I know this is a strange topic...not sure where to put it, but i was wondering if anyone else has this problem. I have had migraines for years, and can control them pretty well most of the time, but every time i go to a Canes game, I get one. i have learned to take an imitrex with me, so i can take it after the game, but thats not a really good solution. i'm wondering if its the combination of the noise and the cold, and of course, my blood pressure! My Docs only advice is to stop going. LMAO. That's not happening, of course. i'm on a quest for a solution before next season...Any ideas?

Not sure I have any ideas on how to cure your headaches, I'm sorry to say. But, the cause of your headaches could also simply be a reaction to the adrenaline rush happening inside you due to the excitement of being at a Canes game. Whenever I go to a Canes game or practice even, I get real warm due to the excitement of seeing my favorite team in person. Because of my adrenaline being easily increased, I tend to be very warm natured anyway, and usually don't wear a coat that often unless it is *real* cold. But thankfully, my adrenaline has never been intense enough to cause me to have headaches...

I get headaches at games occasionally too. I've always chalked mine up to the eye-strain from staring at that bright white ice for 2 and a half hours. I get them if I try to use the computer or watch TV in a drak room as well.

The cold thing might be part of it too. Your blood vessels dilate and constrict a lot based on body temperature and a lot of people's migraines can be traced back to blood flow in the brain.

Can't really give you any suggestions on how to avoid it though. Sorry about that. The Canes' play tends to give me a headache a lot this season too! ;)

I'm a migraine sufferer, and I've gotten a few at the arena, but not very often. Don't wait until after the game to take your meds-- you have to do it the second you notice it, or the Imitrix will not be as effective.

Every time I take an Imitrix, at the same time I also take 600mg of Ibuprofen. The combination of the two is the only thing that saves me.

I never go anywhere without those two drugs.

Ooh you are lucky that Imitrex works for you. It makes me have a serious panic attack. I always take my prescription stuff with me. Have you ever had Phenergan? It's for nausea, and my doctor thinks it helps with migraines, and she's right! Sometimes i'll just take one of them and it goes away. I got one before the Kings game even started and thought I was going to DIE with all the lights flashing. I had to leave at the 1st intermission & go get shots for it.

Good luck. We sufferers need to stick together!

"Phenergan"

I've had it for nausea and I'd have to watch the replay of the game. It puts me to sleep for hours!

I occasionally get headaches at the game. I do not watch that last video bit with the flashing lights and strobe thing with the pictures. It will sometimes set one off although it is not migraine level.

Good luck finding something that works. Did you laugh hysterically when the doctor suggested you not go to the games???

Thanks for the suggestions, y'all! the problem with taking the imitrex at the games is that it makes me feel really ill for a couple of hours after i take it. The cure is almost as bad as the migraine! I haven't tried phenergen for migraines, but it puts me to sleep instantly for nausea. And just thinking about the whole "storm warning" and flashing lights is making me get that tingle behind my eye! LOL! i used to love caffergot, but they don't prescribe it anymore. Anyway, if anyone finds a better migraine med, would you mind dropping me a note here? Thanks!

Ever tried Midrin? That's what I take for a milder one, then Tylenol 3 for a really bad one. I think i'm immune to the Phenergan now, i've used it for awhile! I also take a preventative medicine, Nortriptyline, at night. It has made a dramatic difference, cut them down about 50%. Maybe blood pressure medicine too.

That was what I thought too SHC...the cold makes my sinus problems act up...and too the noise could be a factor...hope we have a noise factor on Sunday!! ;)
