another Caniac Convertible contest, or somehow getting up the bucks for one, I definitely plan to get a Canes license plate too. But, that's not going to happen for sometime, I'm very sorry to say...

I think I entered that for three players..of course I entered to win O's jersey...if I won, I would probably suffer something and die and then SHC would trample over my dead body to get it!! lmao :D :p ;)

SHC would trample over my dead body to get it!!

You better believe it! ;)

Won't have to though....cause I'm gonna win! :p

Actually, I entered Mr SHC too and you know what? He'll probably win it. That's OK....he'd be much more articulate than I would and would seem like an actual intelligent human being when he received it.

Hope someone from here gets one! We do need to have LGC represented in every contest after all.

Good luck!

and Rio, do you think Armor All will be enough? that pig has been in that car all over town ;)

You're right, TC.... I think a few well-placed Lysol bombs are in order. :D That pig's got no sense of hygiene whatsoever.

After that AND the infamous Chili's truck/barbeque sauce incident (http://www.letsgocanes.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3402#3402), I'm quite amazed that the Caniac Convertible is still in one piece...I would hate to be the person who was forced to do that clean-up job...
