Two Blues prospects playing for the Peoria Rivermen of the East Coast Hockey League were arrested early Monday morning and accused of beating up a cab driver.
Greg Black, 21, and Colin Hemingway, 23, were charged with aggravated battery and mob action with injury, both felonies.
In addition, Black was charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
According to the Peoria Journal Star, the victim told police that he picked the two up shortly before midnight on Sunday and was driving them to their apartments. The two became contentious and the cab driver asked them to get out of the car.
According to police, Black then hit the cab driver in the head, possibly with a cell phone. The cab driver and the players got out of the car and Hemingway held the driver while Black hit him, police said.
The cab driver, Aden Wheeler, 49, received stitches around his right ear and was treated for minor bruising to his stomach, head and back.
