Man...am I ever at a crossroads. I want to send ESPN a box of chocolates (In the shapes of Sightless Eyes and flags, of course. ;)) for showing the final game the ones I protect play for this season. But, I also want to give Barry Melrose and his mulleted head their umpteenth scalping because of that "lovely" comment he made.

Hmmmm...well, who says I can't do both of those things?

Looks like I have a side trip to Bristol, CT to make after my protectees' game tomorrow evening...YOOOOUUUUU!

Y'all are too sensitive ;) . I mean, is Melrose really going out on a limb or against the odds to predict the Isles winning?

Who gives a rip about ol' Barry. :D Studio discussions would get pretty boring if they always said "each team has a chance to win".

I'm looking forward to Sunday and the game and the Canes to play their hearts out. The guys never cared what other people said last season, and I'm not gonna start now. :p

Dude when are they going to realize the fans here rule? We will spend twenty to fiddy bucks to see a team that blows chuncks lose to the freaking Islanders.

Now lets hope the rangers don't lose and ESPN doesn't dump the game because of it.

Don't worry about it. Melrose is an over-the-hill talking head with delusions of competence. (That was from some video game...) Yeah, I don't like him either. He needs to go ahead and take an early retirement. What a moron.

You're not the only one confused Eileen...I knew the game was at 3:00 (According to the pocket schedule.), but saw that ESPN said 2:00, and put that down. The only thing I can think of is that they're having a special pregame thing about it being the final day of the regular NHL season...

No need to apologize RCF, I understand. If ESPN does end up showing the World Series of Poker and/or letting the said thing run into my protectees' final game, I may just have to have yet another jet-skate up to Bristol.

Here's something interesting...that World Series of Poker mess ESPN shows is the SAME TOURNAMENT from TWO OR THREE YEARS AGO. The fact that ESPN "can't find anything better to show" in the place of ONE BORING (And not to mention STUPID...who on Earth wants to watch a card game on television? Apparently somebody does for ESPN to keep showing TWSOP.) POKER TOURNAMENT proves alone how pathetic the network is. But then again, we are talking about a networK that has the darned gall to diss the NHL in the form of showing crap like The World's Strongest Man/Woman in place of the League's games.

As you can tell RCF, you're not the only one ticked by the mere thought of the SAME card game shown at least ten times a year replacing a major sport's game happening on the final day of the regular season...that's totally ridiculous.

Cheerleading is definitely sports related, so ESPN's showing that is very much understandable. But SPELLING?! I honestly will never forget how they showed the National Spelling Bee on ESPN last year. When I read about that somewhere the day it happened, I was thinking.
"Oh boy. And just when I thought it was bad enough whenever they showed bowling, poker, and World's Strongest Man/Woman."
So later that evening, my mother and I were sitting around watching TV and talking about various things. I brought up ESPN showing the Spelling Bee, talking about how it must really be a slow sports night. And what does my mother do but ends up turning to the aforementioned event and watches it, despite my pleads of there are much better things on. To this day, I could still kick myself for remotely mentioning the Bee to my mother... (sighs)

Hey, I love watching the WSOP.

Sometimes, on the weekend, they'll run 4 or 5 poker tournaments in a row.

Also, they're usually playing Texas Hold 'Em, which only gives the players two cards each.

Let me apologize if I have offended anyone regarding the poker tournaments being shown on ESPN. They are obviously not my cup of tea, and it just doesn't help when there's the potential for a Canes game to be interrupted by such things. Of course, it also doesn't help that ESPN shows stuff like World's Strongest Man and Woman, Logging/Log Cutting, and Spelling Bees to name a few things that I question being on there. I'm probably one to talk saying that poker on television is boring when I watch golf (Something I'll be doing quite a bit of this spring and early summer...go Phil Mickleson and Davis Love III.), a sport that's notoriously made fun of for being boring to watch on television. Obviously, my doing the said action shows that I think quite the opposite, much like Greensboro Hurricanes coming out and saying that he enjoys poker on TV. So in conclusion, it's just different strokes for different folks, and my apologies to GH and any others offended by my poker comments.

At least we all can agree upon one thing...ESPN had and still has some darned gall to show "World's Strongest Man/Woman" in place of NHL games.

I don't mind the poker tournaments.

I don't mind the World's Strongest Man/Woman contest.

I don't even mind Babe freaking Winkleman or the National Spelling Bee or even the Highland freaking Games (caber tossing, anyone?)

But I most certainly DO mind all that when it interferes with me being able to watch the Brothers of the Sightless Eye.

Cheerleading is definitely sports related, so ESPN's showing that is very much understandable. But SPELLING?! I honestly will never forget how they showed the National Spelling Bee on ESPN last year.

believe it or not, its been on ESPN for at least the past 4 years.
