View Full Version : Should the NHL drop the instigator penalty?

After last night's cheap shot on Adams and a lack of real justice being dealt to Doig, I think the NHL should lose the instigator penalty. Vigilante justice allows the skilled players to do what they do without fear of cheap shots.

Yes, the fight instigator penalty must be eliminated. In my viewpoint, if this penalty continues to be applied, each fight will be a game misconduct.

As someone who's job it was to be a pest/enforcer at one time, I thought/think there is no worse penalty in the game. You have one guy going after your best players and when you confront him he turns turtle on you? This is in the spirit of the game? Why not introduce injury time like soccer so faking an injury can be part of strategy, too? :huh:

As someone who's job it was to be a pest/enforcer at one time, I thought/think there is no worse penalty in the game. Yes, the instigator rule is the worst rule in hockey. It would be a much better game if the league were to get rid of this rule. Let the enforcers do their job.
