This was sent to me by a friend this morning, and it's worth sharing. All politics aside.

This is for those people who say "this isn't MY war". this is for the people who've already forgotten. this is a reminder as to just some of the reasoning of WHY we're doing what we're doing.

be patient, it's a 7mb file.

Not to make too much of a statement..but the Dixie Chicks and Eddie Vetter need to watch some footage of 9/11/2001...and then they may be reminded of why this has to happen!!  Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein are all rolled into one person in my opinion!

I just watched that video..and how moving it is...you tend to get wrapped up in normal life again and those feelings kind of go away...until you see that again!!

Saddam's getting desperate. He's gotten people (including the women and children) and forced them to carry out suicide attacks against coalition forces, threatening them and their families with death if they didn't comply. A pregnant woman was forced to carry out one of these attacks the other day, killing herself and some Marines.

To those that protest, you are all blind for not seeing this disease in Iraq that we need to stamp out. This isn't about oil or so-called "American imperialism." If your willingness to shut your eyes even to these kinds of atrocities, well, I shudder to think what would happen if you were in control of things and in the world's leadership roles.

God Bless America.

God has nothing to do with it.

In any case--I'm not in favor of the war either, but the moment the troops went in the time for debate was over and the time had come to give my support to the people in uniform.

Did anyone see Leno last night? Dennis Miller was on and ripped into the protestors, it was a very funny piece.

Thanks for sharing this, guyute. I think we all could use reminding as to why, in part, a war like this is necessary.

Ditto to that.

Since we're on 9/11 here let me tell you about a documentary you really should see. It's called "9/11" and was made by Jules and Gedeon Naudet (yes they are French...maybe it'll give you a flip side to the French) and James Hanlon (of NYCFD). Here's the blurb off the back of the DVD 'cause they say it better than me:

On the morning of September 11, 2001, brothers Jules and Gedeon Naudet were working on a documentary about a rookie New Youk City firefighter. Hearing a roar in the sky, Jules turned his camera upward--just in time to film the only existing image of the first plane crashing into the World Trade Center. In a fateful instant, Jules and Gedeon became eyewitnesses to the most shocking and defining moment of our time.

With cameras rolling, the Naudets followed NYC firefighters into the heart of what would be known as Ground Zero. What emerged is an unforgettably powerful visual document and a stirring tribute to real-life heroes who, in their city's darkest hour, rose to extraordinary acts of courage and compassion.

I watched this over a month ago and as I typed that I began to cry and my hands are now shaking...it's THAT powerful. They were standing inside one tower with the firefighters when the other collapsed. It is an unbelievable thing that this stuff exists on tape. These men (the firefighters and actually the film makers to some extent) are 10 times the person I will ever be.

You really, really should see this if you can....it's amazing.

That is a wonderful documentary. It is amazing what people can do in a time of crisis. There are many really wonderful people who would give their life to save someone else, even someone they don't know.

As with many other areas, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Protestors squeak so they get attention while the many who quietly support the war or quietly support the troops and oppose the war end up dismissed as unimportant.

I know from an active duty soldier who was deployed on Tuesday, was in Germany on Wednesday and whose wife won't know for a very long time where he will be after he leaves Germany, that the protestors do adversely affect morale. At least that is his opinion.
