I saw some discussion on this at the bottom of another thread, and wondered if it needed its own... since it had one on the old board.

Anyhow, who all has one, and what number does everyone have? My fiance has 337, and I have 665.

You know, I'm a little perplexed about this whole licence plate dealio. I filled out the forms, which stated NO WHERE that you couldn't be from Canada to purchase one, sent my money and only YESTERDAY received a letter stating that since I was from Canada, I was not eligible to purchase one. The thing that REALLY chapped my A$$ was that, I received NO REFUND! Now, I'm OK with the not being eligible part, but why no refund? What is up with that?

Thanks for starting the thread Kat! Abnormal, I don't know why they didn't give you a refund or why they can't give you a license plate since you're from Canada....my dad knows all the legal stuff, I'll ask him and get back to you!

I've got license plate number 0006 (Hedican!!!) and my dad's got plate number 0007 (Wallin!!!) which he got signed by Wallin when we met him at the 7th man thingy. I'm hoping to get mine signed by Hedican sometime next year at a RecZone practice or something. I've seen a few plates in the 500's here in Charlotte, I'm glad they're selling so many!

It makes perfect sense that you wouldn't be allowed to have one, since you don't own a car registered in North Carolina. It would be the same if I wanted to buy a Canadian license plate-- it wouldn't be allowed.

I'm sorry you were confused about that, but you really should write someone at the 'Canes organization. Explain that you're a Canadian citizen and didn't realize that these weren't just decorative plates, thinking you could get one. It's worth the effort.

Like I said, I'm not too worried about it, but it does pi$$ me off a bit because I did go over the whole form and it didn't state anywhere that it wasn't refundable (well not that I saw), and they say they claimed it is a "processing" fee. I knew I was taking a chance, but at least it was as big of a hit as I am going to have to take when I renew my plates up here in May ($74.00!). So, the $10-15 doesn't really bother me, but it's still not quite right as far as i'm concerned.

yep, very hard choice. giving up an 8 letter personal tag with punctuation for a 4 letter tag might not work. but if they would've allowed personalization from the beginning, I would've put a lot of thought into something we could use.

When I called about the plates I was thinking you could get 4 letters. The lady actually told me 5 letters could be done. I hope she is right. It will be worth the extra $20.00 or $25.00 whichever one it is.

Well, I wouldn't necessarily say it's limited to four...I think they're allowing five on most logo plates, including the Canes now. A few minutes ago, I saw a personalized State license plate sporting five letters.

I really don't have any idea. Mine has a Canes' logo and a 4 digit #. I haven't seen a Canes' plate with more than 4. There are a lot of NCSU, UNC, etc. plates out there. probably more than can use just 4 digits, but I have no idea what they'll allow.

Last I checked, they were selling the front plates at the Crabtree Valley Mall location. From what I could see, most variations were still available. :)

They came through! I can't believe it! I am shocked and TOTALLY excited by what I received. It may be only a "sample", but it IS like the one y'all are sporting on your machines. After receiving the rejection letter and them keeping my $10, I didin't expect to hear anything ever again, BUT, I think there must be a Hurricanes fan on the NCDMV, or this may be just another oman as to what kind of season we are about to have! First Isabel, and now this? The Hurricanes may be about to shut the "expert's" pieholes once and for all!

I don't think I've seen a Canes vanity plate with anything except numbers. that certainly doesn't mean they don't exist! a thread somewhere said that when you personalize the CH has to be part of it. If memory serves, Folgers Dad was instrumental in getting this personalized license plate program begun in the first place. He posts on fanhome and has been known to lurk here I believe. Just wondering outloud if he had something to do with it - I really have no clue.

I decided to get a Canes logo plate instead. THey let me keep it, but i am guessing that it is not in circulation.

Gosh no....$35 per year. Just paid mine last month. :)

And, if you've already paid for your registration this year, it only cost $10 to get a new 'Canes plate. :spin:

Just got mine for 2 of the family cars. 1342 and 1343. Look for me! 10 bucks on top of usual registration is a bargain. Almost personalized but 60 bucks a year on top of registration just for that? No thanks. You only get 4 letters too. I almost put my section and row of my season tickets on my plate but didn't (326D)
