A tough 5-3 loss to the Edmonton Oilers pretty much gaurantees that they will not make it to the postseason. Edmonton is the team they are chasing and they are now 10 points behind them with 10 games remaining. Just about a week ago they were only 3 points behind them but then went on a five game winless streak (0-4-1). Sorta sad to see their hopes slowly dying. They had really turned their season around after an absolutely horrible start. I dunno if any of the rest of you had been following this team but in recent weeks it seemed they had quite a bit of heart. Too bad....
That coupled with the New York Rangers win over the Islanders (somehow they STILL have some sort of a chance to make the post-season) makes this a pretty drab night for me. Not to mention the horrible, chewy chicken fingers I was served tonight in the cafeteria here at school that have left my stomach hurting for the majority of the night.
Great win by the Canucks though tonight to keep the surging Avalanche at bay for the moment...

Well the owner better open up the check book then. He made a promise at the beginning of the season that if they didn't make the playoffs then season ticket holders would be refunded the amount of ticket price increases from last year to this year.

Me three, I really like it when an underdog team battles hard through the season and just barely makes the playoffs, this would have been their first time in the playoffs too.

You're right Vandy. What a crazy promise to make at the start of the season! He definitely must have been scared after the way they started their season. But looking over at nashvillepredators.com in recent weeks, everyone there seemed to be really proud of the team and looking for their first playoff berth ever. Not to mention that, but they were also looking forward to a possible huge upset of the Dallas Stars if they played them in the first round. The Predators have had the Stars' number all season long.... Would've made for an exciting first round!

wow, talk about getting your hopes up!! lol
I feel bad for the preds, would've been great to see them get in. but planning an upset of dallas? could happen... but I wouldn't have been counting on it. a 7 game series (in mid April) is a bit different than the single games played during the reg. season.
