It will be a very interesting matchup with Jacksonville on opening day against Jack Del Rio. For those of you who don't know, he was our defensive coordiator last year, and a darn good one at that. He's now the Jags' coach.

The playoffs are certainly a realistic goal this year.

If only we could have kept Del Rio...he built a very good defense last season. Will it be the same without him? I'd like to think so....Who is the new defensive coordinator?
I have a good feeling that the Panthers will make the playoffs this year and go deep. With the stellar defense from last year and the retooled offense with Stephen Davis and Kevin Dyson I think the chances of a good run are, well, good.
Special teams....is Kasay going to be reliable? Sauerbrun is the best punter in the league, and a tandem of Steve Smith and Michael Bates will be unstoppable on the kick return.
I predict second in the division behind the Bucs.

I still wish Patrick Jeffers could have stayed around. Back in the "glory days" of the Panthers with him and Walls both at the top of their game... but it'll be interesting to see how their D does without Del Rio. They were really good in that department last year.

But hey, I like the ESPN game on Dec. 7th!

I really wanna see the preseason game against the Steelers. I'm a Steelers fan, but also a Panthers fan, and it would be great to see both teams in action. I remember one year the Steelers came to play the Panthers in Carolina on my birthday!!! But me and my dad couldn't get tickets.........

Jeffers got injured because of that ******* turf they had at Three Rivers Stadium back in the day. It seems like every year our worst injuries occur in preseason or training camp. I'd just let our 3rd string guys play the whole game. :D

Jeffers would have been an asset, but thankfully we have Proehl, Dyson, and company now.

Yeah I admit that the turf in Three Rivers wasn't the best, but now we have Heinz Field with real grass and probably the hardest goalposts to put field goals through. Rod Woodson (when he played on the Steelers) got injured on the turf too, I remember watching that game.

Yeah...even though I strongly dislike the Steelers, Heinz Field is beautiful (those uprights are a b*tch though!). For a second, I couldn't remember if it was natural grass or that new-age FieldTurf...some players say that stuff is even better than the real thing! They have it at Seahawks Stadium, Reliant, and they had it at the Vet last year...isn't it getting torn down?

Yeah, I think Veteran's stadium is getting torn down. I think I heard something about it before the Super Bowl, not sure though.

I think Heinz Field just got that new age turf put in. They something about it on the Steelers home page.
